Gathering of the Juggalos 2011... feat Charlie Sheen???
The Gathering of the Juggalos will be "winning" this year, as Detroit rap duo Insane Clown Posse's annual four-day festival has landed an
appearance from Charlie Sheen.
Sheen is slated to guest host one of the nights at the fest, Aug. 11-14 in Cave-in-Rock, Ill., ICP's Violent J said Thursday. "We did it. We
secured it, signed a contract, it's done," says J, whose real name is Joe Bruce. "He's coming." Sheen's publicist confirmed the
booking.
Sheen, who earlier this year hit the road for his "Violent Torpedo of Truth" tour after being fired from CBS's "Two and a Half Men," will
introduce acts and perform his comedy stylings at the fest, J says. The specific night of his appearance is still being worked out.
J says he booked Sheen because he thinks the group's fans, known as Juggalos, will embrace him. "To the best of my knowledge, when
somebody's being picked on, when somebody's being (messed) with, when somebody's got mainstream America pointing their finger at
them, that's when they do best in the Juggalo world," he says. "When they're an underdog, so to speak, that's when they shine."
In a number of interviews, including on "The Howard Stern Show," J mentioned wanting to book Sheen at this year's Gathering. The two camps
talked and a deal was finalized earlier this week, J says.
Sheen joins a lineup of more than 50 performers that includes Ice Cube, George Clinton, Busta Rhymes and members of ICP's Psychopathic Records
family. Also on the bill are a number of '90s rap acts, including Paris, Juvenile, Mystikal, Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer, along with a smattering
of professional wrestlers and comedians.
J also said Thursday that Bobby Brown will perform at the fest, the first R&B; act ever booked at the Gathering. More acts will be announced next week,
J said.
The Gathering crowd can be a notoriously difficult one; last year Tila Tequila was pelted with bottles, garbage and even human waste during her
appearance at the fest. J says as long as Sheen is respectful of the crowd, the Juggalos will warm up to him.
"If he says something bad, it's gonna be disastrous for him," he says. "But if he goes out and has the right attitude, if he's actually
interested in where he's at and all that, then it will go over great."

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/charlie-sheen-cheered-booed-pelted-222957
The audience had mixed reactions to the former "Two and a Half Men" star at the Detroit music festival.
Charlie Sheen should be used to this by now.
At Detroit's three-day music festival Gathering of the Juggalos, the actor -- who hosted Saturday night's show -- was alternately cheered
and booed, according to two videos posted online Sunday; he also had to contend with objects thrown at him by the crowd.
In TMZ's video,
Sheen appears to be winning over the crowd, which chanted his name, cheered him on and responded to his asking if they were "winning tonight."
But in another video posted by BuzzFeed, the crowd can be heard booing
the actor, who also was forced to dodge objects thrown at him by the audience. (In fact, an object can be seen hurled onto the stage at the end of the
TMZ video as well.)
The mixed reaction is pretty much the same that Sheen experienced earlier this year on his My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat Is Not an Option tour,
where he was given standing ovations on some stops and booed at others.
This isn't the first time a celebrity has had objects thrown at them while onstage at the annual festival, which is hosted by Insane Clown
Posse. Tila Tequila was hurt last year after being pelted with bottles after
angering a rowdy crowd.

TMZ's posts about Sheen and MC Hammer's performances at the Gathering Of The Jaggolos cracked me up -
quote:
Charlie Sheen - Impervious to Juggalo Attacks
There's a reason Charlie Sheen survived the Gathering of the Juggalos without so much as a scratch Saturday night -- despite several objects
hurled directly at his face -- dude caught nearly every single flying can and bottle ... with his BARE HANDS.
Check the clip.
quote: MC HAMMER Defeats Juggalos with MESMERIZING Dance Moves
MC Hammer did TWO incredible things at the Gathering of Juggalos festival in Illinois last night -- first, he wasn't killed ... and second, HE
DID THE HAMMER DANCE!!!!!!!!
Hammer gyrated the hell out of himself while performing "U Can't Touch This" -- and it was so enchanting ... the Juggalos actually restrained
themselves from hurling objects at his face.
Impressive, considering the Juggalos bloodied up last year's performers -- Method Man and Tila Tequila -- by pelting them with beer cans with
Nolan Ryan-esque accuracy.
He told you, homeboy ... you can't touch this.

If there was ever a time and place I'd sort of secretly half-root for a Taliban attack with minimal guilt, it would be the Gathering of the
Juggatards.
ETA- Interesting read here

I actually read that story yesterday, CiG. Really good read. And I actually enjoyed this story from 2010 a little more -
http://www.villagevoice.com/2010-09-08/music/juggalo-gathering-insane-clown-posse/
What really worries me about the Juggalo culture after reading up some more on them is the fact that they know they are hated and they wear that as a
badge of honor to be the most disgusting, despicable human beings they can possibly be, just so that people like us will hate them more.

As if anybody who self-identifies as a Juggalo has ever been successful at anything besides fucking fat chicks.
Although to be fair, when that's your only real ambition in life I guess mission accomplished.
