Quality hate-promo. Haven't seen someone tee off on Cena this way since Edge went insane with rage and jealousy during their feud. This is where
I will credit TNA because it was working with Christian and Angle that really helped AJ build his promo game.
You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know,
that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but
I'm not high. You know what I mean?

A chance to continue to surprise and put Dolph over aghain to show just how serious this brand split thing is I guess.

Crazy Random Thought:
I might be the only person who worries about the announcers and stuff, but here's a way to make smackdown and RAM different, because we
don't need two teams of Three-Man Commentary Table.
Otunga is your smackdown "Host", he takes you to & from ad breaks, and does the "later tonight, our main event is...!" fills. Then for the rest
of the in-ring action, he sends you "to our ringside colleagues, JBL and Mauro Renallo". Otunga isn't BAD, I just think he could be
used better if he didn't have to shoehorn into the Renallo/JBL dynamic.
Hell, if you want to go full-tard with the gimmick, give Otunga the power to Wander Around The Arena while he's hosting. So he can hang out
with kids who love Neville before Neville's match, find himself backstage when a fight 'happens' to break out, etc etc.

I like this idea a lot. I too also don't hate Otunga, but man oh man is he white bread and a glass of water exciting on the announce team.
He'd be great doing host/backstage vignette transition stuff. JBL and Mauro could easily transition into a sharper two-man vaguely
antagonistic/zinger team.

I have to give credit to Formula 1 racing for giving me the
idea. They have a sort of "pre race" show that's just a couple of guys with wireless mics & headsets roaming the pit lane talking to anybody
they can find about whatever's relevant. Take that, mix with wrestling action, and voila. Smackdown LIVE becomes Smackdown LIVE AND
INTERACTIVE, for better or worse. In this case, you can at least stage-manage the "interactive" bits to achieve whatever narrative goals
you're aiming for, taking away some of the "or worse" potential.

CZ,
You are right Otunga isn't bad, he's FUCKIN TERRIBLE . Want to fix it have him wander into the parking lot with a mic and get hit by a
car...with a driver smart enough to say, "hey! That's David Otunga! he sucks!" Who then throws it in reverse and finish the job.
And while I'm at it, I like JBL tossing out historical references but get them right. Bob Orton Jr. NEVER faced Bruno Sammartino in MSG. EVAH
Don't make shit up. He did face him in Philly as part of the Piper Pit thing.
And finally, if you asked which show was going to have stupid back stage things on it, I would not have picked SMACKDOWN.

So WWE is getting on board with the post-show-talk-show gimmick with Talkin' Smack tonight. I really hope this leads to Raw Doggin' It

Seems the Re-Dolphening is A Thing. I'm good with that because Bray will eventually get his day and I've long since been ready for DZ to
get back on top.
Overall not a bad show, but it's weird the longer RAM has a bit more pop and sizzle than the shorter Smackdown. I really liked the A.J./Cena
brodown throwdown on the mics and I still have no fucking idea what the deal was with Eva-bot 3000.
Is it me or is anyone else getting a tingle in their special purpose regions for Orton vs. Lesnar? I hope their match is a bit more even than BORK
SMASH! Young Randall has been Axe sprayed gold thusfar.
ETA: Respect to BFG but Canadian National Treasure Renny P is far more important to the proceedings than a mere host.

So the top matches for SummerSlam are:
Lesnar/Orton
Rollins/Balor
Ambrose/Ziggler
Cena/Styles
Yep, the WWE has successfully earned my $9.99 this month.
All in all, a pretty solid episode of Smackdown tonight. I liked the main event and the fact that the outcome was somewhat in doubt added some drama
to it. I assume we get Ambrose/Ziggler vs Wyatt/Rowan next week, with the requisite miscommunication between the faces leading to fisticuffs
post-match.
Also, no mention of Daniel Bryan's "Apollo Creed" flub at the beginning?

Re-Dolphening, eh? I like it. I can already hear the IWC diehards bemoaning Bray's lot in life right now, and more power to 'em I guess.
But I think he'll be fine. I mean, with the way the show closed out tonight I imagine this will lead to a Bray & Rowan vs. Dean & Dolph main
event next week where Bray can get his heat back after a miscommunication or two between the Double D's

Also, I can see the Bryan/Shane alignment becoming problematic in the future unless they want to be stuck in happy-go-lucky underdog mode forever.
Mick and Steph have that face/heel tension and Bryan/Shane most certainly do not.
Also2, I'm not getting my kishkes in a twist over Brothers of Wellness Violation Destruction crossing the streams on each other's show.
The match was made pre-split and both shows are making a, well, show of that crossover shit not being kosher. I'm good with it for now.
Also3, Re-Dolph is best Dolph. Cautiosly optimistic they're setting him up for a #heelchamprun after SS.

I kind of have mixed feelings, just because it's two weeks into the new brand split and we already have guys crossing over. But like you said,
it's being portrayed as a renegade act, plus it makes it kind of fun to see if/when Orton or Lesnar are going to pop up on the other's
show. So as long as it's just limited to this feud for the next few weeks, I'm okay with it.
Also, in spite of my mixed feelings, I really dug Lesnar's appearance tonight. For a guy whose appearances are normally pre-hyped to the moon, I
liked the no bells and whistles approach to him coming out through the crowd, F5-ing Orton, and leaving. It definitely added a sense of "anything can
happen in the WWE," which is a good thing.

If Miz/Maryse and Rusev/Lana weren't already a thing, I'd say that heel champ Dolph with Eva Marie by his side would be pretty great.

I'd like to see them hint towards the obvious tag match only for Dolph to be all ''naah, I proved myself last week, now let'
see how good you are''. Leading to Ambrose finding somebody else(who can later feud with Bray). I like how it's essentially two guys
with chips on their shoulders feuding against each other. Ambrose was flat out nasty against Dolph on the mic. It's a great contrast to Rollins
Balor which is the battle of the prodigal overachievers.

Smackdown was better than RAW this week, but probably only because of it being two hours rather than three.
I like the idea of the backstage interview session with Renee, but it needs to be tweaked...somehow. Now sure what that tweak is, exactly.
I like the idea of Otunga being the "host" although I think they did that with Miz WAY back when he started and it failed pretty horribly. They ARE
doing a good job of using that type of roll on the CWC with that tattooed guy form RAW, though. So it can work if presented properly.
Love the Orton/Lesnar angle, hate that it involves cross over from show to show. I would rather they have been drafted to the same show and it was
contained to either RAW or Smackdown.
Loved Dean's promo on Dolph and thought it went a long way towards selling their match at Summerslam. I don't think they really needed
Bray to interject and could have gotten away with Dolph beating a lesser name, rather decisively, in the same fashion, and then having Bray/Rowan
attack after THAT match, to get to the same conclusion.
Or better yet, have your show end with Dolph standing victorious after a fairly decisive win, and having the champ look on, concerned on whether or
not he awakened a sleeping giant with his promo.
I liked that the show didn't start in the ring with a 30 minute promo. That was different, and welcomed.
I have no clue what the Eva Marie thing was supposed to accomplish. I feel dumber for having watched that.
Where the FUCK was Shelton Benjamin?
