Samoa Joe is King Kong

So, from the moment I first heard it, Samoa Joe's music hit the right spot. It reminded me of a segment from a King Kong ripoff movie I loved as a kid.

https://youtu.be/43ScFqoNA3g?t=7m

Although the segment with the music has nothing to do with Kong, I can't help but think the production guys must have been fans of the movie.

Anyway, I just wanted to show you guys the clip.

This video contains content from Miramax, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds?!?!

After some digging around in Mighty Peking Man lore, I can say unreservedly that yes, Joe does in fact need to come out to this music. :p

That's the theme for when the Women's Division gets turned back into Divas because It's What's Best For Business.

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?

There's definitely Kaiju references in there, but much more similar to Godzilla than Kong music.

Samoa Joe's music sounds more like those Arby's "We've Got the Meats" ads.

Godzilla not King Kong.

Joe's WWE entrance music is heavily based on the song he used in the indies as his entrance theme, "Simon Says" from Pharoahe Monch: https://youtu.be/T7Fy5w2klbg

"Simon Says" samples the Godzilla March theme: The song is the theme to Mothra vs Godzilla https://youtu.be/Gn9PiU6UW_k

The intro to every theme song that Samoa Joe had in TNA also used a variant of the Godzilla March, even if it didn't necessarily fit the song he was using, because TNA.

I can see the Godzilla nods for sure now that you posted the link. I still think there's more resemblance to the Peking Man segment through. Guess if Joe is a Kaiju fan, he's sure to know about Peking Man too?

On a related item, the first six notes of Nakamura's entrance music are borrowed from Darth Vader...

Samoa Joe mentioned on a recent Talk is Jericho podcast that he definitely took his theme from Godzilla (he's a big Godzilla fan).
