The "Holy shit, Pacquiao Vs. Mayweather is finally happening!" Thread and poll

5 years too late, yes, we know. But man, it's gonna be the largest money-maker in boxing history.

Sad, too, since it would have made even more money back in 2009-2011, but still, let's get on the hype train!

I want Manny to win, but my heart and brain tells me that Mayweather will win by decision if Pacquiao doesn't knock him out within the first 4-6 rounds.

I have to admit I've never been a big fan of boxing, although I did follow it a lot back in the early Mike Tyson days. Young Mike Tyson was absolutely amazing to watch. Also, Tyson's hometown of Catskill, NY is literally 3 miles from where I grew up, AND my ex-brother-in-law actually trained as a kid at the same gym at the same time that Tyson trained there. So kinda cool.

Anyway, I've seen and heard enough about both Mayweather and Pacquiao on ESPN and other sports outlets to know that they're the biggest names in the game at this point, and this is definitely a fight that people have wanted to see. That being said I've neither seen either one of them actually fight (unless you count Mayweather vs. Big Show - yeah I didn't think so) so for me it's a toss up. I guess I'll go with Mayweather just because.

Screw you guys, I'm going home.

Hopefull Manny, because he's not anywhere as obnoxious as the other prick and doesn't hang out with Beiber or WWE.

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?

This should have happened years ago, and probably is only happening now after Manny finally looked vulnerable after that last loss. Mayweather is a goddamn bitch, and I hope Paq makes him his.

Anyone here ever seen 'The War'?

It's a famous, famous fight between Thomas Hearns and Marvin Hagler, and absolute classic boxing match that only went 3 rounds, but was still insane enough to be called "The War".

MY VPN is acting fucky, so look it up on Youtube. The first round will blow your mind.

Pacquiao really needs to come out with fire. He needs to hurt Mayweather. It's the only way he will have a chance to win.

Don't waste all of it in the first rounds, but my God, he needs to really hurt that fucker and do something others haven't.

But man, Mayweather is master-class on defense. Seriously, one of the best, if not THE best defenses I have ever seen. His elusive style is impregnable, and I have seen almost everyone who faces him get frustrated beyond belief at how quick he is. He dodges in a way that, if you strike him sloppily, you'll hit him illegally in the back of the head or in the kidneys, causing a loss in points. He's such a pussy, and it works incredibly well for him. No one has been able to penetrate it effectively.

It's going to be an interesting fight, because Pacquiao, in the past, has KO'd guys that Mayweather has gone the distance with, and relatively fast. Guys like De La Hoya, and Mosley.

Looking forward to it, big time.

5 years ago, this fight would have been one of the biggest ever. Now, it's kind of meh.

I cannot stand Mayweather, and he seems like a horrible person. But I can't see Manny beating him. Like Cam said, if he can somehow create a cut over Pretty Boy's eye early, he's got a chance, but I don't see it.

Was there anything suprising about this fight? The past his prime fighter couldn't break the defense of the defense specialist proving that Mayweather chose the right timing to accept this fight and Boxing's biggest heel continues to thrive.

Mayweather is an unlikeable human being but his defense and the way he takes advantage of the rules is fucking unbelievable.

It was just a kinda boring fight. There wasn't a single moment where you were at the edge of your seat thinking, "oh fuck, someone might get knocked down here." Even the few furies Pac went on, were guarded by Mayweather. Neither guy even looked hurt at all at the end.

Is everyone mad here?
Of course they are, and you are too... otherwise, you wouldn't have come here.

That felt like an exhibition, rather than a huge title fight.

Easily the most boring fight I have seen in 15 years. Disappointing isn't even the word.

Typical Floyd fight. Manny couldn't do anything against him. Floyd made him into just another opponent.

I guess this counts as a sig.
