Just thinking, are there any old guard guys of his era left now that Flair, Zeb, and him are pretty much gone? Next tier old timers would be Kane,
Taker, and Haitch? Oy vey...
Worse would be H doing a solid for his Clique friends. None of them are 1/3 as funny as they think they are.
He's probably too old at this point, but Kevin Sullivan was a really solid color guy.
I was just thinking in general more along the lines of who amongst the Really Old Guard is left, but you raise an interesting point regardless. Pac
and Nash certainly not, and I don't think HBK would be up for it. I've never seen Billy Gunn as much of a talker but Road Dogg sure as
shit would fit the bill given his charisma and loquaciousness. Wait, which one is on the outs right now, Gunn or Dawg?
If they're gonna eventually skew younger with the announce team there's only one guy who could ever fit the bill that checks all the boxes
of gravitas, humor, nuance, and wrestling knowledge. Maybe the WWE can make him a wheelchair accessible announce table once he's done getting
his stool pushed into his spine in the UFC.

I'd say Dawg. Gunn is too much of an Attitude creation to be able to keep it clean. Plus he hates Hunter anyway. I'd say transition
Jericho to the role eventually for when he wants to call it quits on the in-ring work.
You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know,
that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but
I'm not high. You know what I mean?

I'd say so too, dawg. You know Canadian sassback gets me moist. Dunno if Hunter has the chops for it but I could see him and Jerko pulling a
latter day McMahon/Ventura. I'd lose my shit in the extreme literal sense if they somehow managed Regal/Jerko.

I don't see Jericho wanting to make that kind of commitment; his music and other stuff he get's involved with probably pulls him away too
much.
CM Punk is a great idea... I just don't see how you get him there without him being a constant distraction as the fans try and get him into the
ring week after week. Long term, I do like it though... whether it would happen or not is another thing altogether.
If I had my way what I'd do is stick with the three person team on Raw (subbing Rene into the mix), as it's established there... and then
on SD I'd go with Mauro and Road Dogg, and then almost go sports program style and cut away between matches to your insight guy who could be a
vet who could do some instant replay type stuff.... stop doing the moments ago, or recap stuff with the live guys, and more of a dissection or
reporting style from the third "insider".

Gunn is after he tested positive for steroids prior to a non-WWE ervent. Dawg is employed in good standing by WWE.

And I am proven right as all charges were dropped:

Lawler should return shortly.
ETA: In fact, Lawler's suspension was lifted and he is fully re-instated according to the update in the above link.
So, I guess WWE wasn't looking for an excuse to get rid of him.
