OOfficial Discussion Thread for: SmackDown (June 13, 2017)

Tonight on SmackDown: with just 5 days to go until the Money in the Bank PPV, the blue brand is (wisely) putting the participants in the titular ladder match front and center... this evening's main event will pit AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Sami Zayn against Kevin Owens, Dolph Ziggler, and Baron Corbin... with Sunday's MitB Match being a high stakes every-man-for-himself affair (and with ample prickly heat already existing on the heel side of this 6-man), I wouldn't be surprised if things came to a messy end.... but at the same time, these 6 ought to put on a hell of a show getting to the schmozz...

Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton are slated for an in-ring "confrontation" tonight... try as I might, I cannot overcome a crippling degree of apathy when I think about these two on my TV at the same time... and that's not a good place for the WWE Title to be stuck...

Three more confirmed matches: (1) Naomi vs. Tamina in a non-title match (Tamina got a win over Naomi last week, but only thanks to interference from Lana, who is now embarking on a career as an in-ring heel, including a title shot against Naomi on Sunday)... (2) Charlotte vs. Natalya (a preview of the first ever Women's MitB Match coming up this weekend)... and (3) The New Day and the Fashion Police teaming up for 8-man action against the Usos and Colons (a preview of the New Day challenging for the Usos' tag titles at the PPV)...

Assuming the main event gets 20-25 minutes, those 5 segments (plus some interviews/skits with the 6 men in the main event to hype it up) ought to be enough to fill up the entire show... but WWE could also use another match or two for Sunday (at least one more, for the preshow), so whipping up something quick for the likes of Luke Harper/Erick Rowan/Mojo Rawley/Tye Dillenger could also some to pass tonight; as it stands, they're all just treading water... Zack Ryder and/or Rusev could easily pop back up for an insta-match, too (in the case of Ryder, all the pieces are in place to do Hype Bros vs. Singh Bros, with no real extra storytelling necessary)...

That is all. End communication....

The flOOr is yours, OO Nation. Don't wait till after 11pm to post, either. Pre-show previewing and prognosticating is certainly welcome. So discuss, debate, and rate!

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?

You guys remember how right after the Smackdown Six were done feuding, they inmediately moved a lot of the players around to freshen the show up a bit? Angle and Benoit back to the World Title scene, Edge dicks around in the midcard, Mysterio to the Cruiserweights, and The Guerreros stay in the tag team ranks.

I really hope the MITB 6 get something similar after the match is done. I'm burnt out on Owens vs Zayn and Styles vs Corbin/Ziggler.

Wiki says there's really only about a half-dozen partially famous people out there who are named Mojo.

I have vivid nightmares going back to 1986 or so of the local FM people going apeshit with the alt-pop of the era and playing Elvis Is Everywhere to death. And The Future's So Bright (I Gotta Wear Shades). And I Wanna Be A Cowboy. Relive the 1980's? Mmm, nope. Would rather go through this....

I was there. It was hell. And I still remember it all.

Also, to stay somewhat topical, the wrasslin' show tonight was OK. Kind of by-the-numbers but still way above what RAW served up yesterday. Charlotte is just a beast. There's no other way to say. My boner for Lana doesn't extend to her new theme music though. That kind of horn tootling is far too likely to cause some sort of seizure.

This post just made my day.

Pretty much a standard pre-PPV show last night, even ending with the typical tag match/ladder clusterfuck.

I really hope they don't put the title on Lana. I'm not even sure what they're trying to accomplish with this new dancing character with weirdly catchy music. Aside from her newfound ability to do one move, I have a feeling she'll resemble the old days of a Women's division better left forgotten... when we were treated to matches with Debra, Sable, Terri, etc.

Is everyone mad here?
Of course they are, and you are too... otherwise, you wouldn't have come here.
