Simpsons coming to an end soon - this season or next
Link
To sum up if you don't feel like clicking/reading: The Simpsons has gotten too expensive to produce (what with voice actors making nearly half a
million per episode and whatnot), and so Fox has basically announced that the Simpsons will end at the end of next season (Season 24), assuming they
can get the voice actors to agree to a reduced salary for next season. If the actors won't budge on their salaries, the series will come to a
close at the end of this season.
Fox wants the voice actors to take a pay cut of roughly 45% for next season, and thus far sources have said that they've said they'd be
willing to take a 1/3 pay cut in exchange for a piece of back-end royalties.
I gotta say, this is bittersweet. Even if the show's quality isn't nearly what it once was (and it really hasn't been in quite some
time), and even if I only watch it very sporadically these days, this is still a show that's been on TV for almost as long as I've been
alive, and I can still vividly remember as being one of my first "favorite shows" back in my younger years.
I suppose it's time to move on (assuming this really is the end altogether, though I guess the door would still be open to do more movies or
something), but I'll miss it just the same. And I'll definitely be making a point to watch the last few episodes, as I'm really
curious to see how they'll wrap up a series that's gone on this long.

I have some good memories of seasons 2 thru 8, but after that I really lost interest. The show really hasn't been very funny since before KY2 so
it's not going to be much of a loss at all for me if it finally disappears.

If they want to save money, start by writing Lisa out. Yeardley Smith is the least value for money as she only voices one character(which the guys
making the credits for the movie seemed to me to be making fun of), and one I'm sure a lot of people have gotten sick of with how she's
become such an insufferable "PC Thug" know it all over the years, and not in a way that's meant to be funny. So just have her getting a
scholarship to go away to a boarding school for gifted kids or something and have her come back now an again for guest appearances.

I wanted to say something like that but I was scared that the bOOard liberals would jump me for it.

Count me in the "doesn't watch nearly as much as I used to" camp but I actually watched this year's season premiere (with Kiefer
Sutherland guest voice) and thought it was extremely funny. They can still bring the quality, it seems. And it is just insane how long it has been
on the air. I remember wearing my Bart Simpson t-shirt around age 10 and 22 years later they're still on and making me laugh.

And just that quickly Simpsons are renewed for a 24th and 25th season. If I were the guy in charge, I would allow the Simpsons to end as a regular
series after this 25th season. It seems like a good time to stop even though IMO if you check out a few of the current episodes they are funny from
time to time. I'd like a new movie every few years, plus yearly Halloween specials. It's strange to think about it that many people
don't know a world without the Simpsons.

25 years and out sounds good to me. I haven't watched a first run show (when is it even on - the new shows?) in probably 15 years - but
I'll stop on the oldie reruns now and again. Why are the oldie re-runs from the same time period - it seems like I've seen the same
reruns a 20 times+ over the years and never catch one I've never seen in syndication.
Imagine the finale rating if they build it up for near two years. Might not get MASH territory this day in age, but it would be epic.
I remember Eddie Guerrero.
