Well, Miz beat up a bear and a clock, and Enzo and Cass are embroiled in an exciting mystery. Alexa Bliss existed, which was fine by me. Various other
things happened. Angle looked at a cell phone some. I made an Adam Rose reference. A guy got a spoon in his eye. Wait, that was Fear the Walking Dead
last night.
You did it, Nibbles. Now chew through my ball sack.

The RAW women's division is easily getting as bad as things were at the worst of the Diva's era. It's like in a matter of a few
weeks they've just destroyed it completely.
You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know,
that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but

I liked the Adam Rose reference. I'm kind of a rosebud.
Also, in the spirit of The Rick, I will acknowledge that most or all of those other things happened too.

Just to keep the theme going, SD is clearly The Walking Dead which, despite some flaws, is mostly coherent and not insulting to the viewer. RAW though
is entirely FTWD, with everything awful that automatically goes along with that comparison.
Tonight really sucked. I'm mad at myself for watching it. It just encourages them to be even stupider the next time. All that great talent and
skill and this is the best they could serve up tonight?

At this stage in the over-thinking over-producing process the house shows are about a light year ahead of the TV ones in terms of general fun.

quote: Credit 411 reader Kevin J. for the following report
I was at Raw last night in Wilkes-Barre and lets say this, I have been attending live events since I was 13 this one was painful to sit through. They
advertised Hardys, Bayley and Sasha, none of them were there. You think after a ppv and Raw not being at Mohegan for the first time in 7 years WWE
would pull out all the stops but they let a lot of people down. When someones kid is falling asleep during a live broadcast you know 3 hours is way
too long. Also handicap parking was filled up when we got there.
Smackdown was way better back in November when it came around; 40 percent of the audience left after the womens match.
It seemed like WWE thought it was just a good idea to waste a horrible night of action. I still had fun but it was still a horrible 3 hours to sit
through. I dont know how loud it came off on but the boos for reigns were really loud. If raw was two hours it would be better. Like I said before
for someones kid to fall asleep during it WWE must be doing something wrong.
You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know,

In fairness though, there is always the "card is subject to change" thing. So I get that guy was understandably disappointed, but I think with any
WWE event it should be assumed that just because someone is advertised, it doesn't mean that they are 100% definitely going to be there.
With that said, I did find it kind of odd that the Hardys, Balor, Bayley, Sasha, etc all weren't on RAW last night.
And I guess I'm in the minority of not hating last night's show. Joe/Rollins and Reigns/Wyatt were both pretty solid TV matches and I
enjoyed the Joe/Heyman and Miz segments. Everything else was just kinda there, but I've seen far worse efforts. With Great Balls of Fire (dear
God, why the hell are they keeping that name?) still five weeks away, it seemed like the WWE was content to deliver a fairly uneventful show before
kicking things up a notch with Brock's return next week.

This is why my WWE viewing is barely occasional. It's just not entertaining. The storylines, the angles, the character arcs just...suck.
You're right though, WWE will only listen to the bottom line. Ratings are already in decline (for a variety of reasons), but Network
subscription numbers, house show attendance, and merchandise sales would have to fall before Vince decides that there needs to be a new direction.
Each time you tune in to RAW or renew your Network subscription you are enabling mediocrity.
It's ironic too because the WWE is an embarrassment of riches in terms of talent right now. Both brands have remarkably deep rosters with 12 to
15 guys and girls who could be believable world title contenders. They just get undercut by awful segments, meandering storylines, dumb
gimmicks...what a waste.

I'm on the record as enjoying it, but then agayn I'm fucking dumb. Still basking in the afterglow of the end of the Joe/Pauly D segment.
Just the shit he was doing with his hands gently caressing Heyman's face while he calmly, patiently, and psychopathically told him what was
about to happen was amazing. Kudos to Paul for taking the bump and selling Joe's menace.
Curious about where they're headed with the Corey Graves thing and what's up with Kurt calling him out during the broadcast. Yes yes I
know I'm horrible for reasons, but outside of Vince ventrioquisting the announcers and as entertaining as he is to me for terrible reasons,
Booger Tee does not help those types of segments at all and actively makes them worse. Shucky ducky playa, I guess. Agayn I ask, is Graves well enough
to get back in the ring or maybe manage whatever team has been assaulting Enzo and Cass? A revival of manegerial duties would be nice in the tag
scene.
Also, yeah the RAM women have dropped precipitously in quality as of late. They did not stike Daniel Bryan earnest grassroots gold with Bayley,
unfortunately. Dunno how to fix that. Hopefully the Bo$$ can set shit right when she's done midget tossing.
And as much as I love him, does Kurt just seem off somehow? Like he's just a bit uncomfortable and awkward in his current role? Drugs were a
hell of a drug for him so we're not getting that wild abandon version of him anymore (which is good) but Flat Angle is pretty bland. Mayhaps he
needs to be more Obtuse. Heh heh, Obtuse Angle, I like that. Someone should use that someday.

I've been open about saying when WWE has been good, and have been called a sk8rboi more than once for it. Believe me, I don't like
ripping on them unnecessarily. But last night was just such a waste of talent and a being-drenched in stupidity experience that I had to complain.
Opening match - check. Pauly/Joe - check. Main event - check. So that's maybe half an hour to forty minutes of them doing their thing the right
way. The rest of it though? What the hell did they do with almost two hours when every other match on the show put together didn't even use up
fifteen minutes of time? Seriously WWE, just fuck the fuckitty fuck fuck fuck yourself with a barbed-wire wrapped baseball bat fuck off if
you're going to fill up another two hours with essentially nothing.
BTW, Balor appeared for a dark match, continuing WWE's recent trend of packing the after-show match with goodness instead of, I don't
know, putting all their best talent in prominent segments during the televised part of the show so the viewers at home can enjoy it. Gah, I
can't even!

And they buried Balor twice on the show. Once, during the Heyman/Joe segment when Heyman said that Balor was the "best case scenario" for Brock, and
once during the Joe/Rollins face-off when Rollins mocked Joe for "only" beating Finn Balor.
They made Finn look like a complete pussy.

Well, I asked mostly-seriously, because I know my tastes are odd, and I know I wasn't giving the show
full-attention. So there was a chance I missed something entirely detestable/awesome in small packages, etc. I generally enjoyed the parts I saw, but
I don't remember much about them right this moment. I am glad you're enjoying things.

I don't blame that kid for falling asleep, I probably would too if I had to sit through three hours of that.
The two things I'm most interested in right now are the Enzo/Cass story, and the Angle/Graves story, mostly because I have no idea where
they're going with either one. Although with Enzo/Cass, it'll probably be Cass was the attacker, and then faked his own assault last
night to throw everyone off the scent.
I just record Raw and end up fast forwarding through most of it. I still watch promos and vignettes, so I know what's happening... but the
problem is that everything right now is just so fucking boring and/or predicable.
Look at the opening match last night-- why would I spend 30 minutes watching a match, when I know exactly how it's going to play out within the
first ten seconds? Back and forth for a while, Bray dominates for a bit until Reigns hits a dumb spear for the win.
I can't even be bothered to care about the Samoa Joe stuff, no matter how awesome that segment was last night, because it's all building
up to a match where the outcome is never going to be in doubt. Why should I become invested in a story like that?
And then there's shit like Kalisto vs. Crews/Titus. Meh. Even if that's barely worth fast forwarding through, since they only get like
two or three minutes per match anyhow.
Is everyone mad here?
Of course they are, and you are too... otherwise, you wouldn't have come here.

I was thinking the same and would be totally on-board with it. Then Enzo can still do his spiel for the crowd and be the lovable(?) babyface and Cass
can get his chance to show what he can do on his own (and as a heel to boot).

I really enjoyed last night as well, to the point that I really wish this was more than what we're all assuming it will be (blowoff match at
GBOF, Lesnar wins and moves on to his Summerslam opponent)! Hell, Joe-Lesnar at WrestleMania would be alright by me if last night is any indication
of the awesomeness we're in for! Although the "Paul Heyman gets beaten up to make Challenger X look like a threat" storyline that gets done
every few years is getting a bit stale.

That's the thing, though - Pro wrestling IS mediocrity.
It's always been this way. There is not a single extended period in the history of our so-called sport where weekly television has consistently
been entertaining. Not in the Attitude Era. Not in the classic 80s NWA. Not in the era of Ruthless Aggression. Not ever.
It has always been a series of occasional highs surrounded by treading water and getting week to week until you strike gold. I, personally, am okay
with that because I fucking love wrestling. I'll watch bad wrestling before I'll watch most other shit on TV. And we get SHITLOADS of good
wrestling, from an in-ring standpoint, far better than we ever got in the 90s, on a regular basis. But storylines have always been hit and miss
because, spoiler, wrestling isn't terribly good at telling stories. It's a limited artform in which all conflicts get resolved basically
in the same way, by fighting. It doesn't leave a great deal of room for nuance.
I'm not an apologist for WWE, because there's nothing to apologize for. It's wrestling, same as it ever was. Sometimes good,
oft-times awful, occasionally sublime. I savor the moments, love the workers who entertain me and try not to sweat things too much. And, yeah, maybe I
just have lower expectations. To me, that bit with Joe and Heyman, that was a thumbs up for me for the whole show, because I fucking love Samoa Joe
and he looked like a bad-ass motherfucker, the way he should.
