For some reason I couldn't get CivRev to download for me...also, no Stick of Truth for me either--that one I read was region locked due to
censorship reasons, I'd take and likely prefer the censored one if it were available, but so far no go, but that's neither here nor
there--the free game now is Dungeon Defenders which downloaded no problem...but once I listened to the "quick tutorial" I decided I wouldn't
be playing. It gave me too much of a headache. Me not too smart.

Apparently Hitman: Absolution is the first of April's free games. I've never played it, but what the hell, if it's free.

Hitman is awesome as fuck. I love the series, and can't recommend that game enough, especially since it's free. The thing I like the
most about it, is that you can play the same mission multiple times, and assassinate your targets different each time.

Is it just me or are all the free games that are shooters, third-person shooters? I have noticed this because I prefer first person shooters...

To be fair, I wouldn't call Hitman a "shooter" at all. Sure, you can pop someone in the head with a pistol, but there's a ton of
stealth and strategy involved. It's not like Gears where you're running and gunning the whole time.
The last two shooters they offered were Gears and Rainbow Six Vegas, and RSV is first person. I think those were the last two, at least.
Wasn't Halo 3 free at some point recently? That's FPS as well.

RSV is? I thought I had played that and like the splinter cell games it was third person... but I am old so I may have misremembered

The Rainbow Six games are FPS, yeah. Maybe the Tom Clancy series you're thinking of is Ghost Recon, which, like Splinter Cell, is third person.

To be fair, RSV you probably would have missed because of its being a first-gen 360 game.
Also, I was playing around with some prices in my head today and I'm happy to say that, after downloading Hitman, my Golf membership has broke
even. Between Sleeping Dogs going for $20 new and both Civilization and Hitman retailing for $15 a piece new, I've totaled the $50 I paid for
my membership. Lack of DLC discounts be damned, Microsoft has done well. And had I downloaded Gears (I found my brother's copy in a closet),
it would have had more value than the $50.
So, of course, I will be searching for a cheaper rate in October.

Deadlight for the second half of April. Very fun so far. I noticed that some deals on demand are excellent, but others make no sense. There are a
couple of games I would like to play from very early on in the 360 lifespan, 'Deadly Premonition' for instance, but they're still
like $24.99 or so. I can understand how a copy of a physical game that might not be very good (DP has terrible reviews), but IS rare could hold a
certain amount of value because people like me would like to play it. On demand games should be cheap--and can't be rare--because they want more
people to play them. Anyhow, I really like getting the freebies every month, but my memory space is taking a beating.

May's games have been announced:
Tomorrow through May 15th will be a game called "Dust". I've heard about the game in passing, but never really dug too much into it.
Apparently, it's a well-respected XBLA RPG, so it looks like it is at least worth the download.
May 16th to the end of the month will be Saint's Row 3. This one I'm slightly interested in, because I beat 1 & 2 when both were newer
titles, but I never bothered with 3 because I didn't like Saint's Row enough to pay $60 for a title (got the first used....my first used
360 game, in fact, and the second was a Black Friday pickup), and for whatever reason they never seemed to put it on sale for its first year. But
free is a good price, so it looks like I'll be doubling down.
Also, Saint's Row 3 retails at $20, and Dust is still going for $10 on XBLA. My Gold membership will have established a very nice profit of $20
once this next month is over.

Downloaded 'Dust' and it's great so far. A perfect game for games with gold..just like Deadlight, which I finished last weekend,
it's something that I would never think to buy even at $10. To get it for free exposes a lot more people to the game and would possibly make
them want to buy any potential sequels.

We're not done with May yet, obviously, but X-Box has announced all five of it's June games (yes, five).
For starters, X-Box One is joining Games with Gold (though you have to be a Gold member to play the games, unlike 360, which seems fair). The first
two games seem pretty "meh", but considering there's not really a lot of next-gen games out there, they'll do. The two games are Max:
Curse of the Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault. Neither game has been reviewed particularly well, but free is free, so I'll download them
solely so I can double the amount of X-Box One games I have.
360 gets three games since next month will be their One Year Anniversary. The two games offered early are Dark Souls (probably will give a shot) and
Charlie Murder, an Arcade game released towards the end of last year that seems like one of those indy darlings. The bonus title is Super Street
Fight 4, which people may or may not already have, but it's Street Fighter, so you already know what you'll be getting.

Super Street Fighter 4 is a good one, but it's an oldie...I can hold out hope that it is at least the newest version. I'll download it
anyways as a backup in case my copy gets scratched. I haven't got the other two, so maybe they'll be pretty good. The downside of games
with gold, aside from the memory space, is trying to decide what to spend money on and what to hold off on in case it comes up as a freebie...
I'm the last one to post so I only need edit to say...those sons of b---did it to me again it seems Darksouls is a region locked game that
won' t play in my region--that makes two freebies/paid for with gold subscription alreadies that I've missed out on so far. Not too angry
about it but that was one of the ones I really wanted to play.

July's games are up. If you've got an X-Box One like me, you get Guacamelee, an Arcade game that is worth downloading only because there
aren't really a lot of X-Box One games and it is free. Other than that, the two from last month are still offered.
On the 360 side, game one for the first half of the month is Arkham Impostors, a Batman-themed arcade shooter, which seems a bit dumb but is somewhat
positively reviewed. The second half game will be the 360 version of Guacamelee.
Seems like they're just going to go with the arcade grind until next month. It's also a bit weird to think this whole topic is getting
close to a year old.

August's list is up, and it's a bit underwhelming for the most part.
X-Box One gets two games: Crimson Dragon and Strike Suite Zero. Neither are particularly well reviewed, but free is free. If flight shooters are a
favorite of yours (and you have an X-Box One), they're worth picking up.
360 users get a Motocross game for the first half of the month, but the second half of the month nets them Dishonored. Seemed like a solid enough
game when it first came out, but the mixed reviews and lack of advertisement made me quickly forget about it until just now.
So one game worth picking up if you don't already have it, two free X-Box One games that aren't well reviewed, and, ugh, Motocross.

I've let my subscription lapse. I go month to month..I need to only sign up when good free games are announced and then cancel out again once
the month is up. I'm on a no playing streak right now that's gone on for longer than a month...and I don't really have the desire to
play. However, I have been playing a lot of RPGs on roll20, so I'm not afraid that I'm growing up quite yet.

The Motocross game is a cute painless racing game that will entertain my nephew when he comes over. Dishonored I also never heard of, I asked my son
and he said it was a game he wanted to play, so I gave it a try and first thing I noticed is it is same company as Fallout, and it plays a lot like
Fallout (My wife half watching and listening even commented that it reminded her of it.). I like it, it is definitely my type of game that requires
you to take your time if you are like me and want to make sure you don't miss anything, plus all the side quests with multiple solutions.

Well, shit, September is next week. Here's the Games with Gold:
X-Box One gets Super TIME Force. It's a 2D platformer that is moderately well reviewed. and for the price of free worth looking at.
X-Box 360 gets Monaco for the first half and Halo: Reach for the second. Monaco is an indy game that is also well-reviewed and, again, price of free
necessitates a look. And Halo is Halo: you know what you're getting and probably already had it.

Monaco got good reviews as a co-op, and I want to pick some brains as I am looking for a good co-op that I can play with my wife. She doesn't
like FPS, the last game we played and finished was the Gauntlet series, to give you an idea on what I am looking for.
Any suggestions?

Portal 2 is a good one. But if you're looking for a cheap buy, the Arcade has the Simpsons, X-Men, and at least one Ninja Turtle arcade games
available. Those are more time wasters than anything else, but they're also built to play with other people.
