Damn, that was awesome. Thanks for sharing BBMN!

And now that I've had a couple of days to reflect on it, I think that might be one of the greatest battle scenes I've ever seen, period. And the fact that it wasn't in some $200 big budget Hollywood movie, but instead on a TV show, makes it that much more impressive. Granted, yes, Game Of Thrones isn't your average TV show and I'm sure the budget for that particular episode was probably pretty insane, but what the cast and crew were able to pull off is a pretty incredible feat.

On a show-related sidenote: with Ramsay being the last of the mainstay villains to be killed and Cersei potentially blowing up any number of characters on Sunday, it seems like they're really clearing the way for the Others to take center stage and/or Daenerys finally making her way to Westeros. Outside of the Starks potentially still seeking revenge against the Lannisters, I don't see much more conflict for the next couple of seasons beyond the Others and Daenerys storming Westeros.

My assumption is next season will be the Daenerys invasion. Plenty of drama there as to who sides with her and who doesn't. Could split houses, etc

If you want to play good guy/bad guy

* Starks are good guys and have the north.
* Littlefinger is a sleezy bastard and runs the Vale.
* Walder Frey is a dick and essentially runs the Riverlands.
* The Sparrows (and the High Sparrow) essentially run King's Landing and they are DICKS.
* The Lannisters control the Westernlands and, on average, are asses, even if Jaime is charming and Cersai is up against someone scummier than she is.
* I don't even know what is up in the Stormlands.
* The Tyrells still run Highgarden and, even though they are mostly faces, I don't think they'll like Dany.
* Dorne doesn't exist.

So, while the good guys (Starks and Dany) are doing well in the moment, there is a lot of messes to be resolved.

I think we are going to see some conclusions with Jamie and the Freys as well as the High Sparrow in the last episode though.

No problem. Saw it and had to share it.

And you're right. It's one of the single greatest battle scenes ever shot. It really is. From an aesthetic level it's very slick and interesting. And from a storytelling perspective it's spot on perfect. I truly thought it was going to be the end of Snow for a moment there. The focus on him and what he's doing and seeing is damn glorious.

And then there's the tactical element to how battles unfold and it's just so believable in how it plays out, and brutal in how scenes like these must have felt.

The only thing I didn't like was how his brother died. Ramsey should've missed him a couple times like he did, than ordered his men to fire their arrows... Have him go down in a hail of death and pure overkill, to the glee of Ramsey. Drive home the idea of "Perhaps you're better, but I know I have more manpower." But now I'm nit-picking. Overall amazing episode and battle.

Yeah, I do think we'll see some continued realigning/streamlining by the end of the season finale. We've already got Dany/Tyrion now with Theon/Yara and the Starks recapturing Winterfell and being teamed up with Littlefinger and the Eyrie, so it seems like the last thing to sort out is what's going on in King's Landing and the stuff Jamie's involved in.

100% this. I want to say that I knew Jon Snow wasn't going to die, but dammit if I didn't think he was once or twice during that entire battle scene (especially with Melisandre's whole "maybe the Lord of Light brought you back just so you could die again here" comment). It's kind of like the recent Reigns/AJ matches...I knew there was no way in fuck AJ was winning the title, but they damn sure got me to bite on a couple of those close near-falls.

Yes, I loved that aspect of it as well. I mean, Jon's army are the good guys, but they had the smaller numbers and got pretty thoroughly trounced and out-maneuvered before Littlefinger's cavalry showed up. It was just so realistic and brutal, which is I why I give it the edge over Hardhome in that department (even if Hardhome overall is the more "holy shit" moment).
