"Created by Liz Flahive (Homeland) and Carly Mensch (Orange Is the New Black), G.L.O.W. was inspired by the real story of the 1980s female wrestling
league. Set in Los Angeles and showcasing big hair and body slams, the series tells the fictionalized story of an out-of-work actress who finds one
last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers."

Bump. Trailer was released today. Looks like sleazy fucked-up-1980's-based fun.

Bumping this one because CCharger pulled a royberto and didn't bother to take a simple gander to see if there was another thread about the same
before posting about it.
Bonus 'berto points for being the one who started the original thread which was bumped a month ago.

My expectations are, ummm, not high. Trying to make a compelling show about a show that's only claim to fame is that some people think it was so
bad, it was good.... seems like a tall task, to say the least.
That said, on a purely pervy level, it may be a full decade since Troy and Abed got a pet monkey and named it Annie's Boobs, but I can
confidently state that Annie's Boobs in Spandex are more than enough reason for me to at least test drive GLOW.

Jeez, I didn't even recognize Alison Brie....
I was kinda "meh" on this until the Robot... once I saw they put a robot in it I added it to my watch list.

Greatest. Show. Ever.
Also it is pretty damned entertaining and makes full use of the 80's having a great soundtrack to it in general. In about 2 and a half hours
you can binge half the season, but it is very good TV. Funny with a good story. And if you wanted to know how a match with Alex Riley vs. Joey Ryan
would play out in the 80's, this show has your answer.

Correct. A. Mundo. Johnny, that is.
Just seen't the first episode and it was the tits. Literally and figuratively. Cool to see some familiar wrasslers in action. It's got a
cool retro vibe to it, great tunes, and it's 80's set so I'm totally in 'til the end.
Also, I've brought some NSFW treats for the rest of the class to enjoy, so enjoy!
And no, I don't mind if you wanna use either of those for your new avs.
ETA: Also, here's a couple more of Betty (Debbie "Liberty Belle" Eagan) Gilpin's acting
talents. You may recognize her from such films as oh who gives a fuck and just click the linky fer yer winky already.

Watched half of it so far. It's really good. It's been great to see real wrestlers make cameos, including a best. moonshot. ever. Also,
Awesome Kong is part of the main cast, I didn't even recognize her until I looked up the cast on IMDB. Love the 80s soundtrack as well.
Also, Annie's Boobs.

Did I say Annie's Boobs in spandex? My bad.
Wow, that sure escalated quickly. In my pants.
I only got 2 episodes in so far. I suspect the gratuitous toplessness by a super-hot-chick will go down much like Brody's Wife on Homeland (e.g.
we've seen the last of it, as it was just a ploy to trick you into caring past the first episode), but it doesn't seem nearly as
uncompelling as I'd feared, so I will consume the entire season.

Finished it over the weekend. That show was way better than I expected it to be. It's a show both wrestling fans and non-wrestling fans will
enjoy, but wrestling fans will especially enjoy it.
Also, "Dare" from Transformers The Movie was used in a montage!

Binge watched over the weekend. I liked it a lot. I was worried that Alison Brie would play this really strong woman, but she was really quite the
loser when you get right down to it and it helped the plot and character development. Betty Gilpin did a great job as the stronger, but wronged
woman. Marc Mahon played a great sleezeball producer and Chris Lowell was great as the trust boy money mark.
Big plusses for giving the other wrestlers strong enough personalities that they all stuck out in their own way. The scene were Arthie was doing the
scene as an over the top terrorist and they handed her the gun because the scene wasn't working and she broke character cracked me up. I love
Awesome Kong as the Welfare Queen and had forgotten that old racist (oops, it wasn't racist, was it) 80s stereotype.
Really, this works in most ways. I am very impressed and looking forward to seeing more.

I binge-watched the first 6 (or was it 7?) episodes yesterday after helping my SIL move. Yeah, I'm digging this.
For some reason, I thought it was great to see Alex Riley have a moment to shine. And I didn't recognize Carlito at first. He
seems...bigger......than before, and the hair is different.
It's a little weird, as it's shorter than a "regular TV" episode, but usually longer than 30 minutes. Kinda like Nurse Jackie (another
creation from Liz Flahive, in which Betty Gilpin played a dumb/bad and slutty doctor) in that regard. Good, as it means there isn't as much
filler to slow things down too much.

Started watching this out of curiosity. In under 24 hours, I'd consumed the entire series plus the GLOW documentary.
I'm already looking forward to season 2.
Sometimes it pushed the "80's nostalgia" button a bit too hard. (The music, and the overt cocaine use being the prime offenders)
Marc Maron seems familiar, but in looking at his IMDB page, the only other thing listed that I've seen was "Almost Famous" in which he played
"Angry Promoter". I guess him and his role just screamed "Robert Downey Jr. adjace" to me

At first I thought that it was The Miz, before it was pointed out to me that it was Alex Riley.
And though I recognized Brodus Clay, I thought other brother might Carlito, but thought better of it as the guy was too bulky to be him. I stand
corrected.

Count me in on the G.L.O.W. love. Me and the better half are about halfway through the season and have been loving every minute. Just an excellent
storyline, excellent characters, excellent writing. You don't even really need to be a wrestling fan to enjoy it. And props to the actresses
for how they really seemed to bust their ass in the ring. Hell, I've been thinking an Emmy and/or Golden Globe nomination for Alison Brie
wouldn't seem out of place. She's phenomenal in her role. When she went "heel" at the patio furniture store opening and started
playing the evil Russian we were cracking up.

Shout out to Chavo Guerrero Jr. who worked behind the scenes teaching the actors how to wrestle during a 5 week boot camp.
