Rumor Crap Thread Concerns: Legitimate or Malarkey?
Note: Before voting, please refer to CM Crunk's thread, Are the Rumor Crap
threads low key killing the bOOard?
The question: What is your opinion on the Rumor Crap thread? An explanation to go along with your vote would be nice.

I did "major tweaks needed" but my real vote is for whatever option causes ccharger the most pain and suffering.
It has contributed to killing some elements of the bOOardies, not that that amounts to a major negative factor in and of itself but it certainly adds
to the argument of 'RUMORZ BADS". There is no "best trainwreck" thread because the rumorz thredz are full of several trainwrecks each. The
trainwrecks are not thread-specific. Best wrestling kinda the same = we get good discussion going in rumorz (and other places) but then it's
lost at the end of the year. No one rightfully wants to sort through hundreds of pages to find that one topic / set of posts / etc.
There's not enough active mod'ing going on to regularly groom Rumorz to spin off topics deserving their own thread.... not that
that's a good use of anyone's time.
In conclusion, fuck Ccharger and do what makes him cry the most.

Going with minor tweaks
Just have somebody frequently take the bigger news from the rumors thread and make it it's own topic. I'm one of the newer guys and
don't have that grizzled vet experience a lot of you have but is it such a big deal for a couple of dead threads to pop up through out the
week?
Sure it makes this place look inactive but so does going through weeks where the only new threads are for episodes of RAW/SD/PPV. At least the former
option encourages more activity and discussion.

If you think I care that much about a rumor thread on a wrestling message board, let me tell you: I give zero fucks. Nice try though.
Rather, in and effort to help you out, I have provided you with a list of things a right-wing Texan like yourself would find more appropriate to
direct their rage and hatred at:
Mexicans
immigration
Negroes
queers
libtards
Democrats
Barack Hussein Obama
Hillary Clinton
New Yorkers
Oklahoma
flooding
tornadoes
hurricanes
theory of evolution
Muslims
Sikhs
Hindus
atheists
Satan
public education
Catholics

Planned Parenthood
Japanese cars
history
federal government
hippies
herpes
North Korea
The French
poor people
high-speed internet
vegans
rattlesnakes
science
fire ants
Louisiana
Mr. Pibb
Obviously, the list is incomplete so I'd ask other posters to please contribute other, more appropriate things for williamssl to grimace and
shake his fist at.

I feel it sometimes becomes too concentrated on single issues, and people forget that there are individual topics for shit like Ho and
Fucktard's relationship.
Debating is fine, but the thread is 80% debating, 5% rumors, and 15 percent Japanese gonzo, because that's just what I see when I'm on the
internet.
Fuck you, that's why.

Honestly, I mostly felt like things are fine but the explosion of LOLTROLL that this has erupted actually makes me wish we were a little moderated. I
won't lie, I HAVE thought about stopping coming here on a few occasions due to some of this shit.
I find it even more frustrating because a lot of the guys who do it are actually smart and can post thoughtful and interesting things. But they get
their pickles tickled with juvenile bullshit (and hey, I don't mind some juvenile bullshit, even engage in it myself but I have a tolerance and
it gets exceeded here, often).
And yeah, sometimes I snap and tell them to STFU. Which only makes their little wangs harder.
So, I dunno. I don't have a solution. But I can't pretend it isn't a problem.

Keep in mind though that us goof-offs are providing a lot of the traffic for this site, which has easily lost half it's active contributors
compared to ten years ago. That's not asking for some kind of a pat on the back "good job, guys!" reaction, that's just pointing out
that without us (gif-barrages and trainwrecks or not) it would be a hell of a lot quieter than it already is, and maybe quiet enough to the extent
that Rick will one day say to hell with it altogether.

I feel like the Rumor thread is actually what drives traffic on the board. I agree with the others that mentioned they arent going to waste their
time with a 4 reply post. I dont post often but thats more to do with the culture of the site. Once Rick stopped being involved in anything more
than a Raw/SD/PPV preview the only thing with enough content to make coming back to the site worth the time is the Rumor thread.

I was only really speaking for myself. Maybe all that stuff is the major traffic on the site now, but that's a bad trend to me because if it is,
then the place is going to become a place I don't want to come to anymore. Which sucks, because, while I've grown more active in the last
five years largely due to having more free time, I've been posting here on and off, for over a decade and reading Rick's stuff since 97 or
so.
It's not like it's just here. Lots of internet spaces get like this anymore. I just actually care about it here. Which I know isn't
cool, I'm supposed to be unaffected and laugh everything off and be above it all and not take it seriously because...I dunno why, but that seems
to be what's always expected whenever I dare to express a fucking concern.

Personally, I don't mind the chaos, because it keeps us from taking all this crap too seriously.
Yes, I can debate wrestling as collaborative performance art, looking at it for the moralistic tales told about evil and good, or even not-nice and
kinda-decent. But should I really take a bunch of dudes 'n' ladies grappling for ratings and merch sales that seriously?
If the genre took itself more seriously, I think I'd be okay with this devolving into wankermania where we hand out snowflakes for every single
match as we delve into the nuances of armbars and anklelocks. As it is, if they can't be arsed to take themselves seriously, I think it's
fitting that we don't take ourselves too seriously either.
Though I can -completly- understand why people are slightly afraid of the status quo. It's A Trap has become somewhat of a motto in these
parts, but at least now I am relatively sure I'm not going to get goatse'd when I click on those aforementioned traps. I'm glad
those days are over, or mostly-over.

I'm not so hot with the "computers" stuff, so I don't know how much work it is... but maybe as a trial it might be worth combining a few
of the sub forums which might spike a bit more activity... Maybe lump music, tech, and movies all into one with a few sticky's... maybe someone
see's something in there about movies or TV and some musical thread might catch their eye in a forum where they may not normally wander into.
What does this have to do with the rumours thread? I actually like the rumours thread; it can get kinda congested and some stuff can get buried
because of it, but it is one of the more active threads.... which is a good thing, but because it is catch all you spend so much time sifting through
it that you get a bit spent to wander elsewhere sometimes... maybe if all wrestling related topics were put into one subforum (news, past stuff,
divas) it might diversify the forum a bit and inject some attention to other stuff...
The other thing we could do is look at breaking up the news and rumour thread; either break it down into actual news thread (which maybe could just
consist of the story, and then links to other threads for discussion) and a rumours thread.
Without Mods it would be a bit tough to do; but maybe a rule banning either excessive quoting just to add a and no commentary/response, and
random comedy GIFS (this would exclude something like say the recent almost Cena injury as that is relevant)... sorry Janerd, lol. This might help
streamline it and keep it on topic a bit more.
Overall I think we are just in a lull right now... you've got some newer posters dominating things (which is good), a lot of the old crowd
drifting off (which is bad), a million different wrestling news sources (when I first started following Rick on Wrestline the only other major sites
were wrestlezone and Apter), and the WWE is doing a damned good job of either exposing things themselves, not being terribly news worthy, or topics
like Roman Reigns have almost been talked out.... maybe not to the level of puking on his cat that Streak talk once caused dear William, but
it's getting there some days.

We do have the rule against multiple quotes in the Rules section, which is like an Egyptian tomb because no one ever goes in there anymore.
I suggest a scout's honour thing if the gif-ization is causing all that much trouble, like promising to include no more than one gif included
per post. That should help out our brethren that have older computers or poor wi-fi for their phones. Save the multiple gif-ing for whatever kind of
British public schools-level of feggatry you degenerate queerbots are up to in your spare time with all the filthy and degrading PM's
you're sending back and forth to each other.

It's been interesting reading everyone's takes on the rumor thread. Part of my reason for posting less is tied to what Crunk said in his
original post. The Enzo thing stands out because that's definitely a thread I would have clicked on, but I'm not going to search back
through 8 pages of the rumor thread to see where that discussion started to see if my opinion was similar to another's and worth taking time to
write.
I think we all agree that without new topics, the board looks a little empty at times. I'll scan through the list and if nothing has changed,
I'll just move on. I mostly comment on event threads anyway, so maybe I'm not the best one to comment, but I have done this like 1,200
times.
That said, the board is pretty active all things considered. I don't mean any disrespect to Rick or anything, but it's going to be pretty
hard to drive new users and get more eyes on the board without the front page being updated. If you clicked through to the front page, would you even
bother checking the forum for a site that hasn't updated in a year? I wouldn't. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt it.
I guess if I had to come to a conclusion, I'd say that the rumor thread needs to be mainly tweaked. Not every topic that spawns a flurry of
comments needs to be spun out into it's own post, but when it's something that's newsworthy, like the Enzo situation definitely was,
then it should be it's own thread with the discussion funneled that way instead of having two different threads of people discussing it. It
would be dumb to kill the most popular thread on the board, but it seems like it would draw more of us in if there were more current event topics to
talk about. Someone brought that up and I 100% agreed with it. The sticky posts should come down by Friday so if you check during the weekend, you get
all the posts people are talking about instead of dead posts for Raw and SD.

Just like the state the rest of the world is in these days, things have just gotten too extreme one way or another.
Heck, I remember a time 'round these here parts when folk could tell another fella his wife resembled a horse. And everyone had a good laugh
leading to a trainwreck or two. Now, if we tried to do that, some people would get overly offended and make a big stink about it. Before you know
it, we'd all end up in sensitivity training, the offending party would have to meet with Seabiscuit for a public apology and even after all
that, we'd still have the Horse Lives Matter group up our asses.
Of course on the other end, you've got stuff posted from a lot of people that's so completely nuts, if David Lynch and Hunter S. Thompson
had a baby, that baby would be named Janerd's Post History*.
*Don't think we aren't on to you. We know you're really [NAME REDACTED]. Come on, now. Florida resident, posts some insanely
worded shit, relishes in getting people to click on filthy hidden links. The evidence is too overwhelming.
Pretty soon, everything gets too divisive, and you've got people threatening to hop the border and take up residence at Pun's House (is
that still a thing?). While others begrudgingly stick around, like Paige after she accidently serves Alberto his supper cold.
They should still kill themselves, by the way. Oh gosh, did I mean that literally!? Yes. No. Mabey.
But like Flash just said... we're all here to have fun and discuss this silly little thing we call wrestling. Emphasis on silly. Look,
I'll admit that what brought me to OO in the first place (back in 2004 holy goddamn wtf) was that it was full of smarty pants types, unlike the
fucking Wild West that existed on other message boards. But still, when it comes down to it, the whole reason we're here is to talk about
wrestling. Wrestling! A television program which, for the most part, if our friends or loved ones caught us watching it, our initial instinct would
likely be similar if those same people just walked in on us masturbating.
But I've gone off the rails a bit. The rumor thread is a paradox for me. I love it sometimes and sometimes I think, "this is stupid." But
hey, what can you do?
In conclusion, OO is a land of contrasts. Thank you.
Is everyone mad here?
Of course they are, and you are too... otherwise, you wouldn't have come here.
