Future Congressman charged with assault

http://money.cnn.com/2017/05/24/media/montana-gop-greg-gianforte/index.html

quote:
Todd Mowbrey, 67, interjected that it wouldn't make any difference for diehard Republican voters.

We complain that politicians put party before country, but if we do that, why should we expect our representatives to be any different.

ETA: Trump carried Montana by 21 points last year, and the previous Rep won by 16. So yes he will probably still win today.

He'll likely win more because Montana has an extensive mail-in vote program, and over 200,000 of the 700,000 voters there have already voted. At least this is according to an article I read this morning. I'm surprised there isn't a mechanism to change your vote in situations like this one.

For those keeping track, this is the third Republican politician attack on a reporter over the past couple weeks. Welcome to the Trump world, where you can be openly racist and beat up people that don't agree with you and be hailed as a hero by your constituents.

I hope he doesn't get voted in, because if he does, it's probably the last nail in the coffin that I have in the belief that this ship will right itself quickly.

It's saying a lot when the guy who's been the most optimistic about Trump-related events not being as bad as they seem is close to losing hope himself.

Dear god, tell me you aren't talking about me?

I'm not optimistic about Trump at all. Have you actually read anything i've typed? I've railed against Trump since before it was cool. What I do have is faith in the system to counter him. I have faith North Korea isn't a threat, etc. At least not the threat all the chicken littles were screaming it was last month.

There are a lot of people on the far-left who have little to no understanding about the world around them. They just show themselves to be as ignorant about how things work as Trump supporters, and equally unable to compromise their ideology for the betterment of everyone.

Just because I don't slavishly adhere 100% to their mistaken beliefs doesn't mean somehow I'm a Trump supporter. Please don't assume these things of me, Thanks. Sorry about the rant, but even the implication that somehow I support the tinpot orange dictator irks me on a real level.

We'll see how it works out. Honestly, I think the Republican Party will drop Trump eventually, because Pence is a better fit for their desire to Christianize the US and to stick the poor into a neo-serf class for the 1%.

The ship _will_ right itself. I have faith in this. I just hope it's Hopefully sooner than later. And hopefully without violence. Because from what I've seen, the Trump supporters would pick up guns and fight for their champion. The far left only would pick up their phones to forward a meme on Facebook, and then they'd sip craft beers and complain about having to pay for college and how it's giving them PTSD.

ETA: A whole lot of irate and perhaps a bit of irrational and hypocritical bitching.

Fuck Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, he's raised $100,000 online SINCE news of the assault broke.

No, I know that you hate him with a passion. Sorry if it came across as me saying you like the guy. I meant in regards to the ship righting itself soon.

Hey, if beating up a reporter gets you a win by 25000 votes then how much would he have won by if he'd shot the guy in the face? Seriously, fuck you Montana.

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?
