They Might Be Giants

My favorite band of all-time, and they have their 15th studio album coming out in March.

If you've never heard of them, are only vaguely familiar with them, or even if you're already a big fan, here's a nice little list (complete with links to the song in various form) UGO threw together of their top 50 songs from TMBG:

My personal favorite "A Self-Called Nowhere" didn't make their cut, but I think they did a pretty solid job culling together a quality 50.

My sister grew me up on "Particle Man", "Dr. Worm", and that sun song which the title currently alludes me... so I can tell you that indeed, They Might Be Giants is a badass group.

"Why Does The Sun Shine? (The Sun Is A Mass of Incandescent Gas)"

Also recently retconned on their newest children's album Here Comes Science as "Why Does The Sun Really Shine? (The Sun Is A Miasma of Incandescent Plasma)".

Also looks like the album won't be out in March, but still sometime in 2011.

I think Whistle in the Dark sounds like it's sung by Mr. Ed.

They've always been one of those bands that I really like when it's on in the background at a party or in someone else's car but then I'm never sure what to buy when I see all the choices, so I don't buy anything.

Then my wife bought the kids science dvd they came out with. It's a little surreal remembering driving to a party in a VW microbus with giants blaring more than 20 years ago and now my kids are enjoying learning science from them.

If you're not sure where to start, try this one. It's "The User's Guide to They Might Be Giants".

http://www.amazon.com/Users-Guide-They-Might-Giants/dp/tracks/B0007XT8DA/ref=dp_tracks_all_1#disc_1

For the most part it's got all of their most recognizable songs. Especially if you can get it for under $5. Might want to look in Half.com, too.
