Wrestlemania Rewind today after Main Event showcased the two MITB matches that CM Punk won at WM 24 and 25. It's been since then that
I've watched them. Damn, those were awesome. 25 especially. Kofi, Shelton, and Christian had some pretty amazing spots that match. And MVP
taking Matt Hardy's Twist of Fate from the top of the ladder in WM 24 was pretty wicked too.

Watched In Your House: Good Friends, Better Enemies last night and goddamn I forgot how great that Shawn/Diesel No Holds Barred main event was!
Possibly Diesel's best match ever. And he did have some great ones in that timeframe. Which begs the question - What the hell happened to him
once he got to WCW?!

You know, I was wondering if there's some truth to that (not the unicorn blood) but whether that fact that he and Razor busted their asses so
much between, say, '94 ('95 for Diesel) to when they left that their tanks were empty by the time they got to WCW. I think there is a
good likelihood there, especially given that neither was exactly a spring chicken by the time they were doing ladder matches (for Razor) and other
long, intense matches.

True. And I'm also pretty sure that the culture there at the time made it quite easy for them to be lazy. "You guys are the saviors of the
company! Just go out there and give them 10 minutes of rest holds and you're good to go!"

I always felt that the WCW rings were smaller and the matches went at a far slower pace than in the WWF.

Other than the cruisers, of course!
But yes, in particular many of the Hall and Nash matches. I think someone in the Tag Team Showdown mentioned they couldn't recall a single good
Hall and Nash match in WCW and I'm inclined to agree.
EDIT - I guess Nash-Goldberg was as close to a "good" match as Nash had there but that was more due to the crowd and "big match" atmosphere than
anything else, a la Rock-Hogan.

For Diesel in WCW, I think it was case of getting lazy & lack of workrate culture. I do not mean to imply that there was no workrate in WCW but it
seemed to be fewer wrestlers took pride and cared about having fantastic matches.
Diesel admitted as much that one of the the pros for him joining WCW was being able to take it a bit easier as their were older wrestlers there and so
the workrate was less. Plus, he did not have his crew to compete with or motivate him. No Shawn, no Hunter, and for the most part no Pac.
As for Razor, I still recall him bringing his work boots. But I always took it that Razor's demons got the best of him and affected his in ring
work. I wish Razor never left. I would like to think Vince would have taken better care of him and we still would have had great matches from Razor.
Razor was an awesome worker when his head was clear.

Anybody else loving the HELL out of the Monday Night Wars series? Watched the DX/Attitude era one and the brand new Bret Hart one over the past
couple of days. Those are worth the $9.99 alone. I love how they have brand new interview footage to go along with all the classic footage and they
really get pretty deep for a WWE-produced show.

I saw the DX/Attitude Era one the other night. Great stuff. Them talking about the DX Army invading WCW was really fascinating. It's amazing
how much of this was off the cuff and them just going with their gut and trusting their instincts.
If you enjoyed that, you should really listen to Talk Is Jericho's two latest episodes with Triple H.

Looks like they've run out of material for the Monday Night Wars (for now at least; they definitely hit the most integral shit between
Bret/Montreal, Stone Cold, ECW, DX, nWo, and Cruisers) but this new Rivalry series looks hella fun.

Prime Time Wrestling has been added! Holy shit, that will bring back some memories. That was basically the original introduction to wrestling for my
brother and me. Right now they've only got 1986 up (we got into it more in the '87- 89 timeframe) but that is a straight-up who's
who of mid-to-late 80's WWF. And you get the always-awesome banter between Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon, of course. I started watching the
very first episode last night and was treated to such bizarre sights as a super-young Danny Spivey and Corporal Kirschner taking on Volkoff/Sheik and
a young (and noticeably chubbier than he'd later become) Bret Hart (in blue tights) vs. "Jumping" Jim Brunzell.

Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely want to check out Prime Time. Of course, The Brain & Gorilla had the best chemistry! Check out Raven &
Gorilla. The most underrated duo ever!
I hope they put up Tuesday Night Titans soon. I have only seen bits and pieces but it was some fun & wacky material. Fuji Vice, Vince square dancing,
The Funker & Vince in a saloon, and all the Tonight Show type interviews.

1995 Royal Rumble World Title Match - Diesel vs. Bret Hart. A great match, especially considering there's no finish. Possibly Nash's first
great match. Hart writes about this one a bit in his book, and talks about being overly aggressive and not bumping like crazy in an effort to keep the
crowd from turning against Diesel (and rallying behind the little guy getting his ass kicked but not giving up). Reminded me a bit of how Bryan and
Reigns worked their match at Fastlane.
Also, I remember 1995 as being a bad year for WWF, but watching the PPVs has given me a new appreciation for it. Specifically, what appears to be a
one upmanship battle between Hart and Michaels as the company's best performers. At most shows, one of them is delivering a killer performance
that's resulting in either a great match or a match that's better than it has any right to be. Observe:
Rumble - Hart/Diesel.
WM 11 - While not a great match, HBK steals the show with his performance in the world title match.
IYH May - Hart/Hakushi is a great little match.
KOTR 1995 - the less said about this show, the better.
IYH July - HBK and Double J have a great match.
Summerslam - HBK/Razor Ladder Match 2.
IYH September - Hart/Jean-Pierre Lafitte have a pretty kick-ass match.
Survivor Series - Hart/Diesel have their rematch which is all sorts of awesome.
IYH December - Hart/Bulldog have another classic. I always thought this one was underrated.
It's unfortunate that almost everything else on these shows not involving either of them was terrible. But still pretty cool to see two of the
all-time greats in their prime putting on performances like these every month.

Just thought I'd bump this thread back up because I watched the Rock/Triple H Iron Man match from Judgment Day 2000 last night (was the first
time I'd watched it since it originally aired 15 years ago) and thoroughly enjoyed it just as much as I did back then. It's really the
anti-Bret/Shawn Iron Man match, not in terms of quality, but in terms of how many falls there are. Hell, Rock pins Triple H ten minutes in with a Rock
Bottom and then Triple H goes on to score three straight falls.
I also love the psychology involved, where you have instances of each guy getting pinned as a result of non-finishing moves (Triple H gets pinned
after a DDT, Rock gets pinned after a piledriver) due to them presumably being so worn out from the length of the match. You also have Rock losing a
fall due to his arm dropping three times while Triple H has him in a sleeper hold, which is something you hardly ever see in a match, let alone
a world title one.
The only minor negative of the match is the sports entertainment schmozz finish with DX and the McMahons getting involved, and eventually the return
of the Undertaker (debuting his American Badass gimmick here), but otherwise I give it a high recommendation.

Being a kid with crap taste I guess, I did not see why 95 was so bad at the time. Except for when Mabel won the KOTR. I wanted Savio to win. I was
happy to see people pelt Mabel with rubbish. Although, I am sure Vince misinterpreted that to being akin to roses being thrown on stage at an
opera.
But you are stone cold right when you talk about how Bret & Shawn were just tearing it down every chance they got. I miss Bret and wish he did not get
relegated to the mid-card for the overly long Diesel title run. But you know what arouses Vince!

I need to see this sunset flip grope. Maybe it was Gorilla's sly way of dropping in Patterson references much like JR used to do. "Patterson
does rear end work at Brisco's Body Shop."
I liked Gorilla a lot. Gorilla and Brain were magnificent. Probably my all time favorite duo. Gorilla and Raven (Johnny Polo) were dynamite as well,
very underrated. Gorilla made some really interesting calls. I like to use his line for being sneak attacked from behind. "Oh, X Pearl Harbored Z!"
So not PC! Although, I hated when Gorilla ragged on Bull Nakano. Gorilla was cruel. Gorilla called Nakano a whale or beached whale.

I talked about this in a pre-Ramble a few weeks ago, but if you checked out Renee Young's show when it started, and thought it sucked,
you're right. But it's way better now (probably because she's talking to Owens and Balor and Summer, and not Orton).
But I'm checking in on this thread to specifically address "The WWE List." It serves no real purpose. "WWE Countdown" already exists.
"Parallel" would be the charitable label, and "superfluous" would be realistic. That said, I just put "WWE List" on in the background as I
watched tonight's SD, and it has some things going for it.
Primarily, Noelle Foley.
Not pervy, not awkward, just: I'm pretty sure Noelle Foley is going to matter to wrestling fans before all is said and done. If she wants to get
trained and do some in-ring stuff, fine, but mostly, I think it's very realistic to expect to feel -- in about 8-10 years -- about Mick
Foley's Baby Girl the same way we feel about Renee Young today.
Which is to say, "perpetually delighted."
She's all over that "WWE list" show, and has a bunch of pretty on-point observations that suggest she isn't just a fan of her
dad's... she's gone back and watched the whole product and sort of gets it. But WWE did this weird thing where they left Mick off the list
of "character transformations," but put his at the top of the list of "foxiest features"....
And I think they did it only because Noelle no-sold her dad's multi-gimmicks ("Yeah, didn't he already get first place on WWE Countdown
for this?"), but after a few WWE women talked about enjoying the scruff (Renee Young, again!), Noelle just casually says, "I dunno, but scars are
pretty foxy, I guess. I mean, I know my mom thought my dad's scars were interesting, and my mom is a total MILF." PUNCHLINE, bitches!
I'll now pause and give you a moment to wash your brain, in case you decided to take that to a filthy place, you sleazebags. Suffice to say that
MY point is that Noelle could bring a lot of convincing expertise and overall likeability to an interviewer or commentator role (I hold back on
in-ring prospects, just because it would damage my soul to see her ass kicked/exploded/thumb-tacked, and I don't know if wrestling fans would
accept a Foley who just tried to be good at mat wrestling; although, Noelle doing Mick's "I refuse to be hardcore for you sickos" ECW gimmick
might be good for a few yucks).
Also, the "foxiest features" episode only features Stacey Keibler, and four dudes, so you're forewarned....
And I was pretty happy to see Katie Linendoll included on the show, too. WWE is clearly reaching out to C-list "celebrities" to make "WWE List"
different from "WWE Countdown," but seeing her was a surprise. She's an ESPN personality who will almost certainly scratch you where you itch
if you're an AJ Lee fan. But unlike most of the other "celebrity" commentators, I didn't know she was a fan (on the flip side, Ron
Funches gets the "duh" prize for Most Obvious Commentator; special shout-out to OO's Secret Representative The Masked Man, too).
FWIW, the "25 Years of Undertaker" has been mostly lame. But you should also check out the JBL Legends that they just put up.... it's Austin,
Micheals, and HHH all telling Undertaker stories, and it's quite fun.

Linendoll serves as the eye candy for a fair amount of the Sam Roberts wrestling podcasts and interviews - she's got a pretty good knowledge
base about most of the wrestlers/wrestling history that comes up. Of course, being tiny and adorable never really hurt anyone working in the media
either, so there's that too ...

I recently watched back Wrestlemania 29 & had 2 thoughts:
1) Punk v. Taker was good...like really good, but it seems kinda lost in the shuffle of the Taker matches that surrounded it. That and WWE pretending
like Punk didn't exist. Taker looked to be in great shape & even teased the over the top rope dive at one point & I legit thought he was going
to do it. I remembered from Punk's podcast with Cabana how he talked about wrestling that match with the biggest chip on his shoulder & now
re-watching later that totally makes sense because he was great from the second the stepped on the stage to when he ultimately takes the loss. Aside
from the announce table not giving when Punk dropped the elbow from the top rope it was a really flawless match with great near-falls. I even loved
the little things like how they protected the GTS because Punk was never able to hit it on Taker. Lastly, this was the one where Living Color played
Cult of Personality live, which I had completely forgotten about, and that was fucking awesome. Then Taker has maybe his best entrance ever as well
with him rising up & all you see are hands reaching up towards him from below the stage. Unbelievable visual & the whole presentation was tremendous.
2) The original Ms. Fandango....

With the addition of a nice chunk of JCP WCW Saturday night shows, I found something that is less "Fun" and more "God Awful Booking"
Magnum TA vs. Tully Blanchard I Quit in a Cage for the NWA US Title.
Now, The rivalry between the two is dynamite. The match is fantastic. Thanks the the WWEN, I have re-watched it a number of times lately and it still
works. But the lead up to it on this show was terrible.
Tully wins US title. Beats Magnum (with not yet named FOur Horsemen help) and announces thats it, its back to the end of the line for Magnum. Typical
cocky heel schtick, which Tully was great at.
Magnum,, the unrelenting face, challenges for One. More. Match. And asks for the special stip.
All of this works just fine. Here is where it gets stupid.
They bother to shoot a little announcement with NWA President Bob Geigel where he DENIES the request. They show the clip. Tully gloats.
Later that episode, out comes Jim Crockett Jr, who is acknowledged as the promoter. He says the NWA has a rule where the promoter CAN OVERRIDE THE NWA
PRESIDENT if it it determined to be best for business. (Too bad he didn't say that word for word) Tully is outraged, Dillon is furious, and
Crockett walks away.
I get drama of overriding the decision, but seriously, the SAME EPISODE? And it was not the one right before Starrcade, as there were a couple weeks
left and Dillon used that time to rant some more. Further, why bother filming the announcement from Geigel? Just a simple "Letter from the NWA" that
JJ could read would have the same effect. In all honesty, It should have been Crocket denying it and GEIGEL overriding, as that would make more sense.
I mean, the President SHOULD override a bad Promoter's decision, why bother having an NWA President if any promoter can just override whatever
he decrees with a Best for Business line? Sure, fans back then wouldn't over-analyse like I am, but it looks bad bad BAD in hindsight. Ideas
like this are why Vince won and Crockett had to sell to Turner. Had he kept the cranial rectal inversion to a minimum, we'd all be enjoying NWA
Championship Wrestling a couple times a week.

Yup, Over the Edge 1999. I'd think they'd remove any mentions of it from the replay.
