Mr. Biz Markie covers Sir Elton John on Chris Rock's old HBO talk show. It's better and worse than you can possibly imagine all at the
same time.

Grinderman (Nick Cave side project) video for "No Pussy Blues". Lyrics are obviously NSFW. Music is obviously NSFP.

Had this very fun, dance-worthy trio of tracks come up back-to-back-to-back on shuffle in the car this morning. Yay Friday!

Latest Duran Duran, co-written and produced by Justin Timberlake.
I know DD doesn't float everyone's boat, and when the rumored collaboration was first announced, there was a lot of negative speculation.
I sure the hell wasn't excited. This drove their guitarist to quit the band.
However, ths song (and video) is actually very positive.
I was in NY this week as caught their rescheduled Broadway show Tuesday night.

He quit the band rather than work with Timberlake or because of people's reactions to their workings with Timberlake?

I laughed my ass off watching that video. I'm trying to figure out if the comedy is intentional or not. Either Snoop is a mad genius or he
smokes way too much ganja.
Tex, I think the new Duran Duran song w/ Justin is pretty good. I'm pretty sure Andy Taylor (I think he's the one that left) didn't
leave because of Justin's involvement. From what I've read, they recorded something like 15 songs with Andy, then he decided to leave,
and they scrapped the project and then decided to start over, by going with Timbaland to produce some songs. (I could be completely wrong about the
timeline, but that's what I thought it was) The video you posted is the one (or one of two) songs that Justin's involved with.
Shit, if I was Andy and I heard they were working with Justin, I'd come crawling back. Or if your timeline is right, then I don't
understand why he'd opt out. Justin is fucking money!

Thai -
There are various versions of stories out there but the common thread seems to center on the 2003 Video Music Awards where the connection with
Timbaland and Timberlake happened and started the discussions towards colalboration and the like.
Then the decision to scrap the music that had already been written and some partially recorded that was more "New Romantic" Duran Duran a la their
first album.
There had already been some creative friction within the band / management but the scrap/new direction seem to have been the tipping point.
Was it the fact that it was Timberlake and/or Timberland?
Was it the scrapping?
Was it the new direction?
Or some combo of it all?
Probably the latter. You damn musical creative types....
I don't like Timberlake at all, but as you mention, he's money. There are 2 colloaboration songs on Red Carpet Massacre - Falling Down
(video several posts above), which is good, and Night Runner, which I think sucks a lot. But it'll prob have that Justin magic and do stuff on
the charts that makes me scratch my head.

The new Type O Negative video, "September Sun." They are still around and still awesome. And, interestingly enough, this video is anti-suicide.
And it's coming from Peter Steele, a man who once sang, "Suicide is self-expression."

As a huge Karate Kid fan, that video is awesome. And it appears that William Zabka and Ralph Machio (aka Johnny and Daniel) indeed do not seem to
age.
Though I will say that Alien Ant Farm already parodied the Karate Kid, along with some other movies, back in 2001 with their video for "Movies"
(which includes a Mr. Miyagi cameo).

Allison Krauss.
Alone either is great. Together - amazing.
Raising Sand came out last year and I don't know why it took me until now to give it a listen to and buy it. Great disc.
