RIP John Saunders

http://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/17263104/john-saunders-long-familiar-air-face-espn-nearly-30-years-died-age-61

Two guys personify ESPN. Chris Berman and John Saunders. Berman is loud, obnoxious, classless, and mediocre. Saunders was professional, articulate, and likable.

Also, no cause of death revealed yet, but rumor has it that it was suicide. He battled depression for years.

Saunders was fantastic, in that he always blended into whatever set he was on, never the attention grabber but always the professional. Very sad.

Not that it matters, but I read on ESPN.com today that the family's statement was that he wasn't feeling well for several days and was unresponsive in the morning.

Hopefully, for the family's sake, he died of natural causes in his sleep.

Many of the guys at ESPN I loathed. Many others I didn't give a shit about. Saunders, on the other hand, I loved. As has been mentioned - always seemed like the professional with a rational functioning brain.

RIP, John.
