New WWE Survey...some surprising questions...
The new survey for WWE Network subscribers asks what is most interesting to you for a premium tier of programming. Gauging interest in RoH and TNA is
interesting, and asking about bringing back a TV-14 ECW (just let it stay dead so we can remember the good times!) is puzzling to me. But for the love
of holy Jeebus, no more f'n scripted "reality"/drama/comedy shows (except Southpaw!) But yes to new Legends of Wrestling shows, RoH, alternate
play-by-plays, and early access/preferred pricing. I would just need to see what the "cost per shows I'll pay extra for" will be before I
commit.
New Reality Shows:Reality shows featuring life on the road for WWE Superstars, an insiders view of WWE Superstars intense training and workout

Thanks for going to the effort to share the full detail of this over here. I got the same survey and wanted to do it but it looked like a total time
consuming pain in the ass so I punted.
For some reason I feel I have to explicitly state that the above is not sarcasm. That's what the internets have done to me.
A lot of the stuff they had in there is pure shit. For example...
Getting breaking news first. Really? Like 10 minutes before everyone else or it goes viral? And I get to pay more to get that?
Fan voting. It used to be that we let anyone and everyone vote under the premise that their vote actually mattered and we didn't have the
outcome predetermined. But now YOU, as part of paying extra, get exclusive access to this. Roman Reigns is winning the Superstar of the Year Slammy
again, but vote for anyone you want to because YOU!
Some of the non-content stuff is interesting.
Ability to download stuff and watch offline. As part of a package that's worth paying extra for.
Social Viewing. Party mode with your friends. Of course your friends all have to be premium tier also....but interesting.
I have a bit of a hard time with the content stuff, and for sake of this I'm only going to focus on the pure wrestling content because I
don't give a shit about any of the other stuff. Netflix and other things have taught me well that I pay my monthly fee and I get access to a
bunch of content and they do a good job rotating content in and out to keep me coming back for more. I get that content has costs. I'd rather
deal with a $1 price raise per month than have to start picking and choosing what specifically I want. And if I did to that, it would be mod up,
binge watch, mod down.....I guess just like a lot of people do with WWE Network free month.
Anyhow, this is at least the second and I think the third time they've done a survey on additive tier(s), and this one is far more in depth and
detailed than the others. They event went the "you have $10 allocate it across these items" to get a sense of relatively what this stuff was worth
to people. I would bet large sums of money that if there is a next one, it will be full blown conjoint/max diff where they make us choose between
options and they keep swapping elements in and out to figure out what the optimal combination is.
Yes I have a market research background.

I really like the idea of director's cut stuff, with guys doing behind the scenes commentary over shows or matches. That just seems like fun.
TNA being listed as one of the options is UHHHHHHHHHHHH. The Anthem guy recently admitted WWE tried to buy the tape library, but said they offered too
little and he would be a fool not to try and monetize it on their own app. Of course, nobody gives a shit about their app so he may change his
tune.
Select House shows, yes, please.
I say yes to all the tournaments. Never enough tournaments for me, really.

Alternative Announcing:
Yes. I want Ole Anderson and Jim Cornette shitting all over everything. I also want to see Tony Schivone return but have to commentate with Kevin
Nash playing David Crockett.
Comedy Series:
This one is simple - expand Southpaw to be a half "in front of the camera" half "behind the scenes" territory wrestling show. But be true to the
source material and the source material should be Jim Cornette's stories and what really went on, not what the boys think is witty. Think
"It's Always Sunny" and Episode 1 is "The Gang Goes to Dairy Queen". Smelly jobber, jobber that shoots on the boys, Herc knocking out a fan
with an open hand slap "ah, Jimmy, if you hit someone with a closed fist, you can hurt him.", Steve Williams beating the shit out of Terry Garvin at
the Boston Garden with a wooden chair, Buddy Landell crashing cars, Ole Anderson/Bill Watts type as the booker, etc. The characters in the business
at the time were so good, the thing would write itself.

God, I am going to get flamed for this, but I didn't like Southpaw.
Those old territory days provided some of the best wrestling of the era, and produced most of the recognized older names. I have a fondness for that
time and that style.
Southpaw, rather than pay homage, mocked and parodied. Like, "Haha! Look at ridiculously bush league and outrageously campy this whole thing was.
HAHA!" Meanwhile, the reality is that those territories were often far more realistic, bloody, and interesting than anything outside of Hulk Hogan
the WWF was doing.
I'm probably taking this far too seriously...

I put all $10 of my allotment on TNA. They already have the best people from it. Just buy it so they can start mentioning where guys have been
during ten year breaks. Unless it leads to a TNA invasion. I am against that because invasions are code for Vince reminding everyone his brand is
the best and no one else will ever be as good.

Just got done doing this. I could give two shits about 90% of the items they would offer but I do think it would be fun to go back to a time when TNA
was actually, you know, good or to have some historic ROH stuff at my fingertips since I've never watched a large portion of their old days
(i.e. CM Punk vs. Raven, etc.).
The TV-14 "ECW"-style show also caught my eye. I'm always up for some good ol' T&A; to go along with my wrestling. Although I certainly
thought of the fact that ECWWE sucked for the vast majority of its run so hopefully they will have learned from that.
I also liked the "Director's Cut" idea as I'm always up for new spins on the classic matches/PPV's we all know and love.
Other than that, I really don't think I need to watch WrestleMania in virtual reality quite yet.

No, I don't think you are. I enjoyed Season 1 more than Season 2 because I felt it was closer to the source material instead of wrestlers
getting in their gags. Like in Season 1, I remember one of the wrestlers was saying how his rival sent Greg Valentine to his trailer park to put his
in the armbar, which reminded me of Tommy Rich's saying "You don't know who my mystery partner is going to be, it could be Andre the
Giant".
Southpaw can still be the vehicle for the southern wrestling territory, but they would have to tighten it up and make the characters in the show match
the real wrestlers of that era instead of just spewing out what they think might be funny by 2017 standards.
Basically, I'd like to see the GLOW series with a southern territory.
I only signed up so I can read the forum.

I don't know why the WWE doesn't bring back a Tuesday Night Titans again... maybe with the Miz hosting in lieu of McMahon... it would be
stupid cheap to produce, it could give you anywhere from one night a week, to several nights a week worth of content on the live stream, and
it's a great way to help talent get over/recap what happened in the WWE this week.
Honestly I mostly use the network to catch up on old weekly shows and PPV's, with a smattering of the interview shows like legends with JBL and
bring it to the table... the new PPV's are a welcome bonus.
A directors cut commentary show of legendary matches would be something I'd watch and there would be no end of shows they could do. It would
also be cool to see them do more 24 type stuff like maybe behind the scenes in the writers room, and through production, but I don't see those
as being anything more than an hour or two of TV and not a long term show.

Have not come across this survey but I do like some of the possibilities.
I advocate for the Other promotions. It would be slick to have some Puroresu and Lucha etc under the Network umbrella.
Director's Cut also sounds like a swell idea. Would love to get some insight and stories from various workers about their matches and what was
happening around those days.
Yes to House Shows, sort of like the WWE programming use to do for MSG shows.
Yes to Special Shows. Beast in the East was fantastic. We need more of that.
TV-14 is also welcomed. We need that edge and something a little looser. It should not be ECW but theoretically ECW could work on the Network. When
Shane and Paul E. were originally involved, it was set to be an online only show that would have retained more of an undilutated ECW program. Plus it
would have been Bucky Beaver free. Hopefully this network based program will also be free of Beaver.
Offline programming is something that I am surprised is not offered on more platforms. Amazon does it and it is great for me. Netflix does it to a
degree as well. Hulu and The Network need to get on this. Great way to save battery life and data.

In all seriousness, the "alternate commentary over old events" idea seems to be a direct ripoff of Conrad Thompson's podcasts with Bruce
Prichard and Tony Schiavone.
And I am pretty sure that is on purpose as I was reading that various old PPV events would spike in viewership on the Network, shortly after they
would release a PPV related podcast that would go into a deep dive creatively and logistically as to why they did what they did.
Now, it would be easy to simply just have Conrad and Co. do it FOR the Network, but all the stories and potshots they take at people in every episode
is what helps make it interesting. Having that reigned in and "WWE'd" would probably make it suck balls.

In how many countries could they do a UK-type tournament? Mexico and Japan might not be worth it with so many thriving promotions holding the top
talent, Canada could be awesome, I was thinking Scotland but was that covered in the UK tournament? I know there's small wrestling scenes in
Germany, Norway, Taiwan, Argentina but enough to hold a tournament on the level of guys like Bate, Dunne, Seven, etc?Showcasing relatively unknows
that win people over with their raw skills.
Alternate Audio would be great. Vince would either have to split his time lording over all the announcers letting the main team breath or
they'd be one anounce team that would be loose and not so scripted.

I don't quite see it as a rip off of what Conrad and Bruce do - they summarize the match after they've re-watched it. In my head, I I
think of the alternative commentary to be like the commentary that's included with DVDs and Blu-Rays where you're watching the match, and
there's behind-the-scenes commentary alongside it. (Like watching Clerks but with alternative commentary like Kevin Smith and Jay Mewes talking
over the movie in real-time)
For example, I could see Bret Hart vs Stone Cold do commentary on their own match while the match is going on as you're watching it - so their
commentary is a real time reaction to what's on the screen, rather than summarizing away from watching it. Alternatviely, if it's not the
wrestlers themselves, it could be a producer of the match and maybe even a commentator who called the match who talk about the match and such while
it's going on - not calling the action, but talking about how they felt during. Yeah, it wouldn't have the potshots quite like Bruce and
Conrad, but it doesn't necessarily need to for it to be interesting and entertaining.

I wonder if they're secure enough to have their own MST 3000-type show commentating on their shitty angles. HHH and Kane sit back and watch HHH
fucking a mannequin, all the announcers mocking Cole as we review the time Heidenreich took him backstage, Lance Storm and William Regal breaking down
the technical aspects of so many botchfests we've gotten in matches between untrained models and clumsy, green giants.

They had a show like that briefly at one point, didn't they? Pre-Network, with Road Dogg and Josh Matthews? There was a puppet version of HHH?
Did I hallucinate that? If not, is that ON the network anywhere?

I remember that! "Are You Serious," it was called, and it was mostly enjoyable. It might not be on the Network, but I imagine it's still on
YouTube. But it didn't really go after the high-profile stinkers, like Katie Vick; mostly it targeted harmless mid-1990s WrestleCrap, like
Bastion Booger. And when it did tackle bigger failures, they were usually WCW's.

I'm currently going through both and Conrad mentions that the week he and Tony reviewed Halloween Havoc 98 (the same week of the 205 love debut)
and the Halloween Havoc 98 received more views than 205 Live.
