Since Sting's retirement has been in the rumor section, I will put this here.... We saw The Man Called Sting tonight at the BTW event in Altoona Pa. He looked damn good and was in great form, at least on the mic. I wish I could have talked to him, but the line was huge and it was $75 for a autograph and photo, and I just didn't have that kind of bread. He had Lex Luger along as well, who never appeared ringside, but was looking really frail and in a wheelchair. I watched as he signed and he could barely hold the pen. But Sting came to the ring and talked, and never mentioned retiring or his neck problem. Basically he said it was good to be in Altoona, told the history of wrestling at the Jaffa Shrine, and how BTW Wrestling is the best! Then he was gone...not be seen the rest of the night. (click to enlarge) Of the "name" wrestlers, Gangrel wrestled Billy Gunn, Homicide took on BTW champ Flex Armstrong, and the ECW gang of Dreamer, Raven, and Sandman wrestled, but Raven got in the ring once, only did his hands outstretched thing, and then walked out. Oh...and Billy Gunn was the only guy who wrestled without a shirt on. Still a fun 3 hour night with some great indie talent, well worth the $20 admission. If you ever get a chance to take in a BTW (Big Time Wrestling) show, do it! Oh...and the two El Diablo's were together again! It's been a few years, but we fondly remembered the old days and how wearing the mask had been an adventure! Raven added the word balloon and "Dreamer Sux" to the picture! A great story of the time is how I worked ring crew and took Tommy's bag one night but didn't realize he had the mask hanging out, so all these kids thought I was El Diablo, and Tommy told me to just go sign their programs, because who would really give a shit.
