I find two things very interesting about this ending of ECW.

I do not see how WWE is going to get a network to commit to this NXT show. With no big stars how is it going to draw ratings? Afterall rating is what this whole thing is about, with them come sponcerships. Why would a network keep ashow long if it dosen't make enough money from it, this is as big a risk as XFL.

Secondly I wonder if the "ECW" name is being retired because it is hurting the original ECW name value. Honestly it will take a hardcore fan, no pun intended to know the difference between the real ECW and the WWECW. If I saw a DVD set with ECW on it I would take a second look to be sure I was not getting down the water downed version of the product.

I've heard their considering retiring it ...

My understanding on this is that the established/veteran guys (that are worth keeping) will move on to SD or RAW, and NXT is just for the Next Generation

So dudes like Ryder, Archer, Yoshii, Barretta, Croft, etc ... will stay in NXT, along with those other young stars in the current ECW, plus an influx of young talent from FCW

I'm thinking that WM could feature a championship match from the NXT guys - since this show is starting just after the Feb PPV, then the weeks between the Elimination Chamber & WM will be about building towards a championship match (tournament?)

The other fallout from this move is Christian - what's going to happen to him? - betcha he ends up winning MITB at WM - and we have an awesome 3 way title feud set up after WM (Edge, Jericho, Christian) that can carry one brand for months!!!

Are they not doing that now?

Edit: 100% going to happen. Not 100% youth/developmental.

I'd bet nothing is changing but the name.

It won't be sad as long as ones released are on my Career Deadpool list.

Washington has yet to wrestle on ECW, and I can't see his talk show as a great addition to either Raw or Smackdown.

Most of whom you have listed have been around a while. Actually only Washington has never been on some other show. The rest have.

Trying to figure out what to do with Zach Ryder, Vance Archer, Yoshi, and Croft/Barreta is the key. WWE hasn't handled moving other young superstars to Raw/Smackdown very well at all. I'm betting these guys will stay on WWE NXT at least at first.

So ECW is dead, and NXT is going to be a showcase for the younger talent (so will it be basically FCW on national TV with more sustained storylines).

So what of the established stars that are on the current ECW show? Presumably they will 'drafted' or signed as 'free agents' to RAW & SD. (sadly this could lead to a bunch of releases over the next 3 weeks ...)
Who from ECW will jump to SD/RAW immediately?
I don't know the ECW roster that well - but I can think of 4 stars immediately from ECW that should be moved to the big boy shows

Christian
Regal
Ezekial Jackson
Shelton Benjamin

4 others that could
Helms
Golddust
Kozlov
Abraham Washington

I'm sure there are more that I'm missing

But it's going to interesting (esp. with Christian) to see how these stars are integrated into SD & RAW - and to see how many releases we see over the next 3 weeks
