A Women's Theory
So, watching NXT this week, Asuka and Nikki Cross beat the leaving tar out of each other, resulting in a crossbody from high up through a table. Fun
stuff. Which lead me to think about where they're going from there and...well, I have a theory. It might veer into fantasy booking, but some of
it seems pretty likely. And I'm bored and figured I might as well share.
Theory:
As a result of injuries suffered from her brawl with Nikki (or perhaps a subsequent follow-up), Asuka is stripped of the NXT women's
championship. This allows them to make the title the prize for the winner of the Mae Young tournament while preserving Asuka's unbeaten
streak.
Come Summerslam, they redo the Honky Tonk/Ultimate Warrior angle with Alexa Bliss arrogantly issuing an open challenge only for Asuka to debut and
destroy her.
Asuka dominates, obviously, defending in rematches against Alexa. She takes out Nia Jax at Survivor Series. At the Rumble, she defends successfully
against Sasha Banks.
At the Rumble, Bayley wins the first 15-woman Rumble, earning the right to challenge at WM. Asuka can fully heel it up, being very dismissive, mocking
the fact that she drove Bayley out of NXT and more or less blowing her off. Bayley, of course, will finally end Asuka's streak at WM
Would any of this redeem Bayley's terrible booking recently? No, probably not. While breaking her down to build her up again might work, they
could have broken her down without making her look like a total idiot. And obviously this is a LOT of speculation. But it makes sense.
At the very least, they should definitely do the strip Asuka/put the NXT belt in the tourney thing. That's a no brainer.

At this stage with Bayley they have to kick off that feud with Sasha and have them do another pair of killer matches, like at NXT Brooklyn two years
ago, to rebuild her credibility from what the last six months of insipid main roster booking has done to her. I'd prefer Asuka to go to SD too.
The better matches with Charlotte, Becks, and Nattie are waiting for her there; on RAW, once she gets past Sasha, the possibility for really good
scraps drops off dramatically.
You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know,
that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but
I'm not high. You know what I mean?

I'm thinking that whoever wins the Mae Young classic will face Asuka and be the one that beats her.
In the end undefeated streaks become more of a burden and it's probably in everybody's bets interest to have Asuka lose once in NXT before
getting called up. WWE can book an Undertaker-like figure, a nearly invincible force but fucks up guys like Goldberg, a completely invincible force.
