If Kimbo Slice signed with WWE
So I've been championing the idea of WWE trying to pick up Kimbo Slice pretty much since I first found out about Kimbo Slice. He's got a
look that was practically hand-crafted for WWE, and he has a fair enough amount of charisma. Sure, at 36 he's a little old to be getting
started, but I think Batista was around the same age when he got called up and he's done fairly well. Also, Kimbo's knees are shot so
workrate wise there's probably not that much value in him but would he really be any worse than a Bobby Lashley or a Chris Masters? I think
not.
Anyway, since this is fantasy booking and all, here's my scenario. Kimbo signs a two year deal with WWE and immediately goes to FCW to learn the
basics, but since time isn't on WWE's side and they know it, he's going to start immediately and learn as he goes, working double
duty on Raw and at FCW.
One night on Raw in July, we learn that next week's guest host is going to be MMA "superstar" Kimbo Slice. The following week, the first hour
is pretty standard. The Bellas stand around being worthless arm candy, Santino makes some lame jokes and pretends to be Chuck Liddell or something,
Jillian sings and we all wish for her mercy firing, John Cena brown-noses Kimbo. It's fairly typical Raw until the end of the first hour, when
in a backstage bit Vlad Koslov and William Regal decide to have a pissing contest with Kimbo. Regal makes vague threats while Kos and Kimbo stand nose
to nose. Cena walks in and before you know it, words are exchanged and a tag match is set for the main event: Kimbo and Cena vs. Regal and Koslov. The
match goes like you might expect: Kimbo cleans house, tags in Cena, heels work Cena over, hot tag to Kimbo, and the faces hit stereo FUs before Cena
lets Kimbo get the pin on Kos.
The next week, Mr. McMahon comes out to open the show and says that he was so impressed with Kimbo last week that he offered him a WWE contract, and
Kimbo accepted, becoming Raw's newest superstar. Kimbo comes out, shakes hands with Vince, and that night defeats Koslov in a one-on-one match
in his first match as an official Raw superstar. The angle of Kimbo and Cena becoming fast friends is loosely played up on TV over the next several
weeks, as they beat the Colons in a tag match one night and have a few backstage bits together, and otherwise Kimbo gets a few squashes in on Zack
Ryder and Primo and Santino and maybe a few other lower midcarders, maybe even bringing back guys like Rikishi and Viscera for one-off deals to
establish our new star.
SummerSlam is now approaching and Kimbo doesn't have an opponent yet, so he's challenged by Ted DiBiase, who declares him as nothing but
hype. So far we've kept Kimbo pretty far away from anyone who is a semi-important cog in the WWE machine, so this is the first really
competitive match for Kimbo: DiBiase gets in a fair amount of offense but not enough that Kimbo is in any real danger. Kimbo picks up the win in 10
minutes or so but DiBiase carries the match to hide Kimbo's in-ring shortcomings.
In the early part of the fall, Kimbo starts getting some tougher matches: a rematch or two with DiBiase, a submission win over Miz at the September
PPV, and then one night on Raw, the undefeated Slice gets a #1 contender's match against Sheamus. At some point in the match, the ref gets
bumped, while he's down Kimbo seems to have finished off Sheamus. But Edge slips into the ring, on Kimbo's blind side, and when Kimbo
turns around to revive the ref, he eats a spear. Kimbo rolls out of the ring (as does Sheamus) and takes off after Edge and as the ref comes to, and
calls the contest a double countout.
This of course sets up Kimbo vs, Edge for the October PPV, a feud that is built largely around Edge sneak attacking Kimbo and never letting Slice get
his hands on him. At the PPV, Edge's craftiness nearly lets him get the win, but one missed spear sends Edge crashing into the ringpost and
Kimbo gets the win. Edge unwisely demands a rematch for the November PPV, but for one reason or another this one ends up being a street fight-
obviously an advantage for Kimbo- and Edge comes up short handed once again. Realizing he can't seem to beat Kimbo on his own, Edge enlists help
from an unlikely ally- his old tag partner turned rival, Chris Jericho. After a 2 on 1 beatdown on Raw, Kimbo's buddy John Cena makes the save
and of course we have a match set for the December PPV: Kimbo and Cena vs. Edge and Jericho. The Hart Dynasty, who still have the tag belts here,
decide to make this even more interesting by declaring that they want to defend their tag titles against the winning team at the Royal Rumble. By now
the IWC buzz says that WWE is finally eyeballing that long-awaited Cena heel turn, so most people think Cena is going to turn on Kimbo here and this
is expected to be Kimbo's first loss, but WWE pulls a fast one on the IWC again, and the faces beat the heels and are going on to the Rumble to
battle the Harts.
John Cena is double-booked for the Rumble: he and Kimbo have a match against the Harts for the tag belts, and he also has to defend his WWE title
against Sheamus (for the last time, since Sheamus failed to capture it after he won his #1 contender's match in the fall). Kimbo has expressed
concern that Cena won't be taking the tag match seriously as a result, and Cena assures him not to worry about it. The tag title match opens the
Rumble, goes about 15ish minutes, and out of nowhere DH Smith rolls up Cena for the three. Cena just kind of shrugs and holds up his hands like "my
bad, what can ya do?" and Kimbo isn't happy, telling him "you cost me my undefeated streak man!" to which Cena replies "it was just a tag
match dude, you're still undefeated in singles". Kimbo kinda nods and shakes Cena's hand, but as they walk together to the back Kimbo is
visibly frustrated and upset. An hour or so later, Cena is defending the WWE title against Sheamus. The ref is bumped and Sheamus exits the ring only
to return with his lead pipe. As it looks like he's about to strike Cena, Kimbo slides in to make the save and Sheamus jumps out. Cena is
getting up and thanks Kimbo and they shake hands, only Kimbo levels Cena with a clothesline and demolishes him (to the predictable mixed reaction),
beating him down with his big man offense before walking away. As the ref comes to, Sheamus covers for the title. But Kimbo isn't done yet:
although he wasn't booked to be a part of the Rumble match, he beats up Mark Henry in the back and takes his number, thereby inserting himself
in the Rumble. Henry had drawn somewhere around #24, so Kimbo charges the ring and starts eliminating bodies left and right, eliminating, let's
say nine guys right away. Eventually we come down to our final two in the Rumble: Kimbo and the Undertaker. The crowd goes nuts as they lay into each
other and everyone expects Taker to win since it seems like a no-brainer that we're getting Kimbo vs. Cena at Mania, but sure enough Kimbo
prevails and is getting a title match at Mania.
The next night on Raw, Cena wants him some of Kimbo but Kimbo demures, saying he has a big title shot at WrestleMania he has to get ready for. Cena
says "screw your title shot, I want YOU at WrestleMania" and Kimbo tells him he better get the WWE title back between now and then because as it
stands now, it looks like Sheamus vs. Kimbo. Kimbo's explanation for turning on Cena is fairly simple: Cena cost Kimbo his undefeated streak and
it pissed him off. Kimbo realized that he didn't need Cena and he didn't need the fans, he could be successful on his own and proved it by
eliminating Undertaker to win the Royal Rumble. Cena responds by qualifying for the Elimination Chamber. At the EC event, Kimbo easily squashes Mark
Henry to "stay sharp" for his upcoming title shot, while John Cena overcomes 5 others to regain the WWE title.
The build to WrestleMania is good, with most of the hype centered around Kimbo Slice vs. John Cena; even the media picks up on the hype for this
match. Slice vs. Cena closes out the show, and Cena is able to carry Kimbo to a surprisingly good 20 minute match that shockingly ends with Kimbo
catching Cena with an FU out of nowhere, cleaning pinning the champ with his own finisher. As Kimbo celebrates with the WWE title to a mixed reaction,
some familiar music hits- it's Triple H, who comes out to the ring and stares down Kimbo to end the show.
I didn't really plan anything out for him post-WrestleMania. A feud against Triple H is obvious, a rematch with Cena would be a must, and Kimbo
vs. Orton would have some legs. Ideally we'd draft Undertaker to Raw at the draft and run Kimbo vs. Undertaker at SummerSlam, letting Taker be
the guy to finally beat Kimbo for the belt and giving Taker one last (short) title run before retirement. Where Kimbo goes from there I dunno, because
unless someone really breaks out we've pretty much gotten all the big money matches out of him (I guess he could always feud with Big Show), but
unless I'm severely overestimating Kimbo's value to WWE and appeal to fans (which I very well might be), I think this could be a lot of
fun to watch unfold, and it's been awhile since anyone got a real Goldberg/Lesnar type of push like this.
Thoughts?

Wait, you forgot the part where he pals around with Kofi, Mark Henry, MVP, and JTG for no apparent reason.
Anyway, this is nice fantasy booking and all but I kind of imagine Slice being like a Black Sylvester Turkay, only with some added hype.
