1. End Of All Hope - Nightwish (Fingers crossed that they will one day bring back Tarja as their singer)
2. El Ciervo Vulnerado - The Mars Volta
3. Insipid 2000 - In Flames
4. Ebin - Sublime (Great tune about Brad's buddy who apparently turned to skinhead-ism)
5. Stained Glass Cross - Down (Can't wait to get their new live DVD in a few weeks!!)
6. L'Via L'Viaquez - The Mars Volta (I think it's time for me to delete some Mars Volta off my iPod. They've been on there a
while.
7. Don't Push - Sublime (So strange how, out of 1,183 songs, I get two in this ten-song shuffle from Sublime)
8. Harvest - Opeth (One of their most beautiful tunes. I even put it on a mix CD for my mom and she loves it)
9. Halo - Machine Head (One of the best songs off of "The Blackening")
10. Float - Flogging Molly (I came home from the bar drunk as hell last weekend and fired up a concert of their's I had DVR'd and it
turned me into an even bigger fan than I already was. These guys fucking OWN)

As someone who loved Wu-Tang in the '90s, it's good to see that Inspectah Deck is still making music (and getting MSD's endorsement,
nonetheless). I've heard songs here and there from the various members of the Wu in the last few years, with mixed results. Masta
Killa's album from '06 or '07 was way better than I thought it would be. And I know a lot of Ghostface's recent stuff has
been really strong.

M'Man!!! I couldn't agree with you more! I waited for YEARS for Masta Killa to finally drop a solo, and when he did "No Said Date" (04
I wanna say?) I had that as a strong contender for record of the year. I think the one you're talking about was "Made in Brooklyn", not bad.
Funny thing is though - WU TANG really is forever!!! I mean, just this year alone Rae, Ghost and Meth got together to drop "Wu Massacre". I loved
that Inspectah Deck joint, despite mixed critical reviews. Plus Wu-affiliates like Tru Master, Hell Razah, 9th Prince (founder of KillArmy, younger
brother to RZA) and 60 Second Assassin all dropped gems this year.
Of course it doesn't help our cause (or hide our age) when we rant about stuff like this. I was in the office not too long ago talking about
some Wu shit, and this girl (who's like 21-22ish) walked by and was like "Wu Tang? That's for old people". Sigh. Wu-Tang is forever,
bitch!!!

When I heard that King's X was opening up for Accept I thought "Holy
shit, if you get that to be the bill underneath Judas Priest you will the most awesome, gayest metal show ever."
It'd be the only show where I'd be more concerned about myself getting lured to the back of the tour bus rather than my wife.
Then I found out that Udo isn't fronting this version of Accept. So my metallic, gospel themed gay experience fantasy nightmare
can't come true.

1. Michelle Shocked - Fever Breaks
I've been humming this for weeks now, itching to get hold of a guitar to try it because it's just dying to be re-worked with heavy guitars
as an alternative.
2. Tokio Hotel - Mansoon
I'd never heard of this lot until I picked up Guitar Hero World Tour, and although this track is probably the best thing on their album,
it's a good 40 minutes of quality. Meanwhile the layering and rhythm on this are superb.
3. Big & Rich - 8th of November
Yeah, so it's a country song about Vietnam. It's still got great harmonies and is excellent to sing along to!
4. Linkin Park - New Divide
This is what I expected the new album to be full of, but I was sorely disappointed instead.
5. James Taylor - Fire and Rain
Just a beautiful song that fits Taylor's catalogue so well in hindsight that I'm surprised that it took until 2007 before I heard it.
6. Stone Gods - You brought a knife to a Gunfight
Still waiting for a second Stone Gods album, so went back to their first. This brings together the best lyrical parts of what used to be The Darkness
along with bigger focus on the guitars and a darker edge.
7. Bad Religion - The Empire Strikes First
Slightly down-tempo for Bad Religion, but the message it very clear in terms of the perception of George Bush's "preventative war"
doctrine.
8. Paula Seling and Ovi - Playing with Fire
This was the Romanian entry at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest and just trips off the tongue nicely, with a very Eurovision-y taste to it.
9. Hanna Pakkarinen - Go Go
A bouncy pop song from the Finnish 2006 ESC entrant. Pakkarinen has quite a broad range of songs in her repertoire, from quiet ballads to country to
pop to rock. In some of them, at her best, she pulls off a sounds strongly remeniscent of Garbage. Here she drives the song along nicely.
10. Vic Reeves (& the Wonderstuff) - I'm a believer
Just a super party song, with a fairly faithful reprise of the Monkees' original, but good use of Vic's accent.

Lol, I know I know. We debated long and hard on this ("Return of the Devil's Son" DID drop in 2010)... and since we DID include
Scientifik's "Criminal" in the 2006 tournament the precedent has been set. We really liked those albums and had to include them somehow! And
technically, "Return of the Devil's Son" is a *new* 2010 release.
Also another precedent we set - for years we debated online Mp3 only albums. Should they be included? Excluded? For a while we said "strictly
barcoded albums you can buy in a store"... but in either 08 or 09 we really had to make a change to that requirement, as more and more records are
going the strictly digital route, so that was another change in tourney procedure over the years. So YES we include albums from dead rappers if we
like them and they're re-released in the appropriate year, and YES we count mp3 only releases as "albums"!!!

PS, please also note Ghostface "Apollo Kids" technically isn't even OUT yet... but we got that early from the ill spot in Broken City. We DID
include some EPs (notably the Digital Underground one and we did include a few "mixtapes" as well, if they were EXTRA dope.)

Since I've gotten a crapload of new albums on my iPod in the last few months, I figured it was time to bust out a random playlist. I'm
doing 20, even though I think I'm breaking the ground rules I laid in my original post. I'm just following MSD's lead from
above.
1. Serenity Painted Death - Opeth (One of their heaviest. And most awesome)
2. How Beautiful You Are - The Cure (So similar to the much more famous "Love Song" I think this was almost an earlier version of it)
3. Too Shy To Scream - AFI (Can't wait for a new album from Davey and the boys)
4. I'll Be There For You - Bon Jovi (Only one of the greatest power ballads ever)
5. Porch (Live) - Pearl Jam (Got their recent "Live On Ten Legs" album and it's pretty awesome)
6. Another Part Of Me - Michael Jackson (One of my favorites from MJ)
7. Awakening - Crowbar (Recently got into them with their newest album, which prompted me to get a couple of their older ones and they are everything
I love - sludgy, New Orleans sludge-metal)
