Impact Wrestling Is Rebranded As Global Force Wrestling

Just days after acquiring GFW, Impact Wrestling has adopted it's name. All remnants of TNA and Impact Wrestling have been swept away.

TNA might be a bit of a maligned brand; but I'm surprised that they'd cast it aside for a brand that's history seems to be largely just talk. For good or bad TNA has lasted 15 years in a business dominated by the WWE, and a healthy amount of Indy promotions of various size and success.... although I guess when the whole purpose of your name was a play on a bad sex joke, maybe it is time to call it quits.

It's weird- there is nothing about the re-brand on the TNA website, but the new logo appears on the site (same as the old, just has GFW at the top now).

Is it bad that the first thought I had about this was what the "what's [INSERT NAME HERE] doing in the Impact Zone???" thing would turn into? Or: What's Contact Grappling doing in the Global Sector (or whatever they want to call it)???

You did it, Nibbles. Now chew through my ball sack.

Good fucking lord, what a shitshow.

In other news, in order to avoid any negative connotations caused by previous mismanagement, a piece of shit requested that it henceforth be referred to merely as a turd.

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?

That's why I always hated the TNA name, even when the product was actually good and they were semi-competitive with the WWE. It's just such a stupid acronym to pick for a wrestling promotion, as it basically requires clarification that you're talking about wrestling and not tits and asses when mentioned around non-wrestling fans.

I'm trying to think for a grounded reason to waste money like that. Best I can think off is that JJ has sold himself as the savior of TNA/IW/GFW and for him to go all out and not just be head of creative, Anthem had to buy his worthless brand.

It's impressive how a guy who'se been so average as a performer has become one of the top earners in his profession selling backstage dealings. A few years back there was a number floating around putting Ol' JJ in the eight figure bank account club. That has to be up there with some of WWE's most consistent Main Eventers.

And just like that, the main event of the ppv has spoiled with a tv listing for the up coming episode of impact.

Same as it ever was. #loltna #lolgfw

So do we all need to get used to saying "That's so GFW" now?

A gif of Billy Corgan rolling on the floor in side-splitting laughter would seem highly appropriate for moments of hilarity like this.

To GFW's credit Slammniversary was pretty good.

Classic high pace tag team fuckery to kick things off. While WWE keeps using the Hardyz as nostalgia acts, Jeremy Borash remade the ''Final Deletion'' brilliance with Abyss and Scott Steiner and even improved upon it as it all lead to a great finish in the ring. Then there's what will likely go down in history as the greatest pro wrestling debut in DeAngelo Williams blowing everybody's mind.

Show closes with 3 solid Title matches and I can't think of any WWE PPV this year that outright beats it and as far TNA that might have been their best ppv since their peak with the stacked X Divsion and tag teams along with the star studded Main Event scene.
