You're forgetting this is the same guy who tore his quad walking across the ring. If Nash is on his feet, his quads are at risk.

I still think the reaction is a work, WWE's devalued the "dreaded X sign" with so many times that it wasn't legit to the point where I don't pay it any more than the slightest bit of attention when it does go up. But if it is legit, it's hardly shocking.

Here's hoping Cole's voice stays lost for about twenty years or so

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that they received several fan reports regarding signs being taken away at the WWE Night Of Champions PPV. We can also confirm through fans sending us reports that this was going on.

Some of the signs read:

"Wish Benoit was here"
"Michael Cole equals low ratings"
"WWE owns UFC"

OK, which one of you brought the Benoit sign?

EDIT - And an update on the Kevin Nash "injury":

quote:
Last night, we posted an exclusive on Kevin Nash not being at RAW tonight. In an update to that story, according to sources, Nash is believed by many to be headed to Los Angeles, California today to begin filming for the movie "Magic Mike."

Additionally, other online reports have speculated that Nash was injured last night at Night Of Champions. It appears these reports are false. From talking to people backstage at Night Of Champions, Nash was selling the sledgehammer shot he got from Triple H. The selling of the sledgehammer hit to the head will in part explain him not being at RAW tonight in Cleveland, Ohio.

Hence, if you come to Manchester with a United shirt on, you may as well come to Raw with a t-shirt of Hitler getting a rimjob from the Queen and blowjob from Richard the Lionheart. ~Devineman 07/12/2011

Opening of the show: Meh. It was all right. Air BOOM~! going over Miz/Truth made sense since they're still relatively new. I hope they continue to carry the ball with Miz/Truth for a while though, but I agree with a previous poster than Miz/Morrison would be far better.

IC Title: Decent match. Everytime I look at Rhodes though, I really wish they would have went "Phantom of the Opera" with him and given him a solid white mask instead of a clear one, which would make de-maskings more of a surprise.

US Title: Damn good. Furthering the tension between Swagger and Ziggler works for me. Getting Vicky's man's win more "exposure" keeps the possibilities of a bigger stable open.

World Heavyweight Title: I liked it, even if for nothing more than to watch Orton lose clean and Henry to swat the RKO away. Henry is a lot better when he has intensity, as in his post-match promo, rather than trying to be a quiet, brooding, big man.

Divas Title: Yes, this is WWE and mostly everything's a work. Yes, the smaller competitors get wins over much bigger ones all the time. But this one left me shaking my head. Beth loses TWICE, despite being the clearly superior athlete and worker AND being the hometown girl. Instead, they keep the bedazzle title on Ms. Faketan McHairextensions. Hopefully this story keeps on going to build to an eventual win for Beth OR Nattie.

WWE Title: Cena's a legitimately great guy, but I have a hard time being interested when he's on my screen so I really skipped this one. The "tee-hee" promo before the match wasn't very interesting either. I was hoping that Rodriguez would've refused to do the ring announcing for him after Del Rio roughed him up, but I guess that's in due time. Though I hate Cena as champ, AGAIN, I got a very odd sense of schadenfreude to see the smarks bet on Del Rio winning only to be proven wrong.

Punk/HHH: Here's my take on the confusion and overbooking. Miz/Truth are obviously trying to quash the 'conspiracy' and remove HHH as COO. After HHH/Punk attack Miz/Truth, Truth lets his ego get the better of him and denies Punk the win. Laurinitis calls a ref down, but when HHH is about to win, he redirects the ref to check on the other ref. When Punk is certain to win, Johnny quickly sends the ref into the ring, also wanting HHH removed as COO. He then sends Nash a text and has him come on down to clean house. At least that's how I saw it. HHH winning actually works a lot better for me because I'm really anticipating HHH to rain hell down on Miz, Truth, Nash and Laurinitis. Because of how insane the beatdowns were, Punk doesn't come off as the weaker one here and a loss means nothing. All people are going to remember from the match is Punk's insane flying elbow.

TheGuest: That annoying chat dude.

[TheGuest] That's great, they kick him all over his torso and head and what does he sell? His knee.

* I thought the "If ____ Loses We Riot" signs were jumping the shark, but I got a chuckle out of "If Phoenix Loses We Riot."

* I don't know why, but seeing a career jobber like Mark Henry beat Randy Orton clean 1-2-3 for the World Title after blocking an RKOOON (RKO Out Of Nowhere) gave be a warm fuzzy feeling. And I think I've just unintentionally coined a phrase. I think I'm going start calling Randall's finisher "The Raccoon," if for no other reason than because I think he might be a rabies carrier and the only way he's stayed viable for so long is that he threatens to bite anyone who fires him.

*Cena and Del Rio was really enjoyable. A shame the crowd was so dead for it. I'm wearing thin on the Let's Go Cena/Cena Sucks thing. It's like fans are more excited to chant that than they are watching the actual match. Yeah, you can do that, but cheer when the guy you're rooting for executes a big move, too. ADR's shoulder steel post shot was the sickest I've ever heard. And the fact that he can do a top rope flash kick and a senton back splash at his size is crazy.

* Punk was really buried there, wasn't he... in a PPV Main Event against a future Hall of Famer. The slingshot to the LED board was cool and creative. And when Lawler described Punk's elbow through the table with, "That was savage," all I could think was "Amen, brother."

Begin Rant (and rants can be good things)

The whole Miz/Truth/Ace/Nash intervention in the match was absolutely brilliant. So many machinations in play, it was like someone wrote an episode of "24" for a wrestling match. OK, let me explain some things for the confused:

* Truth wanted Punk to win, but Punk just kicked his ass and tossed him out of the ring on top of the referee, that's why he broke up the pin, just to get in some more shots on Punk.

* Ace and Nash have been in cahoots all along. When Nash was fired, Ace got in the limo with him.

* Nash hates HHH for firing him and hates Punk because the two have been sniping at each other for weeks. Punk wanted to fight Nash more in the first place and still thinks he's chummy with HHH regardless of the firing, so he wanted to get in his shots, too.

All that stuff aside, here's the bottom line. When HHH got back in the ring after hitting Nash with the sledgehammer, nobody in the world knew what was going to happen next, save the three guys in the ring. That's how wrestling should be. And even after HHH got the pin, there are obviously so many questions to be answered. They actually did it. They hit a triple (those of you who remember an earlier post of mine get that), and quite frankly, I can't wait to see what happens next.

And for those of you who have come on here and said something to the effect of, "Boy, I'm glad I didn't see it, sounds like WWE sucked the big one again," all of you can shut up. I know, it's the incurable condition called, "Being A Cynical Asshole," but just as those who didn't vote have no right to bitch about who's running the country, you have no right to comment on something you didn't see and just assume it sucked. It's like saying how bad the quarterback played without ever watching the game. Did you see if the line protected him? Did you see the receivers getting open? Did you know the score or the down and distance? "No, I just hate him 'cause he sucks." If you want to comment on how somebody performed without actually seeing the performance then you're an even bigger diptard than Randy Orton.

End Rant (and rants can also be bad things)

Addendum: Cole losing his voice was HILARIOUS!

I enjoyed the show, overall.

Tag match was fun, and with the HIAC PPV just TWO episodes of Raw away (FOR FUCKS SAKE, WWE!!), they need some feuds to just carry on for a while.

Rhodes seemed to be less concerned about his mask after the match. I'm curious as to why nobody hasn't pointed out that his mask is see-through, and therefore does not stop us seeing his ugly mush.

I enjoyed the WHC match. I'm really glad Henry won, and hope he's champ until TLC or Rumble. I've always been a bigger fan of the face chasing the heel champ.

Divas match - I was suprised how good it was. KK is sloppy at times but has a very impressive moveset. Only problem is that Beth has nowhere to go now -maybe it'll now be Natalya's turn to try and take the belt away.

Punk/HHH - Punk was never going to win first time around. He now has the ammo to bring in back up of his own, claiming that even when HHH fires Nash, they still somehow end up screwing him.

I'm guessing if HHH is going to keep his wrestling sporadic, he can say that he respects that Punk kept trying to do the right thing last night in keeping it a fair fight, so he's putting him in the WWE Title match at HIAC.

Or we get HHH/Punk 2 there, where nobody can interfere. I think there's usually three HIAC matches on these shows, I guess 2 of them will be from Raw, so it should be HHH/Punk to keep the interference out, Tag Title Match to open the show again, and Orton/Henry/Sheamus/Christian. Leave ADR and Cena out of the cell, they have no reason to need that stip.

I noticed the Raw GM Stand was back. Or did it never leave?

Man, if only Shelton Benjamin had Henry's "angry black man" mic skills, couple that with his tremendous in-ring ability, Shelton would've been a World Champion 10-times over.

Beth Phoenix was genuinely overwhelmed by the reaction she got from her hometown, like she almost didn't want to lose. If only the powers-that-be in the back had called an audible and had Beth win the Divas Championship as a last-minute decision change, the arena would've exloded.

Also, recognizing the crowd reaction, Kelly and Beth should've done a Rock-Hogan from WM18-eque face/heel-character switch, but I don't blame them if they don't have the "wrestling maturity" to do that.

Cena acknowledging his "vintage 1990s jorts" during his pre-match intro was funny. The rest, not so much. And Cena winning (12-time World Champ now, according to Cole), well, fuck that noise.

Am I the only one amused by Christian's running schtick of asking for "one more match" each and every time he's on TV? It's a freaking PPV, and he's still bitching about his shot!

The Buffalo crowd was great, for the most part of the night. Kudos.

I think she just realized, "Oh, my God. I'm this hot and I've been cheering for a guy who just lost to Mark F. Henry?!?"

We all wish Benoit was here. And Nancy and Daniel, too, for that matter. Can you imagine a four corners HIAC match with Punk, Cena, ADR and Benoit?
