OOfficial Discussion Thread for: NXT 2018

I probably should have gotten to this earlier, but NXT talk really does seem to ebb and flow according the the Takeover specials, one of which is finally happening this weekend.

So with Cien vs. Gargano as the main event, are we all just assuming this is pretext for Ciampa, and if so, as a NXT Title feud or as a side piece for New Orleans?

With Moon vs. Shayna for the Women's Title, do we look for any hints about the women's Rumble/4 Horsewomen, or has this ship sailed, and Bayszler is doing her own for-real thing in NXT while Rousey gets the hot shot main roster spot for herself?

Other stuff: they really should come up with something for the Velveteen Dream to do, because the kid is getting it to an insane degree.... tons of potential for surprise debuts, depending on who may or may not be deemed worthy of jumping straight to the main roster.... Cole/Black is probably something others care about more than me, but it also won't suck.... tag titles also on the line, but I think this is the third Takeover in a row where we're just using up AoP before the main roster needs a new team....

I'll leave the discussion in your capable hands, OO Nation.... at least until Saturday night, when I'm sure I'll have plenty to say again.

Rick

PS: Oh, and it goes without saying that if you're motivated to do so "Lucha Underground 2018" and/or "TNA 2018" threads will get stickied if somebody starts them at the appropriate time. For TNA, that could be tomorrow, technically, though I know LU's Season 4 is still in flux.

I would prefer it to happen as a side-piece. I think you could build a stronger and more meaningful card that way as Gargano vs. Ciampa would already have enough heat to stand on its own.

Besides, Gargano strikes me as a pretty weak choice for NXT Champion. On the other hand, Aleister Black has a very strong following and with the way he's been booked to be unbeatable, I think it only makes sense to have him challenge for the title during Wrestlemania weekend. Also, considering that the roster seems heavily slanted towards strong heel characters at the moment, moving the title over to a dominant face seems like the smarter move. I may be in the minority, but I think watching the underdog babyface scrape by a revolving door of stronger heels would quickly become boring.

I was hoping the same, and now the poor guys got Kassious Ohno.

I'm sold on him as a big star already but if he pulls a good match out of Ohno I'll be amazed.

I think Samoa Joe is nailing his role in this preshow.....they should give him a chance in the future to do some color commentating.

So I have seen Ohno now only a few times.... I don't think he will transition well whenever he goes to the WWE roster. He really doesn't stand out...in my opinion.

Velveteen however looks like a future IC champion.

This match though ...was meh

Guess not.....but I still think WWE roster needs someone like Shayna.... someone who looks like they give 2 craps about you. She would be a good foil for alot of the women on the roster.

I wish NXT would do a lot more of the WWE's (I don't recap recaps). I don't know who any of these people are.

Probably the best Ember Moon has looked in my limited exposure to her. Shayna probably should have gone over. If Rhonda is coming, her uniqueness will be short lived.

Shayna's not good enough to be at the top of a division yet. She's a great heel but she doesn't have the ability to make people look better yet. She's still learning a lot about wrestling since she hasn't been doing it all that long. I'm not the biggest Ember fan, but she needed that win a lot more than Baszler did. With all the ass-kissing Baszler got at the Mae Young Classic it was almost like she was the second coming. The division could be really deep right now if they gave people like Peyton, Belair, Billie, Laith, and about 4 others a chance.

That moonsault into the kendo stick....man you got to have alot of trust to let someone time that to hit you in the belly....if thats just a little off..... your balls are in the front row. Takes alot of nerve to allow Cole to do that.

OK. Cole and Black are both awesome. I hope they are both "big" enough to make it in The WWE.

I know Im a jerk for saying this, but this match didn't really have any story to it....it was just spot ....spot....spot....with that said the spots were great, but I think it lacked in ring psychology.

I tuned in tonight solely to see Black/Cole, since I've seen clips of both and wanted to see the fuss. I think I'm satisfied. Any time you can Tony Jaa a guy through a table, I think you've accomplished something never accomplished before.

Black and Cole are going to be super duper stars. Cole has so much young Jericho in him its crazy and, well shit, Black is just a complete bad ass.

And now its time to watch Gargano put on a clinic. Just a great show. The future is bright.

I really want Gargano to lose a 25 minute classic so I can watch him for 58 minutes in the Rumble tomorrow.
