Legacy V2?
As a faction, Legacy seems too... small. Maybe I'm used to larger groups like the Horseman, or Evolution, or the various
Heenan/Hart/Dangerously stables, but it makes more sense if a stable has a different guy to challenge for each title in its company.
A variety of factors are going into this relatively short booking session: the ever-swirling Rhodes controversy on this board; DiBiase's DVD
debut in the fall; adding new members to the team... that's about it.
So - Rhodes and Orton get a rematch, as their "match" never took place, and whatever guest GM enforces it. Relatively even bout, Orton wins with a
RKO, Rhodes gets a little bit of his manhood back. But as Orton sets him up for the punt of doom to show him who's really boss, DiBiase sprints
down to stop him, keeping the peace.
The next week, Orton struts down and tells the crowd he's convinced the host to book a match between Rhodes and DiBiase - he's faced them
both, now it's time for them to face each other. Nothing personal, just something to show the fans what a couple of great wrestlers they are.
Reluctantly, they do battle, but Orton delivers the RKO to Rhodes again, resulting in a DQ loss for DiBiase. Orton takes the mike and proclaims
that's the last win Rhodes gets as a member of Legacy - he's out. He declares that DiBiase was the strong link of the tag team, and
it's time for him to move onto bigger things - the IC title.
The NEXT week, DiBiase opens the show with a singles match against MVP, with Orton ringside. Ted wins, they put the boots to MVP till Evan Bourne and
Primo Colon make the save. The host makes a 3-on-2 handicap match for later in the night, involving all 5.
Main event time. Orton and MVP square off, giving MVP some rub as a title threat; both tag out to DiBiase and Bourne, who wow the crowd. Eventually,
Primo gets the tag to battle Orton... and then he joins him and DiBiase in beating down MVP (again!) and Bourne. Then Carlito walks down the ramp,
and makes it a 4-on-2, ending the show.
The NEXT (and final) week of the run, the new Legacy comes out, with Orton taking credit for reuniting the brothers, making the unit that much
stronger, and now they want all the gold. And so forth.
(And meanwhile, Rhodes gets shipped off to Smackdown to form a team with a repackaged Jesse, who acknowledges his second-generationness by calling
himself Jesse Gordy).
DiBiase gets some solo run, and more mike time; if he gets turned face, all the better. The Colons gets reunited, since they never should have broken
up. Orton looks even smrt'r.
Would it work?
