OOfficial Discussion Thread for: RAW (March 21, 2016)
Tonight on RAW: for better or for worse, the WWE Title feud between Triple H and Roman Reigns will be the primary throughline... no Brock, no
Taker, coin flip on whether Shane appears on camera or not (though he will be in the building), so at best, the other two prongs of WWE's
three-headed Top of the Card fork will have to be dealt with indirectly... since Brock and Ambrose are already both slated for their showdown tomorrow
on SmackDown, they could easily be left out of the equation, altogether (save for a hype video and a reminder that everybody should actually watch SD
this week).... but you can't do the same for TWO WM32 matches, and expect to get away with it; Shane/Taker will require actual value-add of some
kind, not just a FF-able video package...
While WWE will no doubt focus on HHH/Reigns, and seeing if there is anyway to undo the trainwreck of their own making that is Reigns' uber-face
push to the title, tonight will also be a chance to establish whatever they're going to be doing with the IC Title....
A big multi-way, with Kevin Owens forced into a match against a slew of his recent thorns-in-his-side, seemed all but certain, but rumors surfaced
last week of WWE considering last second changes to the card... Owens/Zayn as a one-on-one could be the new plan, or new personnel in the multi-way
might be the play (due to Neville's injury)... I, personally, champion a move to "marry" the Owens/Zayn and Jericho/Styles feuds, so that
those four are involved in a multi-way IC Title Scramble of some kind... after last week's SD (in which Styles called Owens a "jackass," but
then Owens got a cheap win over Styles in the main event), it'd be as easy as getting Styles/Zayn in a tag match against Jericho/Owens, and then
having Owens do his new trick of walking out on his tag partner, and VOILA~!, now Jericho hates Owens, too, while Styles hates Jericho AND Owens, and
Zayn dislikes Owens, but hates no one because he's a happy-go-lucky nice guy... you can add Ziggler and one more (maybe Miz), if you want, and
the ladder is optional...
Big Show might also still be in play for a multi-way, as he returned to "action" over the weekend on house shows.... I put "action" in quotes,
because he was in tag matches with Kane, and didn't seem to do much.... the rumor was he injured a knee several weeks ago, and would be out of
action for months, but this would suggest he's trying to tough it out to be available for WM, and might be a viable choice for any match in
which he can be "hidden" be it a 6-way, or be it the Andre Battle Royale...
Speaking of which, the Andre Battle Royale was finally made official last week, but as of now, the only entrants are the Social Outcasts, so expect
more to declare tonight.... Usos vs. Dudleys was also confirmed for the WM line-up, but it might be open to the addition of the Golden Truth, after an
angle on SD; tonight should provide an indication on whether or not the Goldust/Truth team will be "ready" by WM32, or if they're on a
trajectory to finally unite after WM... New Day vs. the League of Nations is pretty much ready to serve after last week's vicious beatdown, and
the notion of the New Day being on the wrong end of the Numbers Game for the first time; while this does mean the tag titles are dormant for WM, it
should still be a fun and compelling affair that doesn't require much additional work between now and WM... the women's title triple
threat was an unexpected highlight of last week's SD, with Charlotte, Becky, and Sasha all getting to play to their individual strengths in a
promo, before a compelling three-way brawl; again, only basic maintenance should be necessary for this one.... Kalisto/Ryback is happening, for the US
Title, and while this presumably sets up Ryback for a last ditch push as a top heel, it might be more interesting to keep an eye on whether this is
also somehow setting up a heel turn for Sin "How much more black could it be? None. The answer is none more black" Cara.... and who can forget that
WWE is also planning a 6- or 8-woman Total Divas Showcase tag match (depending on whether Nattie and Eva Marie get added to the current
configuration)? Oh right, we ALL would love to forget that, but WWE's forging ahead, anyway, in a last ditch effort to save said "reality"
show even though ratings are half what they used to be for E! "network"....
Stan Hansen is the last member of the Class of 2016 for the Hall of Fame (as spoiled several weeks ago by a WWE magazine), and will probably be
announced tonight.... that leaves this year's "celebrity wing" inductee to be announced next week, and as yet, WWE hasn't finalized that
choice, though Regis Philbin (many guest spots at WrestleManias in the 80s and 90s) and Joan Lunden (partner with WWE in the breast cancer awareness
biz) have been discussed....
That is all. End communication.
The flOOr is yours, OO Nation. Don't wait till after 11pm to post, either. Pre-show previewing and prognosticating is certainly welcome.
So discuss, debate, and rate!

Apologies in advance, but bastardizing this space to quickly bring up...
The OO Fantasy Baseball League is back for 2016! All are invited, whether an OO vet or lurker or spam account. We like to get as many in
there as possible, so give it a try.
Free league and we try to do division play to make it interesting.
On the IC/US title front - was championing before they kinda set these matches that Owens-Zayn as one and multi-man as the other made a whole lot more
sense than giving Ryback and Kalisto their own misplaced match on the show.
As much as I don't hate Ryback, you can't sleep on a guy with no storylines for most of the year and expect people to buy into his match
at Mania. Wrestlemania is 4 hours, so playing the numbers game, I'd rather have 3 matches including the AJ-Jericho stuff than combine things
(although Rick's idea will probably create one hell of a match).
It feels like the guys getting left out of the main card who WWE wants to get on it are Ziggler and Miz, and they're pretty easy to lump in
there with Ryback-Kalisto as "smaller-types" that Ryback is focusing on. Would definitely make for a better match on that end, and Ryback knocking
off all-3, including some veterans, would make it more impressive (and maybe a slight bit less obvious of a result.)

I'm beginning to think more and more that Ziggler will factor into the championship match at Mania.
Is that a waste of his talent? Yeah. He'd do well in whatever spot-fest-y match they wanted to run.
But his constant headbutting with the Authority....
...the presumed "Vince and Steph/HHH are on the same side since Shane is the common enemy"
..this would be a way for him to get back at them and in so doing help Shane out (or further explain a UT loss).
HHH looks to get himself involved in the match by doing something to Shane.....and Ziggler neutralizes that by taking out HHH.
Or something.

Who was that "in memoriam" for? I didn't recognize the person/name.
Is everyone mad here?

No idea what the connection is, but after a google search...this seems to be her.
Their desire to make AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens old before they actually get to pay it off on a PPV is admirable...or whatever the complete opposite
word is.

.
If we're to believe in WWE Advanced Plans and Strategy (c):
Shane's opening promo two weeks ago talked about wrestlers who didn't deserve it being pushed and those with real talent being held
back.
Assuming in order to qualify for that, you have to be on the WWE roster (only way it makes sense for an over pushed in the same realm as under
pushed), what are the wrestlers who would qualify?
First would probably be Cesaro...second...Ziggler.
So....you could be on to something...
Again, if we believe in Advanced Plans and Strategy.

The visual problem with RR is he dresses in black and looks the heel part. I know....overly simplistic but that's where it starts.
Otherwise how does his "shhhh" not bring down the house?

It appears they work with the Roman Reigns character

Hmm. I figured that the old guy had to be involved too, otherwise they'da just used a solo picture of her.
That was pretty much the extent of my logic. #secretsrevealed

To amend my previous equation, should we hope for:
AJ + KO + Y2J + (S + D + M^(i))Z = WM32
Double word score! Yahtzee!!!
My math teacher would be so proud of me right now.

If that were the entire uppercard of the WWE fighting over the Heavyweight Title instead of the I.C., I would not be displeased at all. Okay, you can
add Ambrose and Braaaaaack too.
FUNKER!!!!

Ambrose's path to WrestleMania is starting to turn into some kind of Legend of Zelda/Castlevania/Metroid gear collecting thing. I'd almost
hope he shows up with all of this stuff for the match.

I know this is probably the height of nitpickery, especially since I'm enjoying Ambrose's build to 'Mania, but would it have killed
them to have Funk give him the old branding iron? What, couldn't get clearance from the fire marshall to light it on fire inside the bar? Or are
we supposed to imagine that Chainsaw Charlie was the most iconic stage of Terry Funk's career?

I was going to comment on your first post. Is someone complaining about AJ/KO being on Raw? Complaining about one of the most entertaining matches
they could throw out there for us? Glad to see they changed your mind.

Well the young lady's mother answered the question in the comments within the article you posted. Her father has been working for WWE for over
20 years.
I remember the WWF (yes it was the F back then) doing a little mention for one of the victims of the Columbine massacare (and in doing so neglecting
to give a tribute to the only wrestler to appear on Raw and Nitro in the same evening, who died on that fateful day in April 1999).
In any event that was a nice tribute from Vince and company.
