Ultimate FINISHER Showdown Preparation

I like the group brainstorming compilation technique we've used for the last few showdowns, so I'm implementing it again for this next one. It helps to regulate the field and keeps us at a manageable number. The Ultimate Object Showdown is a month or so away from completion, so I'd like to start preparing the list for the Ultimate Finisher Showdown. There is no planned start date as of yet, but you can never be too early for the preparation stage.

I'm thinking of having the first round be a qualification round of sorts, in order to pair each finisher with the person who best or most notably performs it. Example: The Chokeslam. Performed by Kane, Taker, Show, Hurricane, etc. Round 1 would pit them all against each other and the best version of the Chokeslam would move on to face different finishers.

Use this as the "all things Finisher Showdown-related" thread. Thoughts, questions, opinions... And submit your finishers (along with who performs them)! The ideal amount would probably be 512, so we've got a long ways to go.

Are we going by one per wrestler? For example, Sting has the Death Drop and Death Lock.

Thanks for taking this ordeal one more time Matte. I've been waiting for this one. I want see how far barely used finishers will go and with that mind, here's 8 experimental match enders that were barely used.

Brock Lesnar's Brock Lock
Edge's Edgecator(lame name aside, it's a badass version of the Sharpshotter)
Big Show's Cobra Clutch Backbreaker
Ambrose's knee lift to the head(FCW finisher)
Bret's Figure Four on the ringpost
Paige's PTO(I feel like the RamPaige quickly eclipsed it)
John Morisson's C4
Booker T's Houston Hangover(I know it was a regular in WCW, but we barely saw it in WWE)

Nope, all finishers are welcome. Sting can have them both.

Too many to choose from. Trying to keep it real to moves that look like they can lay people out for real, not goofy things like The Worm or Mr. Socko. Here's a starter list:

SCSA's Stunner
Victoria's Widow's Peak
Gail Kim's Eat Defeat
Roxxi Laveau's Voodoo Drop
Y2J's Codebreaker
Carlito's Backstabber
HBK's Sweet Chin Music
Ambrose's Dirty Deeds
Beth Phoenix' Glam Slam
Hall's Razor's Edge
Owens' Pop-Up Powerbomb
Christian's Unprettier
Sting's Scorpion Death Drop
Angle's Olympic Slam
Dudley Death Drop

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?

I'm gonna say singles only. We can do a (much shorter) tag version down the road.

What about describing the moves for people not familiar with some of the more obscure ones?

Saturn's Moss-Covered Three-Handled Family Gradunza, for example, is a great name but "swinging fisherman's facebuster" is more descriptive.

Are we including Japanese finishers that don't really get used in the states? Because the Burning Hammer and Tiger Driver '91 should totally be in if we're including Japanese stuff.

Another note: I'm thinking of dividing the moves into categories for the tournament. Something like submission moves (Figure 4, Sharpshooter), flying moves (SSP, 450), impact moves (Pedigree, Chokeslam), and striking moves (Superkick, Elbow). Moves compete in their own category until one remains from each, giving us our Ultimate Submission Finisher, Ultimate Flying Finisher, Ultimate Impact Finisher, and Ultimate Striking Finisher, to advance to the final four to crossover and compete against each other to be crowned Ultimate Finishing Move. I think that's a good way to sort everything and I like that it gives us each category's best finish before the actual finish.

More moves:

Roderick Strong's End of Heartache
Cedric Alexander's Lumbar Check
Baron Corbin's End of Days
Matt Morgan's Hellevator
Akira Tozawa's Snap German Suplex
Hayabusa's Falcon Arrow
Christopher Daniels' Angel's Wing
John Morrison's Starship Pain

The SSP Category:
Jushin Liger
Matt Sydal
Billy Kidman
Paul London
Brock Lesnar
Marc Mero
Matt Cross

Seen several frog splashes named, but left out the best of the lot: D'Lo Brown's Lo Down.

And ridiculous moves deserve to be included...even if they don't look like they could hurt a fly, some of them were crazy over and were put over as legit finishers on TV, so...

The People's Elbow (The Rock)
The Worm (Scotty 2 Hotty)
The Cobra (Santino Marella)

And a few more...

Gas Mask (Pete Gas)
High Society (Rodney's blockbuster)
Blockbuster (Buff Bagwell)
Bubba Bomb (Bubba Ray Dudley)
Saving Grace (D-Von Dudley)
Snow Plow (Al Snow)
Stevie Kick (Stevie Richards)
Meaniesault (Blue Meanie)
Mic Check (Mr. Kennedy/Anderson)
Spear (Edge)
Downward Spiral (Edge)
Edgecution (Edge)
Gore (Rhino)
The Pounce (Monty Brown)
Alabama Slam (Hardcore Holly)
Curtain Call (Goldust)
Cross Rhodes (Cody Rhodes)
X-Factor (X-Pac)
Rough Ryder (Zack Ryder)
Greetings From Asbury Park (Bam Bam Bigelow)

Just got reminded of the overused, boring finishers WWE had everybody do in the 00s.

Overdrive: Randy Orton, MVP, Carlito

STO(some are jumping variations):Muhammad Hassan, Ken Kennedy, MVP, Shelton Benjamin, R Truth

I dig the idea of the categories. Would ''drops'' go under impact or get a separate category? The Banzai Drop, the Leg Drop, Warrior's splash, etc.

Mike Awesome's Awesome Bomb, especially when it was into a table outside the ring or into a table propped up in the corners. Legitimately evil and bad-ass.

Jerry Lynn's Cradle Piledriver
THE Fingerpoke of Doom*
Yokozuna's Bonsai Drop
Sgt. Slaughter's Cobra Clutch
Superfly Snuka's Superfly Splash

*Not really, just seeing if anyone's paying attention.
