They would get in major legal trouble for that.

There's a reason they display that screen full of text with the rules of the contest on it every week. They're required to because this is a contest with a quarter of a million dollar prize. If they rigged it they'd get sued by whomever didn't win.

Back to my original ? though...have they shared how the finals will work and the winners will be determined? Is it fan voting a la every week, or is it different?

If they have, I don't recall having seen or heard it.

1) Those rules are more the mechanics of voting, eligibility, when it's open, etc. They do not address the question of "and the winner will be determined by ___________," which again begs the question...is it 100% fan voting as has been every other week...or something else?

2) It mentions that the viewers can also vote on an Instant Save:

quote:

during each episode of WWE Tough Enough ("Show") there will be an "Instant Save" where eligible voters can save one of the bottom three (3) contestants (or bottom two (2) contestants should a judge enact a "Judge's save" from elimination

I have not seen / don't recall this at all. Was this ever in play?

3) As Muerto mentions....

quote:

Viewers must note that all of the following rules and procedures are subject to change at the sole discretion of World Wresting Entertainment, Inc. ("WWE") at any time.

...which explains elimination of (2) and still has open question on (1) even if they did say how final winners would be determined

yay

That's the elimination process they've done on every show.

No - what they have implemented is "vote on the bottom 3 and person with lowest votes gets eliminated....and if judge uses a save, the remaining person with the lowest votes gets eliminated."

What this reads is "voters have an instant save that will save one of the three (or two if judge uses their save) people." It does not address how the elimination would then be determined from the remaining 2 in case of no save.

Obviously they've modified things vs. what's on their rules now.

And look at this - the "how voting works and a winner is determined" has garnered more activity this season than anything about the actual show. Congrats, WWE, on a compelling TV product!

I've never quite understood why the WWE is so keen on the Tough Enough concept:

*Runner ups have gone on to far more success than winners- and you could argue that Morrison was really the only impact guy who won the thing. Maven was around, but he (IMO) always felt forced on the show in order to justify TE.

*When it took place as part of Raw it created a big hole in the product that just brought things down.

*I think it over exposes the product- yeah kayfabe's been dead for a long time, but the more and more you pull back that curtain the harder it get's to get guys over. Most wrestlers that come out of this are now being presented as green- we've seen their warts, and flaws, and we know they aren't the character that they will one day portray in the WWE.

I wonder if the WWE looks at the few successes they've had out of the show and imagines it justifies it's existence over scouting the Indies and holding tryouts... Of course the far more likely reality is that the WWE get's far too sold on an idea that doesn't work and in the absence of new ideas just keeps pushing it over and over with just minor tweaks thinking it will finally work.

The alternative though is that they might just simply look at as content... likely very cheap content to produce given that they already have talent on tap that they can use for the show, and the filming set is relatively easy to set up. They may not actually care the winner ever becomes something tangible to them or not, so long as they can keep selling the idea of some lucky fan will get to live their dream... whether or not they land some future "people's champ" is secondary.

Anyone still watching?

Finals are set as Tanner goes home.

Josh vs. ZZ
Amanda vs. Sara Lee

All male bottom 3 this week as they needed to get them down to 2.

Is this the first time ZZ has been in the bottom that he wasn't the top vote-getter (Josh had the most votes...which has to make the alleged "anti-ZZ WWE contingency" very happy headed into the finals).

At this point I think we get Amanda and Josh, which I'm sure is what WWE wants at this point....but I'm Team Sara Lee and Team ZZ all the way FTW!

You could really see the gears turning in Bryan's head last night when they asked him if he'd like to use his save. He's made it pretty clear that he's a fan of Tanner, but you could tell that he wasn't sure if he saved him whether that would mean certain doom for Josh or not. Understable, but had he gone all in, we'd be through with ZZ. Say what you will about the format of the show, I know I have, but I'm actually surprised by the amount of people coming out of this that I wouldn't mind seeing more of.

Daria (my initial pick for the women) has been training at Brian Kendricks wrestling school, and was recently joined by Mada. I could (and would like to) see Tanner continue to pursue this. Patrick's getting tons of indy bookings, and I'm sure he'll get another tryout sometime down the road. I warmed up to Gigi after Daria's elimination and hope that she gives it a go. Same with Josh, it wasn't until a few weeks ago that he won me over. By the looks of things he'll probably be the winner, which is a good thing because ZZ just pisses me off.

I've been following it, but enjoy the "Tough Talk" aftershow more.

The thing that bothers me with the women getting a contract is the Diva Search chatter that people have been reporting lately. If you are going to offer the girls a contract here, it's almost a step backward to do the model search version as well, especially with the Diva Revolution going on.

ZZ is gonna kill Cesaro and in so doing fully shift all the votes to Josh. Nice plan, wwe. You get the winner you want at the expense of someone who you don't fully believe in.

I presume Cesaro was chosen primarily because he's the only one who can shift that useless tub of deadweight all around the ring consistently. The entire season will be worth it if he gives ZZ the Cesaro Swing.

I can't imagine that that swing will be very pretty. I mean, ZZ's bitchtits will most likely cause a lot of drag and wind resistance. Spoiler: Cesaro gives himself a severe hernia trying to carry that lumpy bag of alligator dicks to an entertaining 3 minute match, will miss 4 months of action.

I don't know if I'm just blind to it, but where is this charisma that ZZ is supposed to have? I've seen more charisma from paint drying on a wall.

Cesaro strikes me as the guy they chose to go out there and pull a full-on Hardcore Holly. In fact, why didn't the just bring back Hardcore Holly for ZZ if WWE doesn't want him to win?

Also, I don't get why fans kept him in as a joke. Vince isn't going to take this as "They're mocking me." He's going to take it as "See, I know the business better than these fans ever will so we really need to stop listening to them." TE will live on and it'll just be less interactive next time.

He knew better what to do with his face and hair than anyone else in their first match in front of the nxt folks. Other than that he's useless.

You can see it on the live show too. He knows where the cameras are and moves so they have a clear view of him in the background when other people are talking.

Ratings have been dropping (and dropping and dropping and dropping /Cesaro) every week.

If Tough Enough is going to continue into another season (as a TV show, as a Network exclusive, as anything...), they're going to need to step back and look at the whole thing and what was wrong with this and what they need to do differently etc.

And really...ZZ was selected to be on the show. Not by any of us. By the WWE. 11,000 submissions. 40 people selected initially for tryouts (.4% of applicants). ZZ initially cut from that group and not selected as one of the 13 finalists, but when one of the dudes didn't pass whatever medical tests WWE ran, ZZ was thrown back into the mix, by HHH, because he believed that ZZ "had heart". ZZ then one of 13 people out of 11k applicants (.1%).

It shouldn't be a surprise really to anyone, especially WWE brass, that ZZ is still around and if so, they should look themselves in the mirror for his initial selection into the 40....and save once cut to put in the final 13.

They gave us the group that they believed had something, the .1% of everybody who expressed interest.

There's a balance you have to try for in casting contest-based reality shows where the prize at the end is a job. You want some people who will be entertainingly inept on the show and people who will actually be good at the job. You almost never find both of those in the same person. And you have to work the process to make sure a good person wins so that the show has some credibility for future seasons. They've never quite gotten it right with Tough Enough.

Same thing, to a lesser extent, with Sarah. I like her, but it would take her two or three times as many months or years to be ready for prime time as some of the girls who are already gone.

Imagine if they had cast 13 Brian Danielsons and John Cenas. The show would be video-nyquil, but they'd be guaranteed a great employee at the end.

I understand them using Cesaro to wrestle the guys. He knows what he's doing and is strong enough to power the guys around to save a spot or to save someone's neck. But Alicia Fox for the women? I know she's technically a veteran, I guess, but she still seems pretty sloppy and reckless in the ring. Why not put Del Rey out there with them? Or if they need someone who the average fan knows, why not call Nattie?

Well, ZZ didn't win, so there's that.

I like Sara a whole lot, I even think she's hotter than Amanda, but her match was terrible in comparison.

Was there a nip slip in the first diva match that they pushed the blackout button for, or did my cable just go weird for a second?

My screen blacked out too, so I'm willing to bet there was a wardrobe malfunction since Amanda seemed to spend most of her match fidgeting with her top.

...And here I thought ZZ was going to be the only boob exposed in the ring tonight.

I think we are all missing the big news here...

Cesaro just won back to back matches in front of a national televised audience.
