The Road To Wrestlemania Megathread
Now that Raw and Smackdown have completed their "go home" shows for the Rumble, it is time to let the wild and reckless speculation, baseless
rumor-mongering, and outlandish fantasy booking to BEGIN!
The ultimate goal of course is to try and pin down a card for Wrestlemania 34 while plotting a course for the journey there.
Good luck and DILLY DILLY

I might be in the minority, but I don't want Nakamura to win the Rumble... I find him boring at least in his current incarnation.
In saying that I do want the WWE to stop, at least for a year or two, using the rumble to do what they want and advance something that feels forced,
or where the rumble isn't needed to accomplish it as it just lessens the rumble overall... Nakamura would not fit into that mold and would be
welcome for at least being different.
If I had my druthers I'd go with Strowman as the winner of the Rumble... the man kicks ass, and I think needs, and could use that win over Brock
more than Reigns (I mean spread the wealth around a bit)... it would also be a nice story given their conflicts to date.

It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have a ref bump cause a Strowman pinfall on Lesnar not to get counted and then have Lesnar pin
Kane to win, only to then have Strowman take someone out, steal their place in the Rumble, demolish everyone and win it. I'd be happy with
something like that happening on Sunday.

While that would be an awesome match, they haven't given Nakamura any consistent momentum and I can't imagine why anyone would cheer him
over AJ. There is no story there yet. This may change if he turns heel.
Seeing as it is that Jinder probably won't win the Rumble, my next pick would be Finn Balor. That would be a fine match with AJ.
Braun should win the title at Rumble. He is all build up and no payoff. Brock can perhaps win it back and then Reigns can kill everyone together at
Mania.
Having seen that Undertaker promo, I seriously think that the current creative and even Vince have decided to hate him. He is a legend and deserves to
go out with his head held high. Last year was good enough. Why have him fight Cena? They have fought before and I have had it with Taker losing. Let
me keep my great memories WWE!
The very very beautiful Becky Lynch should hold a title. Maybe both of them at once. Mania would be the perfect place for her crowning. So she
probably won't be in the picture at all and we will most likely have Harley Quinn and Flair Hogan Hybrid in the main events. Sigh...

Miz vs AJ would be 10,000,000,000 times more entertaining than Shinsuke vs AJ.

Speaking of the Miz, the dirt sheetz are reporting that he is in line for a "monster push" and that it will lead to a "major match" at Mania -
probably with a celebrity or athlete. Start placing bets on who that will be.
So here are some of the rumored matches for Mania as of right now:
Reigns vs. Brock
AJ vs. Nakamura
Cena vs. Taker (Elias is supposedly just a placeholder)
HHH vs. Angle
Shane vs. Bryan
Miz vs. Un-Named Major Celebrity/Athlete
Charlotte vs. Rhonda Rousey

Miz vs Batista doesnt.
If its an athlete then its gonna have to be a football player, a MMA/boxer guy or someone who is recently retired because baseball, hockey and
basketball are mid season.
If its McGregor or Mayweather Id shit myself but they seem like the best bets aside from The Rock.

Mayweather would be a terrible choice. I know there are important people in WWE that like him, but hiring him basically undoes whatever goodwill they
have received from dumping Rich Swann and Enzo Amore. Should they do something like that, I hope it would come back to bite them in the pocketbook.

Braun winning the IC Championship at Mania actually makes a lot of sense. He likely won't be in either World Title match, since those spots
seem long reserved... but he could win that belt from Miz to a huge face pop, and that will free up Miz to go after the main belt.
Is everyone mad here?
Of course they are, and you are too... otherwise, you wouldn't have come here.

As a huge fan of both guys I HATE this matchup. Braun vs Miz should be a squash, or would require Miz to pull out every shitty heel trick he has to
eek out a win under the shadiest of circumstances. Neither guy needs that. What Miz needs is a signature cleanish major win, period. The Roman win
was a step in the right direction but it still required 2 flunkies, 2 finishers and a turnbuckle. Hed have to do double that to beat Braun and it
would be silly AF to do at Mania that way.
If they want to have Miz lose in 20 seconds and a fan revolt on Raw then I get it, but Miz isnt a simpathetic face like Daniel Bryan.
Yet ... all of this is better than Nakamura winning on Sunday.

Something about the prospect of Braun vs Miz for the IC title just seems completely off. I think its a step down for Braun after the year he has had
but I understand that beyond the title picture, there's very few places for him to go.
And does the Miz get to step up? I believe that he really deserves to as he has had a frankly stellar year and would bring much needed freshness to
the title picture.
When was the last time the IC champ was clearly earmarked for the Main Event/Big Belt? I cant think of anyone since Austin in late 97/early 98.

Whats going on with Ziggler? Is there any chance he is a suprise entrant for the Rumble? I would take him as a Smackdown winner over a hell of a lot
of others?

Nakamura is the current odds-on favorite at 5/6
Reigns is next at 5/2
Tied for third at 9/2 are....
...Dolph Ziggler
...Daniel Bryan
Balor, Cena, and Strowman are all 7/1
Corbin 10/1
Orton 12/1

Guess this is the place for it now - but the idea of Nakamura/Styles for WM makes me cringe.
So, let it be Roman, then just make the Lesnar match and keep Roman away from a mic 'till mania.
Then SD can carry on the main event angle from the Rumble with a Syles/Owens/Zayn 3-way for the title.
The rumoured Miz/Strowman matchup is an odd one. I can see where it comes from but it would be detrimental to both. It's such an obvious
mismatch.
Strowman/Kane falls cout anywhere or streetfight hossfest would be preferable, and let someone step up to Miz.
On another note - the UK belt hasn't been mentioned, and will probably stand best chance of being on Takeover, but it would be great to see
Dunne/Bate one more time on a big stage.

The idea of anyone preferring Roman Reigns wrestling over Nakamura makes my head explode.
Then I realize we live in a world where President Donald Trump is an actual thing that is real.

I think Trumps an asshole and prefer Reigns over Nakamura. Roman has had a steady stream of unbelievable matches for a year straight. Just cause
Roman was overpushed 3 years ago doesnt mean he isnt great now.
Also, Nakamura hasnt had a single great match since his call up. Dont blame WWE. He main events shows all the time and is presented as a huge
deal, but hasnt connected with a large part of the audience. And its not even the language barrier as shown by Asuka who is 20,000 times more
worthy of her push based upon her WWE work.

I don't think CCharger was equating Roman Reigns fandom with Trump support, just saying neither of them made sense to him.
I'm with you, though, on Reigns being far better these days than people are willing to give him credit for.

I just hope they don't give him the #30 spot, that is just going to be shit on for years.

Miz vs Finn Balor makes sense since you have the miztourage and Balor Club. I still think DB is going to face Miz before he leaves WWE.....but since
I know that everything is going counter to that and maybe IM just saying what I want.....Miz/Balor is a good pairing.

So after tonight I guess we've got a clearer picture of what WM will look like, or at least what matches they've put some work into that
may, or may not make the cut:
SD side:
*AJ versus Nakamura: WWE title
*Matt Hardy versus Wyatt
*Owens/Zayn and something to do with Shane/Bryan
Raw side has a lot more questions right now, but probably also a lot more guys who will appear on the WM card (see below)
*Asuka versus __________
You know you've got half a match with each of the below, and odds are at least some of them will match up against one another:
*Reigns versus _____________
*Brock versus _____________
*Cena versus _____________
*Braun versus _____________
*Charlotte versus ___________
*Rollins versus ____________
*Rousey versus _____________
HHH also feels like he's become the new Undertaker in terms of giving some kind of old school boost to the card, and who knows about Taker
himself.
Balor and Miz will probably make the cut, but may get put into some kind of multi-man matchup (MITB type thing, or 6 man tag).
My guess:
*Reigns versus Lesnar Universal title
*Braun versus HHH
*Asuka versus Charlotte
*Rousey versus Bliss
*AJ versus Nakamura WWE title.
*Balor Club versus Miztourage
*Matt versus Wyatt... they may muck this up a bit and make it a tag match?
*Cena versus _____________ (honestly I'd slot him into the Brock or Braun match in lieu of Taker)
*Rollins versus Jordan w/ Angle
*The Shane, Bryan, and ZaynKO deal...
That's 8-10 matches that are pretty likely to make the cut across what... 4-5 hours of actual WM run time... Throw in the HOF recap, maybe a
Rock or Austin promo and that leaves you room to maybe throw in a US title match, and one of the tag titles in a match... Not sure how you would leave
New Day off the card, so maybe they back up Matt while the Bludgeon bros back up Bray (which feels like a step backwards if you are spinning them off
on their own)... and it would feel like a crime to leave The Bar and Usos off the card given how much they have done over the past year.
That leaves you the Andre thing (Rusev wins, it's his day after all), and maybe a tag title match as your pre show thing... God knows the WWE
wants to make WM an all day thing so you've probably got room to add a couple more matches to the pre-show (Guess the US title gets demoted to
here, and some kind of womens match).
One thought I had... and I know they had to bring in a lot of vets to round out the full 30 spots... but I wonder how close we are to a women's
tag title belt... maybe cross brand to start? Some pre-qualifiers could eat up some tv on the road to WM, and it would make a nice 2nd or 3rd match on
the WM card to crown your first women's tag team.... cause really, until such a time as the WWE manages to come up with feuds outside of the
title matches that don't feel hastily thrown together to give a payday to several ladies at once I still have a hard time buying into them
treating the ladies like they do the men.
