2016 NBA PLAYOFFS -
What a miserable way to end a great regular season. Who are these motherfuckers on the preset tonight.
That is all. Move along
[Edited on 4-15-2016 by merc]
Miserable way to end the playoffs too. The boys quit in game 5 and then turtles at home in front of Bill Russell.

OK. All is right in the universe.
I am officially reserving OO space for rants to the NBA FINALS.
That was one horrific first half, but one ass kicking second half.

merc - can you edit the thread title to be NBA 2016 Finals or something like that?
West:
Warriors over Rockets (4)
Clippers over Trailblazers (6)
Thunder over Mavericks (5) <-------- booooooooo! MFFL!
Spurs overs Grizzlies (4)
Warriors over Clippers (5)
Spurs over Thunder (6)
Spurs over Warriors (7)
East:
Cavaliers over Pistons (5)
Hawks over Celtics (7) <---------------- sorry, merc
Raptors over Pacers (5)
Heat over Hornets (6)
Cavaliers over Hawks (6)
Raptors over Heat (6)
Raptors over Cavs (6)
Finals:
Spurs over Raptors (6)
Whoever comes out of the West is winning it all, and it will come down to Spurs vs. Warriors as it should.

I love the Spurs, but the Warriors are absolutely repeating this year. They lost nine games all season, so there's no way in fuck they're
dropping four in one series to anyone in the playoffs.

Warriors only lost 9 games...Spurs 15.
Spurs were 40-1 at home, Warriors 39-2.
Warriors were 34-7 on the road, Spurs 27-14.
Warriors won the series, 3-1, taking both at home and splitting at San Antonio.
Warriors would own home court, so 4 at home, 3 on the road.
Yes, Warriors have the edge...and that's reflected in current odds:
Golden State Warriors 2/3
San Antonio Spurs 15/4
Cleveland Cavaliers 4/1
That being said....it's nowhere out of the realm of possibility that (a) the series goes long and (b) the Spurs pull it off. You said "no way
in fuck" which pretty much equates to 0% chance. I'd give the Spurs a ~30-40% chance of taking the series, which, if I'm doing my math
correctly, is > "no fucking way".

Doubting the C's in the first round?
I wonder why I changed the thread title....
IIRC GS took 2 OT to beat the Green in Boston & took a L at home when the good guys were short handed. If only they get there

I would love to see the Spurs win the whole thing and for Duncan to get a sixth ring (or hell, I'd even like to see Lebron get a championship
for Cleveland), but I stand by my "no way in fuck, 0% chance" odds of the Warriors not repeating. And I'm not saying that the Warriors might
not be challenged or pushed by other teams in the playoffs, but just that there's no way they aren't hoisting up the trophy in June. You
don't go 73-9 and then lose in the Western Conference Finals.

No, they'll lose in the finals to the Cavs. Because as good as the Warriors are, they're going 7 in back to back series before they even
get to the finals, while the Cavs may play 1 or 2 extra games in the first 3 rounds. And the fact that the Warriors went deep last year, had to play
with intensity for all 82 games this year, and will have at least 2 very tough series in the west (Clippers - they HATE each other so it will be
physical and nasty and tougher than most expect and either the Spurs or Thunder). They will be exhausted by game 4 of the finals and will be running
on fumes and will squeak out an extra win or 2 as they push the Cavs to a 6th game, but fall short.

Eh, I just don't see that. I agree that the Warriors have a tougher road to the finals than the Cavs do, but I just view them like I did the
90's Bulls or 00's Lakers, in that it's a foregone conclusion they're winning the NBA title.

Absolutely. Short of a tragic plane crash, nobody's beating the Warriors in a series. The closest thing to that kind of upset in recent memory
is the Pistons beating the Lakers about ten years ago, and ANYBODY beating the Warriors would be about ten times more of an upset this year.
I hope I'm wrong, though. I want someone to just give them a good fight, like the Knicks used to give the Bulls. Actually, fouling the hell
out of Curry/Thompson might not be a horrible idea. Yes, they shoot free throws ridiculously well, but they'll remember big hits. It's
any other team's only chance.

Patrick Beverly & Josh Smith are trying that here in game 1. The Warriors are up 18 in the first. Yea, I might be wrong about the Cavs. This team is
magical to watch.

Another lazy first half by the C's. When you can't defend a backdrop cut or get a defensive board with 3 in the paint, you forgot your
heart on the bus.
This Hawks team isn't the Heat.
Wow, they almost were the Heat. How the hell do they do that?
Bradley's hammy is not good, he & Smart switching with Crowder seemed to slow Teague.
2-1 fouls shooting imbalance makes the 102-101 suckier.
Did Korver play tonight?

What's with all the blowouts, especially in the West? The playoffs shouldn't be like the All-Star Game.

7 fucking points in the first quarter. Kelly Olynyk out with a Vag strain.
Brad Stevens is a great coach, just not pre game or in the first "six-eight minutes"
ITS THE PLAYOFFS BOYS! How about we START focused.
No heroic almost come back matters, you still lost game 1 and looks like a D league team in the first 6-8 minutes.

I would say that injuries are the only thing that could derail the Warriors in the playoffs, but then they go and lose Steph (again) today and still
win by 27 points on the road. So yeah, I'm sticking with my Warriors guarantee.

Not sure why they brought Curry back so soon. I think he could have waited til game 1 round 2.
C's looks strong in game 3 and fought in game 4. Put Sully on the end of the bench, let Olynyk continue with Vag rehab and let the Swede keep
dropping double doubles. Man did Milsap look good until the final 5 minutes...and any Hawks fan should wonder what the F that last 15 second of
regulation was. Coaches hit the restroom?
Looking forward to Tuesday in ATL.

The Rockets are a bad team...a very bad team. Warriors minus Steph would have issues against Clips, OKC, and Spurs.

Oh, I don't disagree. But it's still a road win in the playoffs by 27 points without your star player for the second half (not to mention
they also set a playoff record for three pointers made).
EDIT: Sounds like Steph is going to be out for at least two weeks. Though if the Warriors take care of business at home (which they presumably will),
it could end up that he only misses a couple of games and is back at some point in the semifinals against the Clippers/Blazers.
Speaking of semifinals, I think Spurs/Thunder is going to be a hell of a series.

I wouldn't worry too much about it, you get Game 7 at home and should be fine. As opposed to my Charlotte Hornets, who shit the bed tonight at
home when they had a chance to close out the series (as I predicted they would amongst friends) and now get to go lose Game 7 in Miami.

Westbrook and Durant need to go their separate ways. The Thunder just can't construct a winner or pick a good coach. Image Westbrook on the
Celtics (have assets to trade) and KD on the Clips (sign & trade with Blake). Isn't the league better? And OKC with Isiah, Blake and lots of
picks would still be a playoff team with assetsgor another big trade.

Yeah, if the Spurs continue to thrash the Thunder like they did last night, I'm assuming this is the end of the Durant/Westbrook era in OKC.
