Signs becoming more clear of a classic top-down "el presidente" coup d'etat in progress by Trump?

1) Has part of the US military already been corrupted?

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/military-convoy-trump-flag-navy-seals

quote:
A convoy of military vehicles flying a Trump flag last weekend in Kentucky belonged to a Naval Special Warfare unit, according to multiple reports.

On Sunday, the group IndivisibleKY posted video online of a string of heavily armored military vehicles -- one sporting a Trump flag -- on the I-65 highway near Louisville.

"The convoy were service members assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit driving vehicles while transiting between two training locations," Lt. Jacqui Maxwell, a spokesperson for Naval Special Warfare Group 2, told ABC News Wednesday night.

ABC News noted that Naval Special Warfare unit is the official term used for Navy SEAL units.

Maxwell told the USA Today Thursday that such a showing was unauthorized."

Yes, it was inappropriate, Maxwell told the publication. It was unauthorized.

2) Wipe out of State Dept senior staff, sidelining of the JCS on the NSC, creation of parallel offices under the control of Steve Bannon - just what the fuck is happening here?

http://www.news.com.au/world/north-america/is-the-us-in-the-middle-of-a-coup/news-story/ab0ece5c5b27b004b0b203fcce435a92

quote:
IS WHAT were witnessing in the US a slow-motion downhill slide into a coup?

A fascinating and scary article has been doing the rounds in recent days, which suggests that Donald Trumps ban on immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries was an attempt to see how far he can push his power, as the first step to mounting an all-out coup.

A Google engineer named Yonatan Zunger has suggested that the way the White House has repeatedly gone around long standing conventions shows it is testing to see whether a coup is possible.

One mans coup is another mans strong leadership. But what Zunger is talking about is Mr Trumps inner circle grabbing power in a similar way that Vladimir Putin has done in Russia, where he exercises power unchallenged by any other body.

Sure, he still has a court system and a legislative body, but they are largely irrelevant, and Mr Putin would ignore them if they ever opposed him.

Zungers point is that last weekend the White House and Department of Homeland Security happily ignored court orders related to the Muslim ban, and there was no real consequence to it.
If Mr Trumps inner circle gets good at going around the conventional processes, the result is essentially coup-like: Congress and the Supreme Court can try to oppose him all it likes, but if hes willing to just keep going around the normal processes, there is not a lot they can do.

This is normally accompanied by a Kleptocratic approach to the nations finances. Kleptocracy is rule by thieves. The argument that Zunger presents is that Mr Trumps refusal to divest himself of assets shows a proclivity to use the office to enrich himself and his family.

But coup or not, Zunger has identified some tendencies in Mr Trumps leadership style are worth exploring.

I've seen the coup rumors/conspiracy theories over on Reddit and would laugh at them if they weren't so damn plausible and scary. And since it seems there's zero anyone can do to stop Trump and his cohorts, we'd all just have to bend over and take it.

Well, it gets even funnier. They'll be coming for your bank account long before they come to napalm your town. Yes, because the bankers have proven themselves to be so trustworthy so many times before. Goodbye Dodd-Frank and fiduciary suitability laws, and probably every other Obama-era financial sector regulation too:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2017/02/03/trump-just-declared-open-season-on-suckers.html

quote:
Making it easier for banks to screw the public and financial advisors to screw their clients arent the promises that filled Trump rallies with truck-driving, g-droppin white folk from the middle of the country. But, then again, Trumps words and actions have always been divergent, and his voters have always been willing to buy Trumps man-of-the-people snake oil over facing his con-man reality.

Every time regulators have given them a chance, bankers and financial institutions have proven theyre not to be trusted to operate in the interest of the economy as a whole without sensible oversight. Why would this time be different?

The recession Wall Street triggered with their crooked mortgages in 2007 didn't just affect the US, it fucked over the whole world. And they just re-sowed the seeds so it can happen all over again. Justice would be if only people who voted for Trump lost every single penny but, in a crooked system that operates by a cascade effect, it unfortunately just doesn't work that way. Expect everyone except the authors of the disaster to get fully fucking hosed to death again.

When I was reading about the Dodd Frank stuff today I figuratively vomited. I get that Trump and his Nazi bros are going to do whatever they can to make allll the profits but how in the fuck are these morons actually still buying into this? Haven't seen merc and Williams around lately, then again, they probably won't be affected so why would they care? It's the republican way.

Well, for an impeachment, Republicans have to get on board, and the cabinet confirmations show they aren't. Aside from the usual suspects like John McCain, they're staying pretty silent.

This Michael Flynn/Russia stuff is blowing up right now. If it gains legs and leads to Trump himself, then the shit could hit the fan. I still wouldn't take the bet since the GOP would be highly unlikely to impeach one of their own. On the other hands, Americans have no love for Putin or Russia, so if opinion polls go south, well...

Think about this though....if Trump is impeached and removed from office, we'd get Mike Pence as the new POTUS. This is a guy who was probably going to lose re-election as governor in his own state now in charge of the whole country. Talk about failing upwards.

Gotta save the impeachment attempt for something so huge, important, and dangerous that even the fucking GOP can't turn their backs on it. Everything so far in the White House has been entertaining as fuck but it's still too piddly to take a shot for impeachment at. Can't waste the opportunity on something as ridiculous as what the GOP tried to do to Bill Clinton.

Give it time. Trump can't contain his true impulses. Eventually he'll be overwhelmed by his lifelong instincts to be a ratfuck little grifter with delusions of grandeur. He'll make the leap at something so criminal even the GOP has to cave in and say it's illegal. Then he can be safely gassed like a box full of cats down at the PETA all-kill animal shelter.

The most dangerous part is that it's confirmed there's basically a ideological cabal consisting of Trump/Bannon/Miller operating inside the White House that has no compunction about bypassing anyone else in intelligence and the military. Flynn was obviously part of that group and became the fall guy. There's reports that Pence was left out of the loop altogether and that he only found out that Flynn had lied to him about his connections to the Russians through reading the news. If the VP can be negated so blatantly then that means the Secretaries of State and Defense most likely have been too. The military and intelligence departments that are tasked with defending the United States, and essentially the entire western world, have basically been kneecapped by a shadow government operating inside the presidential administration.
