Trump's Lies and Broken Promises

Let this be a repository for all of President Trump's lies and broken promises. All the things he said and promised in the campaign and then forgot, changed, or repudiated once he was elected. Boy, are the conservatives gonna be pissed.

1. "Lock Her Up"
Trump now says, "That plays great before the election -- now we don't care, right?"

http://www.cnn.com/2016/12/09/politics/donald-trump-hillary-clinton-lock-her-up-chant/

2. "Drain The Swamp"
Im told he now just disclaims that. He now says it was cute, but he doesnt want to use it anymore, said Newt Gingrich.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/gingrich-says-trump-is-done-with-drain-the-swamp-slogan-173426892.html

3. "Build That Wall"
Hell spend a lot of time controlling the border. He may not spend very much time trying to get Mexico to pay for it, but it was a great campaign device, Gingrich said.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-and-aides-hedge-on-major-pledges-including-obamacare-and-the-wall/2016/11/11/9196b364-a82f-11e6-8fc0-7be 8f848c492_story.html?utm_term=.a9afd2941f3d

Feel free to add to he list. It should get rather long.

Basically, I expect none of this to matter. He won't put forth an agenda that he expects Congress to pass. Congress will try to go down their own path. Instead, he will look for small victories that can grab headlines for a day (e.g., the Carrier factory) and then want to bask in the love of his supporters.

As a result, the only thing that matters for Trump is what he might do to upset his key supporters because I don't think he is going to win over anyone who doesn't like him. And, honestly, I don't think he can do anything to upset his key supporters. He has already demonstrated he can say what he wants and they still stick with him. It isn't clear to me at all his supporters know what they want, so it's impossible not to meet their undefined desires. So, I expect 4 years of Trump saying things that offends half the country and puffs up the other half while not much gets done.

To be honest his campaign was lacking any specific promises for him to break, besides the build the wall and lock her up, he spewed forth generalizations and unmeasurables, drain the swamp (what does that mean?), everyone will say Merry Christmas (That is controlled by presidential edict or companies not wanting to offend the 25% of their customers that don't celebrate xmas, but how is that measured anyway?)

I would rather just wait four years and have a thread discussing his accomplishments and how they benefitted/hurt his base.

At the end of four years the only real accomplishment they'll have will be from unleashing a massive venereal disease epidemic by nuking Planned Parenthood because STD prevention is a huge part of what PP does. Ironic that the hard-core bible-thumps are going to get so much of all they wanted in the endless culture war by hitching their wagon to probably the most secular hedonist that ever won the presidency.

The Christmas thing cracks me up because Trump is so clearly not a Christian and yet Christians everywhere want to pretend he is. Well, I should say 'psuedo-Christians' because the one thing this election has convinced me is that most people who say they are Christian aren't followers of Christ.

As per PP, some Trump supporters are shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, to discover that the promises to the religious right he intends to keep are gonna kinda suck for a hell of a lot of people.

Wait until the ones who hated Obamacare so much find out the hard way that getting rid of it will also entail a full gutting of Medicare and privatizing what's remaining of it, which is what the likes of Paul Ryan have been wanting all along. Those on Medicare or Obamacare who voted for Trump and GOP congress-critters? Well, you kind of deserve what's going to happen to you because that level of stupidity really should be painful.

People literally don't care what Trump does because, in their minds, "Killary" would have been worse.

(See, it's clever because it's "Hillary" except with a "K" like "kill". Because she has people killed. Huzzah.)

Here's another broken promise by our PEOTUS:

* Said during the election he would not do business once elected president, but during his news conference yesterday, he said that he discussed a $2 billion deal with a Dubai businessman Hussein Damack last weekend, but decided against it.

Also, The British bookie Ladbrokes is taking bets on whether Trump finishes his first term. Currently the implied probability that he either resigns or is impeached before Jan 20, 2021, is 52%.

His ego won't let him resign (and if he does, you mark my words, there will be "health issues"), but every single time that baby-fingered piss goblin tweets I think it moves his inevitable impeachment up by 15 minutes.

The one thing helping me sleep at night is my utter childlike faith that he'll do himself in within two years. Nixon wasn't smart enough to get away with all of his shit, and Trump isn't nearly as brilliant as Nixon.

Yeah, but I don't think a Nixon-level scandal would be enough to bring Trump down. Watergate happened at a point in history when Nixon and his party couldn't brush off overwhelming evidence of wrongdoing. No matter what awful shit Trump gets caught doing, no matter how clear the evidence is, he'll deny it, all his supporters in right-wing media will say it's made up, the vast majority of his ground-level supporters will refuse to believe it and Republican lawmakers won't have the guts to make a stand on it. Now, if the Republicans lose the House and Senate, that might be a different story.

ETA: Or he'll say it's totally OK because he says so, right-wing media will parrot the line and ground-level supporters will throw a temper tantrum claiming he's being treated unfairly.

And Obama was going to rake away your guns.

Trump did make it more expensive to buy a home.

And is starting to process to repeal ACA with no replacement.

Not exactly too impressed with the quality of the "resistance" thus far. The women marching today wearing their pussy hats when they should have been openly carrying rifles instead makes it even worse. We need valkyries, furies, amazons, and shield maidens at this moment now, ladies, not a legion of Lena Dunham clones going on about their vayjays and the feelings associated with them.

Here come the white college-age kids. Like, wow.
