Faith No More's new album, Sol Invictus
Not sure how many posts this will get, since the music forum doesn't see a ton of activity these days, but I know there are a handful of Faith
No More fans around here, so why not?
Just curious if anyone else has picked this up yet. I've had the album since it was released and have been thoroughly enjoying it (it should be
noted that Faith No More is my favorite band of all time). What's interesting is that I've seen some comments around the Internet that Sol
Invictus is an album that takes a few listens to fully digest and get into, and I completely agree. I think it took me maybe three or four listens to
finally conclude that yeah, this album is really fucking good. And it's too early for me to say where I'd rank it amongst Faith No
More's previous albums (since those have been out for decades and this has been out for a week), but I will say that musically and creatively
it's on the same level as their past work.

Don't have it. Have been too lazy to seek out reviews on it. Seeing them at a music festival here Labor Day Weekend (Social Distortion also
playing = my main reason for going).
I'll be curious to see what others say if anything. Methinks Mr. "My Favorite Band of All Time" might have some bias to his review

Ha, well given that I have enjoyed about 99.5% of the music they've put out over the years, my view may be a little skewed. But I really do
think the new album is quality stuff and if I did find it to be bad or lackluster, I certainly wouldn't hesitate to say so (actually, if I found
the new album to be a letdown, I probably would've been too disappointed to have posted this thread in the first place).
And I will be catching them live soon as well, on July 31st in Raleigh. If you had told me ten years ago that in the year 2015 I would have tickets to
see Faith No More in concert, my brain would have exploded.

I saw them when they came to Seattle a few weeks ago on their tour (it was the 2nd night of the tour). They were awesome. At that point I'd
only heard "Motherfucker" and "Superhero" and liked both of those songs. They played 2 or 3 new songs, all of which I liked. I picked up Sol
Invictus when it came out and yes, it's really good. I also agree that it gets better on repeat listens. It's on par with all of their
other albums (which are all 4-5 star albums in my book), and they sound like the same band they did when Album of the Year came out, but still manage
to sound fresh and new.

Kickspit Under Underground Festival. FNM's opening acts are Sneaky Priest and Mrs. Potato Dick.

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know,
that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but

I 100% agree with and endorse this statement.

I get the reference! But will they be joined by The Black Wiggers? Or Butt Wand?
Oh great, now I'm helping to derail my own Faith No More thread.

I hear that MC George Castanza is going to be the announcer for the show, provided he survives the methed-out coyotes running around up in this
bitch.
(that was seriously one of the funniest bits that SNL did in the last 20 years)

Oh Mr. Bungle, can't you let these boys have their nice FNM thread without gumming it up with your foolishness?

Just heard it, and it's REALLY fucking good. Definitely better than Album of the Year and probably better than King for a Day. It's no
Angel Dust, but it's certainly not just some run-of-the-mill reunion album.
Also, they're coming to Red Rocks with Gogol Bordello. Needless to say, I will kill to be there.

The guy on the stretcher at the end is the most hilarious timing ever. Though I will say that if Faith No More were to remove "Easy" from the
current setlist, I wouldn't complain.

Wanted to bump this thread back up because I got to see Faith No More live last night in Raleigh. Absolutely awesome show, the highlight of which was
probably seeing them perform "A Small Victory," which is a bit of a semi-rarity when it comes to their live sets. I was hoping for a little more of
the old old stuff ("Epic" and "We Care A Lot" were the only songs they played off of the first three albums...otherwise, no other Chuck-era
stuff or anything else off of The Real Thing), but outside of that I have absolutely zero complaints about the setlist. Hell, anytime I can see Faith
No More in the year 2015 and they play five songs off of Angel Dust, I'm good.
And just to further Faith No More nerd out, I really like how much they switch up their setlists night to night. I was looking at the setlist from
Philadelphia tonight and they played seven songs that they didn't play last night when I saw them (and vice-versa, they played seven songs in
Raleigh that weren't in the Philadelphia setlist). As a musician myself, it kind of annoys me when bands play the exact same setlist every night
while on tour, so good on them for keeping things diverse.
