Punk explains everything. How he got Vince McMahon removed, and now got HHH removed from COO. How he hatched this plan months ago, went to Johnny Ace and had him bought in because he knew that Johnny Ace was a lot like Punk, never given a fair shot in America, and was hired on by Vince to just kiss his ass. So now Punk has an "ace up his sleeve". But more than that brought back Big Daddy Cool, to have Nash take him out at the PPV and cost him his title because he had bigger plans and being a former MITB winner himself he know it was only a matter of time, so did it to set things in motion. He had people believing HHH and Nash were in cahoots and never considered Punk would cost himself the title. This lured HHH back into the ring from his office job and put his COO job on the line. Punk brags about getting rid of HHH by using his best friend to do it. He then tells a story about a man and a snake, and as Nash is listening it's sort of dawning on him that he is the man and Punk is the snake. Punk used Nash to get HHH, to break up the faction that put HHH into the position he is in, that made HBK the top guy etc. But Nash has little use to Punk now, he's old and broke down and yesterdays news. Before Nash has a chance to react he's jumped from behind by Colt, Hero and Castagnoli, and along with Punk they completely decimate him. Full stretcher job level - nobody would make the save because nobody likes Nash.

So McMahon is out, HHH is out, Clique is broken, Ace in control (and in Punk's back pocket) and Punk back as a heel, has a new faction to run roughshod with. The faction will be Horsemen-esque, together for years without much inner turmoil. Johnny Ace could even fill the JJ Dillon role in some respects.

I'm sad that this won't happen. This is excellent.

I've had similar thoughts about Punk for the last couple weeks. He's continued to harp on the HHH/Nash alliance ad nauseum while they continue to dismiss it out of hand and present evidence to the contrary. It's classic magician misdirection. Or classic lying sack of crap husband misdirection ("No, honey, I swear I'm just staying late after work."), whichever you prefer.

It'd be great fun to have the McMahon family on the outside of the power vacuum looking in. Vince could come back and cut some great promos, "You STOLE my life!!!!"

The only problem with it would be if Punk ascends to Emperor Palpatine status, he has to fall. And for the way his character is right now, I don't know if he can come back from that.

CMontgomery -- absolutely fantastic, that is exactly what I think they SHOULD do, which means of course HHH will go over Punk with a pedigree on Sunday.

That storyline you listed though is the perfect way to get to the old man and the snake story which you KNOW has to be making some sort of appearance eventually in Punk's story arc.

Do we really think that Punk ruining his own title run is brilliant? Really? That's Russo booking at it's worst.

He could always say that he's been World Champion before and it didn't grant him the recognition he thought he deserved. The idea that he forgoes the championship to be able to have power (a COO in his back pocket) would work for me.

Personally, I think hes a [freaking homosexual].

Agreed. I hate any booking that involves someone saying "I got kicked in the face five times and took 4 jackknife powerbombs (supposedly the most dangerous move in the business) just to get you. Ha ha!"

However, losing the title to get total control of the company is an even trade.

Still, doesn't change the fact that tonight's promo was a rambling, awful pointless piece of crap. Punk is surprisingly bad at give and take, constantly interrupting HHH to make and yelling things like "how can you say they don't like me" when HHH just said they liked him.

And what about Plan A re: fighting Nash at MITB....

Or was that just extending things out a month to give us HHH vs. Punk at the next PPV and more "credibility" that Nash and Punk weren't in cahoots...

Punk could say that since he gave up the title, he is going to get it back on Raw. Then have a classic McMahon lackeys in all positions match, only to get screwed by Cena (who I'm guessing won't get the gold at the ppv) and the trio have a triple threat match at HIAC.

Outside of that Armegadon six man a decade ago, has there been any other non-tag multi-man match Hell In A Cell matches?

Another checkmark on the "Punk heel" list:

"I'd rather be hated for what I am than loved for what I am not"

I've heard that quote before, and I believe (just like the microphone shot) that it was in his feud with Jeff Hardy when he first began to show shades of the black hat wearing CM Punk.

I'd just have Punk beat HHH, Vince returns at the end of the show (after the Cena/ADR match) and announce that Punk gets his rematch RIGHT NOW. Punk wins.

Hopefully they've realised that ADR as a champ isn't necessary just for a tour of Mexico (or that it's already sold out). Punk comes back and says that as soon as Vince was removed from power, he had to come back immediately to save WWE from HHH. He'd rather have Vince in charge than HHH, etc...

Do we even need an over arching storyline?

They could even admit they messed up & have no actual story in place and then completely throw a spanner in the works:
Punk wins at the PPV clean
Nobody interferes but HHH just has lost a step since he retired
The Monday they have a "representative" arrive to announce the COO
"We thought HHH would be "respected" by you we never considered there would be so much personal animosity between HHH & Punk so we're admitting we were wrong.
Punk you win, so the new COO is CM Punk!"
On one condition unless you enter the Royal Rumble & win you are barred from WWE title matches!
That opens the door for Punk accepted "wrestlers" to come in, sets up an interesting dynamic for the Rumble, maybe this could be the catalyst for a change that we all know Raw DESPERATELY needs, but also allows the option of maybe Punk eying the World title & trying to make that more prestigious?
Now you start to have Punk understand the "pressure" of running instead of running around saying "change & cool"

* Alberto Del Rio hires "illegal Canadians" to clean his house. Freakin' hilarious line for a guy whose English isn't perfect.

* Something I like that people are starting to do, specifically Cena & Punk, remaining in character despite what's going on around them, talking over music and crowd chants. Yeah, there are times where it's important to be silent and let the atmosphere take over, but they're real good judges of when it's OK to keep things rolling.

* I felt about HHH a while back the way many feel about Cena now. It took much longer for me with HHH than it did with Cena, but I realized how good the guy was. Dude had his (ahem) A-game tonight. Might have been the best promo HE has ever cut, certainly in the last couple years. As many have said the last several weeks, HHH/Punk/Cena in the ring has been how pro wrestling is supposed to be done. You may not like how they've executed it, but what they've done, they've done really, really well.

Nope. Can't even think of a triple threat match in a cell.

The only problem with the Punk trying to take over with a horsemen-like stable ... is that he's done it not once but twice already, and the results haven't been very good. They tried to build the SES, but Gallows and Serena didn't do anything else. They gave him Nexus. No dice.

Punk seems to be at his best against over-faces. Rey, John, Orton (but RKO loses to no one), and now HHH.

So why should I watch the show that Punk is rightly saying sucks, or care about Punk who HHH completely neutralized/buried on the mic?

A lot of this is exactly how I see this storyline turning out.

Minus the indy friends coming together for tandem awesomeness, I can't shake the feeling that CM Punk is the real mastermind behind the conspiracy he's been accusing Triple H of. He's been so vehement in his "YOU TWO ARE IN THIS TOGETHER!!" rants that it feels like he's trying to take the eyes off himself --- and with the insider jabs, and promo face offs, and whatever other bullshit going on? It's easy to do. I can see Punk dropping the title on purpose to out-cerebral assassin the Cerebral Assassin. He's the best in the world. THAT'S his title.

I'm calling it. Punk swerves HHH at Night of Champions.
