I'm doing pro wrestling training.

After 8 classes, I'm liking it.

My roll-throughs are good on all sides.

My European uppercuts are legit.

I have a mean sliding lariat.

I am ok at chain wrestling.

I can execute a proper bodyslam on a 100kg fellow (and his assist makes him feel light as a feather)

I'm natural at taking back bumps.

I can hit the ropes with good technique.

My headlock takedown is dog shit.

I plan on doing it until I have a few matches under my belt.

That's cool. If you ever need an obnoxiously loud and untrained fat guy from New Jersey to yell things in your corner lemme know.

How old are you, Cam?

I am finding that any impact sports are now very difficult for me in my late 40s. The ground is so much harder than it used to be and it takes longer to get up.

Wrestling in China? Maybe you'll get the chance to spar with future WWE Hall of Famer, Ho Ho Lun.

I'm with bopol on the age thing. Now that I'm in my 40's I cringe harder and even tend to "feel" the bumps I see wrestlers take more than I ever did before. I'm hoping you're only in your early to mid thirties taking those bumps. If you're older than that then I need you to send me a kilo of whatever flavor of ground-up dried tiger dicks you're snorting over there to help you do all that shit in the ring without dying.

I am 30.

A good friend of mine here, who I have known for 13 years, is the owner of MKW, Middle Kingdom Wrestling, which I even did commentator for under the guise of Cam Ferguson.

I propose the following challenge: You're not "allowed" to quit until you can outheadlock Randy F. Orton. ^_^ And that's not an unattainable goal, really, so I think you should enlist your fellow students in a humorous fashion. Like "guys! Is this headlock better or worse than Randy Orton's? Worse? Crap. Okay, let's keep working headlocks!" etc.

My trainers are a man named Tommy Tamati from New Zealand and Gabrielle Martini out of Italy.

They don't seem to care for Orton as they never reference him.

Maybe I can turn them into fans.

And then tell Dom all about it

Awesome and good for you. That's something I would love to do, or at least would have loved to do. Just go through the training. There was a tv series in early/mid 2000's called the Benefactor with Marc Cuban. Kind of an Apprentice rip-off. Anyway, one of the episodes, which were based in Dallas, had people get a bunch of money and they had to use it to go fulfill a dream or something. I remember thinking...if I were on that show I'd totally go get trained in pro wrestling.

Now...like many others have stated about themselves...I'm in my 40's and just don't think my body has it in it. I'm in shape but....just too much fragility. I end up at the chiropractor far too often for my tastes.

Keep us posted on how you progress and if you do any state-side indy circuits.

Yeah that's pretty awesome. I went to one class, once, when I was 24... and that was it for me. Good luck with it all.

Is everyone mad here?
Of course they are, and you are too... otherwise, you wouldn't have come here.

Seriously, best of luck to you. Echoing Tex, I bet most of us would love to try what you're doing. Just don't turn into Enzo!

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?

There's a lucha-based school here in the Seattle area that I thought about joining to get myself in shape. Problem is, I'm freaking 41, and already pretty unathletic - I'm pretty sure my body couldn't handle it.

Good luck and have a blast!

As somebody who is also almost-40 and likes wrestling enough to muse about participation... Something I suggest to people in my situation who ARE near a wrasslin' school? Ask them if they train refs. I'm pretty sure Earl Hebner was gainfully employed until ... Maybe even still? He was in Impact Wrasslin' rings, so I figure he's the GFW Head Ref nowadays?

Anyway, my point is: it takes 3 guys in the ring to have a match, and for those of us who can't be the active 2, there's always Zebra-ing.

For what it's worth, a long shot at best, if I reach my goal of losing 100 pounds this year I'll consider giving it a try. I'm down 65 since January so only another 35 to go. At 36 it's shit or get off the pot time and I'm rapidly getting my athleticism back. If I'm 204 at Christmas it's on.

There's this new site called YouTube. Try uploading the videos to that and post links here.

If YouTube has issues in China, maybe try Streamable.

That's my over-the-shoulder hammerlock gut buster

I'm uploading more as we speak, but just keep a few things in mind:

-We are training in a boxing ring since we don't have any place to set up our actual wrestling ring at the moment.
-We need to use those pads for harder stuff since the boxing ring is hard as fuck. There is literally no give to that thing.
-This is just me and my training partner messing around. It's not meant to be something to judge with a harsh tone. It's just me after a month of training.
