Camp WWE

Completely terrible.

I am not even through the first episode and am compelled to watch the last year of WCW just to remind myself that something can actually be WORSE than this.

It looks pretty terrible from the ads I've seen, but I will still give it a watch just to see how bad it is.

Also, it's kind of funny that the WWE strives to be a PG family-friendly company and then goes and makes an R-rated cartoon for adults. Because that makes total sense.

They do have the parental controls on the network so I don't find the whole adult content thing be too hypocritical (if anything it's nice that they recognize that not all of their audience is 8); but I would say they are over promoting a show that definitely looks appealing to kids.... kinda like playing trailers for "R" rated movies on a Disney movie.

I'll have to give this one a watch sometime; I like Seth Green's stuff for the most part; although shame to hear the early buzz isn't so hot.

Maybe others will find the humor in it. Personally, I thought was actually looking forward to it due to who was involved, but shit did it blow.

Watched the first episode and yeah... nice try, but it kind of sucked...

What won't suck is when someone inevitably takes the audio of Vince's craziness and puts it to the live action version in some out of context situations to a much funnier outcome.

I tapped out inside of 10 minutes on this one. I'm willing to give it a few weeks to build up a backlog before I check back in with it since it's always kind of unfair to judge a comedic cartoon by it's pilot episode since typically the cast and crew hasn't hit their stride yet but... that was a rough 8 minutes or so.

Hopefully they find their groove. Personally all I'm really wanting out of this is a Clone High type vibe. That's reasonable right? They need to smarten the faux-stupidity up and try to make their non-sequitors and tangential material less forced. They get it right with Vince's "A bra? I can't wear this! (Probably.)" and wrong with just about everything Ric Flair says.

This was more abysmally bad than the advertisements made it look.

Well, I wasn't so much calling the WWE hypocritical for Camp WWE, but more that it's just an odd choice for a company that prides itself on being family/TV-PG entertainment to make a cartoon (which is something that is usually targeted towards children) featuring it's wrestlers that is R-rated and intended only for adults. It would be like Disney saying "we're making a comedic Star Wars animated series featuring Luke and Han as kids, but it's going to be for adults only!" or something like that.

I think Adult Swim on Cartoon Network pretty much made this seem okay to other companies to do cartoons for adults on the same channel as cartoons for kids.

I can't confirm this as I don't have cable; but, where I see WWE falling down a bit is that they are marketing Camp WWE to everyone... those ads are running as bumpers for everything you watch on the network, they are Plugging it during PPV's, and no doubt during Raw/SD as well.... Whereas I'm guessing/hoping, that that Cartoon Network isn't running South Park ads during Tom and Jerry morning cartoons.

Well holy shit. Not what I expected this thread to be like at all. I expected it to suck balls but I thought it was fucking fantastic!

Watched it 3 times now, twice myself to catch the bits I missed first time due to laughing almost constantly, and once to show a few mates all of whom thought it was great.

Vince and Flair stole the show though. Best non-wrestling thing WWE has done by miles.

Okay, Vince's hall of history featuring his likeness overlaid across great people from history was pretty funny because.... well, c'mon, we all think that's exactly how Vince see's the world.

I pulled up an episode last night while drunk and didn't laugh once (turned it off after about ten minutes). Cartoon Vince was the closest thing to being entertaining, but otherwise...no.

And I don't quite get what ages they're going for...why are Triple H and Stephanie older than the Undertaker and Stone Cold? Or why is Cena supposed to be the same age as Big Show and Rock? I want answers, dammit!
