I'm in Japan right now. The heart of Tokyo. This shot is dope.
This is the greatest country in the world. That's my opinion, obviously, but seriously, visit this place before you die.
It's my first day.
I met cool ass people in a bar that only serves up to 9 people in a closed space. We played Mario kart in an arcade. I bought my girl some Yoshi
pajamas, and wore them around the city because they were sobbing. I wasn't judged. Japanese people are cool. I bought A 200ml Jack daniels for 5
dollars and got fine off of it while people hung out and didn't act like assholes.
This is a fantastic place. I hope it gets betters

We went to Japan for a week last year and loved it. We packed too much into the week because we didn't know if we'd ever be back, but it
was fun, educational, and rewarding.
Their transit system is amazing.
The people are organized and polite.
I love the fact that on escalators, everyone who isn't walking-while-riding is lined up on the right so everyone who wants to walk has a clear
path to the end. There are no signs telling people to do this.
Their magical toilets are magical.
Also everything in the Japan Strike thread.

I went to Tokyo with my dad and brother (aka OO's own gobbledygooker) two years ago and agree with everything said so far. Just an absolutely
great place to visit and, having wanted to go to Japan ever since I was a kid playing Nintendo in the late 1980's, it completely lived up to my
expectations. Just some random thoughts from my trip:
-Navigating Tokyo (including the subway) was much less daunting than expected. Everything was pretty English-friendly and we really didn't have
any issues finding our way around the city during our daily travels.
-Being down at the subway station during peak business "rush hour" in the morning was a sight to behold; it was like a sea of black suits converging
onto the subway trains.
-I got to visit a few arcades and there was a moment where I was playing Street Fighter IV in one of them where I just thought "I'm sitting in
an arcade in Tokyo playing Street Fighter...is this really happening?"
-The assortment of food and restaurants is of course amazing, but it was also fun to eat at places like McDonald's and Denny's just to see
the differences compared to what we're used to here in the US (I did see a guacamole and shrimp sub advertised at a Subway as well).
Okay, I could go on and on, but yeah...truly an amazing place to visit and I would go back in a heartbeat.
Also, since I know you're a gamer Cam, you HAVE to check out Super Potato. If you're not familiar with it, it's a video game store
in Akihabara that has anything and everything you could imagine. I spent over an hour in there during my visit and picked up an original in-box copy
of Final Fantasy for the Famicom.

Almost went to Tokyo for my honeymoon. Thailand ended up being a better choice for that, but Japan is huge on my bucket list.

I was born in Osaka, Japan and live in Kobe and moved to the US way back in 1979. I've been back to Japan twice since then. In 1996 with my
parents, and then with my folks and brother and sister in 2004, visiting Tokyo and the Kansai area (Kobe/Kyoto/Osaka) both times.
Tokyo is a trip. There really is no city like it. Akihabara is a must for gamers - all the displays you can play. Shinjuku and Harajuku is great
for people watching - the styles, culture, clothing is very unique. People are ridiculously polite. The temples are amazing. The food is
spectacular. Porn in every facet of their culture is weird as fuck - from old-ass salarymen reading cartoon porn openly in subway trains, to
school-girl bondage being a thing, to them being displayed at the bookstore at knee-high level. Tex is correct about the toilets. They have electric
bidets in public bathrooms. It's amazing. The public transportation is top notch. Even though Tokyo is super overcrowded, people don't
just randomly bump in to you like they do here in the states.
Also, if you ever get a chance to go back to Japan, go down to Kansai, It's quite different than the overcrowded hustle and bustle of Tokyo.
And it's gorgeous down there. Nara is filled with temples and deer that you can hang out with, feed, and pet. Also, taking the Shinkansen
(bullet train) from Tokyo to Kyoto/Kobe is pretty awesome, and will make you think, "why the FUCK don't we have this in the US?"
My cousin recently went and drove around the streets of Tokyo in real-life Mario Karts. I gotta go try that next time I'm there.
In short, I love Japan. It's pretty awesome.

As Goon mentioned, myself, him, and our dad visited a couple of years ago. We now have a running "joke" (I say "joke" in a "Man, it would be
awesome if we could pull this off" sorta way) that we're all going to go back for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. I've had a baby in the
interim which may negate any of my travel plans for the next 18 years.

My time there was fantastic. I only had 4 days to really enjoy it, but it was a blast.
Highlights:
-Your first time sitting on a heated toilet.
-I found the Yasukuni Jinja by accident and spent a 3 hour detour in the garden and museum en route to Akihabara the morning after I woke up after my
OP. Lovely and one of the most beautiful gardens I've ever seen. This is the most important and controversial Shinto Shrine in Japan. I found
it BY ACCIDENT.
-Inside the museum, I took a dump and didn't even think about wiping off the toilet seat with a wet wipe or anything. I simply took a dump,
used the asshole rinser for the first time (testing out ALL levels of power), and marveled at how clean everything is. Cleanest fucking place in the
world.
-Suzubar in the Golden Gai in Shinjuku is the best 7-seat bar in the world. The bartender/owner, Dido, is the most professional bartender I have ever
seen. He is the kind of guy who would be a bartender who gets like 30 seconds of screen time in a James Bond movie. I drank like a king.
Lagavulin.
-Mister Donuts' croissant donuts are quite possibly the greatest pastry/donut/confectionary I have ever tried. I went to that place ever
morning and raved about it every chance I got.
-Akihabara was really fun, tourist-friendly, and the foreigners over there are just a different breed compared to the losers that have migrated to
China over the years. I had a blast checking out all the manga/hentai shops, perusing the gift shops, and checking out the hardcore retro game
stores that sell Saturn versions of Castlevania: SOTN for 117 dollars, or fucking Turtles in Time for the SNES for like 300. I picked up a lot of
figurines for DBZ, Mario, Pokemon, and even got a sonic figure out of a Sonic The Hedgehog Bath Ball.
-Despite going into over 25-30 game shops, Nintendo Switch is sold out everywhere. Or, if you want, you can get charged nearly double the price for
one by some asshole in a small gaming shop in a back alley street. I was warned about him beforehand, though, but really, fuck that guy.
-My hotel, the Shinjuku Granbell, was a in a great location. I was 1.3 km from Shinjuku Station, and had nearly everything within 5-7 minutes walking
distance (including the New Japan show on May 9th). If you know the area, you know how awesome it is walking 3 minutes west into that area with the
SEGA arcades, Yakitori pubs, and gift shops all over the place. I loved that place.
-The area around Shinjuku Station is ripe with style and I enjoyed my first experience playing pachinko. It was crazy seeing the people and how good
they were at it, racking up baskets upon baskets of little metal balls. I was blown away.
-The subway station is amazingly efficient. At first, I was intimidated to use it, but now? Sign me up every time.
-You can get good food at any time of the night in Tokyo. It's outstanding.
-Service in Japan feels special and unique. Japanese girls are the cutest.
-Japanese love gummi's and I don't blame them. Their gummi candy is the absolute best and I could eat those Meijo candies every day
forever. Just delicious.
-New Japan rocked.
-I got a massage every day, and it felt great. My massage therapist lady even took me out Tuesday and Wednesday evening, helping me to find my bus
and all that stuff.
-Toy stores are awesome. Really nostalgic. Japan loves everyone.
-The difference in the way people interact with each other compared to Chinese people is absolutely insane. It's not even a discussion - I
truly empathize with Japanese when having to deal with Chinese tourists' bullshit. They are so loving and caring for each other that it melts
your heart.
Basically, Japan is the best country in the world.

Last weekend, a friend and I were talking about our respective trips to Japan, and one thing we both did when we went was go to the Studio Ghibli
Museum and go on about how awesome that place was. If you ever go back to Japan, make sure that is on your to-do list.
