The return of Bret Hart and the emergence of Ted DiBiase as a main event player
So WWE is doing a new submission-themed PPV in Montreal, and we
all know what happened in Montreal and what's going to happen at every Montreal show between now and the end of time. Which got me doing some
thinking.
Now bear in mind that a)the parties involved would probably never go for this, and b) WWE would never have the balls to do it, mostly because of their
aversion to anything that might be interesting.
So let's build-up to Breaking Point. At some point during the summer, Orton cheats to win the title from Cena. HBK returns but gets distracted
by, ah hell, the Miz. Mr. Kennedy gets to deal with Matt Hardy. MVP stays bogged down with Regal.
So SummerSlam at the top of Raw looks like this:
Cena, Batista, HHH vs. Legacy (if Orton gets pinned whoever pins him gets a shot at BP)
HBK vs. Miz
Kennedy/MVP vs. Hardy/Regal
Now let's say the heels beat Kennedy and MVP, necessating rematches at Breaking Point. HBK gets a good old fashioned clean win over Miz (after a
closely contested fight to give Miz some credibility). The faces in the ME all want the title shot, so they're all cockblocking each other from
pinning Orton, and eventually that goes to Orton's advantage and he pins Cena.
The next night on Raw, as Orton comes out to gloat, Batista, Cena, and Triple H all hit the ring, each making a case for why he should get the next
title shot. Mean things get said and the faces get into a pull apart as Legacy leaves smirking. The ME for the show is a rematch from SummerSlam with
the same stipulations. Triple H is about to get the pin on Orton, when Batista crushes him with a Batista Bomb. Cena gets in his face and demands to
know why he did that, kick wham Batista Bomb to Cena as well. Orton has an oh shit look on his face as we all think he's next, but Batista just
gives him a thumbs up and destroys Cena and Triple H again before walking out. Orton pins Hunter and Legacy gives the 3 on 2 beatdown. Orton takes a
mic as the faces are helped out and declares "looks like I won't be facing either of you chumps at Breaking Point". He then turns around into
a SWEET CHIN MUSIC from HBK, who takes out Rhodes and DiBiase and takes the mic and says since Orton won't be facing either of them, he'll
step up in their place.
The matches are set for BP: Orton vs. HBK for the title and Cena/Triple H/Bats in a triple threat. Never mind those guys anymore, they aren't
important to the booking from here. I just needed to get them out of the way so HBK could get his title shot.
So Breaking Point in Montreal. Early on in the show, HBK wisely pulls some shenanigans that get Rhodes and DiBiase thrown out of the arena. Orton is
pissed that his backup is gone. The match happens, it's back and forth, and finally HBK has Orton locked in the sharpshooter and the crowd
wonders what's about to happen since HBK has someone in the sharpshooter. All of a sudden, The Hart Dynasty hits the ring and takes out HBK, and
Orton joins in on a long, brutal beatdown that ends with HBK being carried out on a stretcher. Smith shouts into the camera "that was for you, Uncle
Bret!" and Orton and the Dynasty leave together.
The next night on Raw, Legacy and the Hart Dynasty come to the ring together and announce a permanent alliance. Orton manipulated Vickie into doing
him a favor: Raw made a trade with ECW and ECW got Mr. Kennedy, Jillian, and William Regal in exchange for the Dynasty. Through the fall, the
Legacy-Hart alliance wreaks havoc through Raw, enjoying a very loose affiliation with Batista and feuding with Cena, Triple H, MVP, the Colons, and
Kofi Kingston, all the while with Orton cheating outrageously to keep the title. Finally, on a Raw in December, Vince McMahon address the crowd with a
special announcement: he never thought it would happen, but next week, Bret Hart will be at Raw to address the Legacy-Hart alliance. Smith is stoked
at the prospect.
The next week rolls around and the Legacy-Hart alliance is waiting in the ring for the Himan, even having gone to all the trouble of rolling out a red
carpet for him. The old familiar music hits and Bret Hart (with Jim Neidhart at his side) comes down to ringside. After the huge ovation for Bret
abates, Smith takes the mic and asks him "so Uncle Bret, are you proud of us or what?". And Bret basically answers "or what", calling Orton a
coward and a punk, calling Rhodes and DiBiase disgraces to their fathers' names, and telling Smith and Kidd they're on the path to
disgracing the Hart family name as well. Neidhart expresses similar sentiments, telling Natalya he's ashamed of what she's done and
telling Kidd he'll never let a punk like him marry his daughter. The Harts are taken aback and even Rhodes and DiBiase look a little
crestfallen. Orton is nonplussed, as he basically tells the legends "nobody gives a shit what you think" before hitting an RKO on Neidhart and
another RKO on Bret. Orton starts stomping away at the two fallen stars, and seconds later Rhodes joins him. A few seconds later still, the Harts join
in as well, and Natalya holds her father in place as Orton hits Neidhart with the punt. The Harts then get Bret into position... Orton backs up for
the punt... and DiBiase levels Orton with a clothesline and tosses him out of the ring. DiBiase takes the mic and tells Orton this has gone too far,
Bret is in no condition for this and it has to end now. From outside the ring Orton tells Teddy he's just made the biggest mistake of his life
and the heels beat down DiBiase as officials rescue Bret and stretcher out Neidhart.
Going into the Rumble, HBK has returned with his sights set on revenge against Orton and the Harts. DiBiase is on his own as a face but none of the
other faces like or trust him. At the Rumble, Orton successfully defends his title against MVP and the final two men in the Rumble are Undertaker and,
against all odds, Ted DiBiase. Matt Striker even makes a point to remind us that DiBiase's father is the man that brought Taker into WWE. Teddy
somehow manages to survive and eliminates Taker and he's off to WrestleMania. On a Raw between the Rumble and WM26, HBK makes an impassioned
plea to Teddy that he saw what Orton did to Bret and wants to make it right and DiBiase reluctantly agrees to make it a triple threat for the title:
HBK vs. DiBiase vs. Orton for the championship. Meanwhile, Neidhart has returned and made it his mission to rid the WWE of the Hart Dynasty.
He's too old to do the dirty work himself, but he's enlisted one of WWE's brightest stars and two of the second generation gems that
have been biding their time, waiting for their shot. At WrestleMania it will be Cody Rhodes, David Hart Smith, and Tyson Kidd, with Natalya, vs. MVP,
Joe Hennig, and Maverick Darsow (son of Demolition's Smash).
At Mania, the heels combined experience is too much for MVP and the newcomers and Smith pins MVP after a good match. Post match, though, Neidhart
helps the faces take out the heels and they all have a nice feel good moment together.
In the main event, HBK, Orton, and DiBiase put on a fantastic match that ends with DiBiase locking Orton in the Million Dollar Dream. Orton passes out
and DiBiase wins the title! Bret comes out to celebrate with Teddy, and stands back solemnly as HBK gives Ted a hug. DiBiase whispers something in
HBK's ear. Shawn nods, approaches Hitman, and slowly offers Bret a hand. After a long moment of staring at the crowd, Bret slowly extends a hand
and he and HBK shake to a massive reaction. Both men help put the title around DiBiase's waist and each raises one of Teddy's hands, and
Mania ends with the image of Bret, DiBiase, and HBK in harmony as the confetti flies. For one night, all is right with the wrestling world and nobody
ever references the Montreal Screwjob ever again.
Thoughts?

I like how you preface this by saying WWE won't do it because they hate doing anything interesting. Nothing else could possibly be wrong with
this scenario.
All in all, it's a good story with an interesting finish. My main problem is that it has months where most of the top heels (Rhodes, Debiase,
Orton, Smith)bore the crap out of me, then elevate 2 more unproven guys to the main event, then end with the completely unproven Debiase winning the
championship at WM. As stupid as the WWE is, I can't believe they're interested in pushing Debiase that fast.
Also, why does this start with Orton cheating to become champ when he already is champ?

Yeah. That goes to show how close I've been paying attention lately. My bad.

WWE making, building, and creating new stars is such a cute idea. Is this out of one of those fairy tale books you read to your kids?
ETA: Other than that, I'd watch Raw and not complain about it if this happened.

One does have to wonder ... with the Hart Foundation now on Smackdown, it would be about time for HBK to make his return. And, seeing how we're
about to have another Triple Threat with Cena / HHH / Orton, I could see a logical conclusion where they keep the belt on Randall, bring back HBK, and
dump DiBiase and Cody (Orton dismissing them with a "just like Sim and Manu, you two are worthless... I'll find some one else for Legacy."
