OOfficial Ratings/Discussion Thread for: ECW (November 3, 2009)
OO Nation: All discussion pertaining to ECW (airing November 3, 2009) should be done in this thread. It will remain pinned at the top of the
Current Events section for the remainder of the week. In discussing the program, we'd love it if you shared your numerical rating for
the show (from a low of 0.0 to a high of 5.0, in any increment of one-tenth of a point). For full details on the ratings scale and how to join in on
this informal "Battle of the Brands," please be sure to check out the OOfficial
Guidelines for TV Ratings/Discussion Threads.
Tonight on ECW: Its that time of week where WWE gives you one hour of simple and logical straightforward wrestling that has next to no real
bearing on the WWE product as a whole. Last week Yoshi Tatsu got an ECW Championship match but Christian retained to remain the king of his little
castle. This week the two men will tag up to face off with William Regal's henchmen Ezekiel Jackson and Vlaidimir Kozlov, who stuck their noses
in the match last week. Also last week Paul Burchill shockingly challenged The Hurricane. Or at least challenged Gregory Helms to challenge The
Hurricane. Either way we should expect another installment of this feud and perhaps Burchill has something in store for the Hurricane this week
beyond "wrestle him and never bother to try and remove the mask." Beyond those announced matches there's no #1 contender at play and
ECW's been real good about filling that gap in logical ways that have to do with wrestling, so I'd expect Tiffany to say something on
Christian's next challenger and for Regal to be all annoyed that he's not it. And, with Sheamus gone and Tyler Reks a flop relegated to
Superstars jobber duty ECW could use another installment of its Talent Initiative right about now and there ARE a pair of super talented indie stars
who have either just been signed by WWE or just returned from long injuries. So dare we start dreaming?
The flOOr is yours, OO Nation. Let your voice be heard and your thoughts on Brand Supremacy be known. Don't wait till after 11pm to post,
either. Pre-show previewing and prognosticating is certainly welcome. So discuss, debate, and rate!

OOfficial Ratings/Discussion Thread for: ECW (November 3, 2009)
EDIT: OMG, Simultaneous Thread Startery! Lucky and I posted at pretty much the exact same time. My preview paragraph read as follows:
Tonight on ECW: continuing the trend of "parity" at the top of ECW, Champion Christian will team with his most recent #1 Contender, Yoshi
Tatsu, to face the Bad Mo-Fos, Vlad Kozlov and Zeke Jackson, in a contest that probably serves MOSTLY to keep William Regal still in the mix as a top
challenger to Christian (even as Christian spends his time on mini-feuds like the ones with Yoshi and Ryder).... in addition to that main event, we
will get another one-on-one match in the Hurricane vs. Paul Burchill feud; on one hand, it's a feud that just won't die; but on the other,
man alive when Katie Lea isn't going overboard with the stupid goth fetishy make-up, she's, like, the hottest chick in WWE these days so
that's something.... they got away with only 2 matches last week, so maybe that's it for this week? We'll see....
Lucky's paragraph was better, and it was also beat mine by 30 whole seconds, but feel free to use either or both (or neither, you
non-ECW-watching philistines!) as your jumping off point for discussion....

OK, the stuff with Ryder daydreaming about Rosa was really gay but otherwise that was a really entertaining show.
Oh, and Lance Hoyt is off to a great start to the Test 2.0 thing he seems to be shooting for.

Another solid effort by ECW. Nice little opening with Christian and Regal. I love it when the heels feel that the city that they are in, is not
worthy of seeing them in a championship match. Now that they have agreed to have the match in England, could Regal actually take the belt?
William Regal vs Goldust- Nice physical match, that was dominated by Goldust for the most part. But of course, one Knee Trembler later and Regal is
your winner.
The Rosa Mendes/Zack Ryder stuff was so ridiculous, that I couldn't help but love it. To say that Ryder was smitten, is an understatement.
When all else fails, make sure you squeeze the bottle. As for the match, it was decent enough. I have to say that that was one of the best
Paydirt's Shelton has ever hit.
It looks like we are finally going to get a resolution to the Hurricane/Burchill feud. It's for all the marbles: If Paul wins, Hurricane will
unmask. If Hurricane wins, Paul and Katie Lea will leave ECW. Hurricane did have the line of the night: "chicks dig super-hero types".
I had to do a double take to realize that Vance Archer was Lance Hoyt. I'm willing to give the guy a chance and see how his character
develops.
Christian and Yoshi Tatsu vs Vladimir Kozlov and Ezekiel Jackson- Main event was ok. Again it's really hard to drag anything decent out of
those two stiffs. But Christian and Yoshi gave it their best effort. The only thing in question was who would score the win and when Regal would
crash the party. Considering that Regal and his Ruthless Roundtable have left Christian unconscious, two weeks in a row. It may put some doubt in
Regal actually winning the belt in his homeland.
Final Score: 3.25

I had no freakin' clue that Vance Archer was Lance Hoyt. I guess the lower back tattoos that he was obviously trying to hide should've
given it away. Interesting.
And man, that was the most jobber-ific I've ever seen Koslov look in closing out that match! Christian basically made him his bitch, gave him
the Unprettier, and that was that.

Me neither. Good thing his tramp stamp is unhideable. But why did they debut him with such a crappy finisher (which used to be Kozlov's crappy
finisher)? I'm guessing moonsault doesn't fit his character (or WWE's nice "big guy" box), but he can pull off better moves than a
reverse DDT. And why set up the ddt with a fake bodyslam? How does that make the move any better?
Not sure why Tiffany couldn't just force Regal into a non-title match, but I hope Regal loses next week. Unfortunately, banning Zeklov from
ringside seems like the perfect opportunity to debut a new henchmen (like 1 of those 2 indie guys) to give Regal the title.

I dunno, the reverse DDT is a lame finisher in theory but I thought in execution it looked pretty brutal. Maybe its just the way the guy sold it, I
dunno, but I was thinking "damn, (L)Vance Hoyt-Archer just made a reverse DDT look like a devastating finisher". But honestly its probably just a
placeholder finisher until somebody comes up with something better for him.

Vance Archer also makes me wonder what kind of crappy name they'll give to Brian Danielson.
Hopefully, "Max Powers," the man with the name you want to touch, but you mustn't touch.

I'm thinking Danielson is going to come into the company with considerably more clout than Archer, so maybe he'll be allowed to
keep his name. Its WWE so probably not, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Well, christian does his reverse DDT in which he falls on his stomach. And then, of course, is Sting's Scorpion Death Drop. Didn't Tommy
Dreamer sometimes use the same reverse DDT move Archer used? And he should have worn a Kevin Nash like ring gear to hide the tramp stamp because
should he ever appear on RAW, you can bet that HHH will point that out to everyone.
Rosa's a pretty girl. That Paydirt looked awesome. But since Shelton hasn't expressed any interest in Rosa, it's not quite like
Miz/Swagger/Eve. Hpoefully they'll avoid that route.
100 percent in agreement with The Rick in Katie Lea's hotness. The blowoff match to this Hurricane feud, finally. Looks like Burchill and
Katie are RAW or SD bound, because the kids love the Hurricane, so he ain't losing. And is it me or do I get an early "It's Our Time"
HHH/Chyna kinda vibe from Burchill/Katie Lea? All he needs is bottled water.

Did anyone notice in the ME when the new announcer repeated himself verbatim ("I think Yoshi, maybe perhaps, is worn out from last week")? I think
they actually looped his commentary at some point.

I was wondering about that, but I chalked it up to me being crazy and repeating things in my
own mind.

Catching ECW on Hulu.
Tiffany's basically capable and well spoken, she manages her roster logically and without bias, and her title could arguably be considered the
most legitimate in the company by virtue of its booking if not for the fact that it can't get on PPV and its treated like a consolation prize.
Sure, she can't make a fair trade but otherwise, she might be the best booked woman in WWE in God knows how long. So is anyone else amused that
WWE sort of backed into creating a strong female character and then gave her an overtly sexual entrance theme that doesn't fit the character in
the slightest and is about needing a man to meet her insatiable needs?
The Ryder/Rosa stuff was absolutely terrible.
I have no idea how he accomplished it but Hoyt actually managed to make himself look like MORE of a douchebag by cutting his hair and shaving. I
can't wait for people to get excited for Vance Archer doing half the moves of a boring Lance Hoyt.
I don't know. I didn't like that episode at ALL. One of the few cases of ECW having absolutely NOTHING I consider worth watching. The
matches weren't terrible, the promos weren't terrible. But nothing was remotely good or interesting either. When the most interesting
things I'm left with after a show are evaluating the ring announcer's performance, critiquing Tiffany's entrance music, and
examining Lance Hoyt's appearance what is the proper rating?

For what its worth I agree with you 150% on Tiffany. She plays her character very nicely and the character has really come into her own. She's
interesting and consistent and is a genuine benefit to the program. So I'm fully expecting her to turn heel within the next 3 months and help
somebody screw Christian out of the title.

Absolutely, I keep meaning to post about that. I'm also happy that they've never pulled the trigger they've seemed to be setting her
up to sleep with a wrestler, like Ortiz or Swagger. (or maybe there was nothing there and I just expect it after watching wrestling for so long)

That was the first time I've ever heard Tiffany's theme song and wow, really? There are some females that play the sort of character that
song makes me thing of and it would be over the top for them
As a Hoyta-maniac, I'll just skip his matches for the next, oh, three months (that's about how long the next big monster/big guy gets to
have squash matches, right) and judge him on a real match later.
Something simple things make me mark so hard and Regal nailing Golddust with the knee trembler and immediately falling into a pin is one of those
things.
Just when I start to maybe understand Ryder fans, they pull this dreamy "Warrior in the Mirror/Voices only Kane can hear" bullshit with him. That
and you should never make goggly eyes at a chick until after you've put your opponent away.
Rosa straddles the line for me. I guess she can be hot, but I never can get into the "hot because they say so" and she seems to embody that.
It's like how Gail or Molly or Victoria or Taylor or Sarita just go out there and do there thing and you know they're hot because they
are. Not because they're using all their precious mic time to remind us, yes, "I'm hot and you all want me"
A ho fucks everybody. A bitch fucks everybody but you.
