OKlahoma #1 in the first BCS standings? Really? And kind of comfortably?
I get that it's the first cycle of these, and that things change. And I don't mean to turn this into a playoff discussion.
I'm just kind of surprised at what I'm seeing. Biggest questions are on the computer polls, where:
LSU sits at a #2 average and is 1st in two of them.
Oregon is at #8 with one #2 rating and the rest 7 or higher
Stanford (my alma mater), despite losing rather handily to Oregon, is still ranked higher than Oregon in one of the computer polls and 1-2 behind them
in two others....
At least when you make sausage....while you don't want to know what the ingredients are or how it gets made...the output is super yummy.
Here.....crap in...crap out.

So Auburn leapfrogs Oregon and Boise to become the new #1 in the BCS poll? I'm going to have a rant about this later on, but at this point does
anyone buy into Boise getting an honest shot anymore?

I think everyone knew that Boise's schedule was going to hurt them, and that they'd need help from people above them losing. As for
Auburn jumping Oregon and Boise, that's not really too surprising. They beat a fellow unbeaten and top-10 team, making them 4-0 against top-25
teams. Oregon has beaten one top-25 team, Stanford. Boise has beaten the same number as Oregon.
I think it absolutely sucks that people won't play Boise, but I also think its reasonable to give undefeated teams from better conferences with
tougher schedules a higher ranking. Now if a one-loss team ends up ahead of Boise, then we've got a serious problem.

I have no problems with Auburn jumping Oregon and Boise. Like it was already said, they've played a real legit schedule (albeit home-heavy) and
have defeated Arkansas and LSU the last two weeks. Those are big wins.
And as a fan of a team that is somehow in the hunt, I'd be pretty upset if a Boise, Utah or TCU were ranked ahead of MSU considering
schedules/competition.

Yeah Gimmick, the Big Ten outside of MSU and OSU (who you don't play this year) is a murderer's row if I've ever seen one. Tell us
more about how beating Illinois, Minnesota, and Purdue should leapfrog you over a team that's been getting fucked over for five consecutive
seasons*.
*To be fair, the win over Wisconsin is impressive, and if you beat Iowa, you'll have beat the same amount of good teams as Boise, so I'll
respect your argument, but with all due respect I'm not going to listen to any fans of Michigan State sing sad songs about how they didn't
get their due because of an undefeated Boise, TCU, and/or Utah, given the events of the last few seasons. I'm sure you understand my position on
this.

I think Boise St needs TCU to lose this weekend because a win over a top 5 team would probably solidify the Frogs over the Broncos. Oregon still has
games against Arizona and Oregon St and Auburn still has Alabama so either of those two could very well lose their big rivalry game. I think if both
of the top 2 teams lose one of the non AQ teams would get a chance to play for the title, probably against a 1 loss SEC champion but I don't see
any scenario where both Boise and TCU get a shot at the title. How often has that been said about the number 3 and 4 teams in the country?
Oh, and as an alum of a Mountain West school, can someone explain how the damn Big East is a BCS conference? I know that back when this mess started
they had to include them to get Miami, but isn't it time to reevaluate that?
Have you noticed that in every group of people there is a guy who just knows shit? He has no explanation for how he knows it or any reason to know
it, he just knows shit. Be careful around that guy, he is thinking of ways to kill you.

Dear ESPN:
Can we please lay off the "BCS Buster Alert" and "Upset Alert" OMG!!!! hyperbole.
Yes TCU and Auburn are both losing at the moment, but it's the first quarter. I appreciate you breaking into games you are broadcasting to give
me score updates for games that are more relevant and important than the Virginia Tech/North Carolnia crap you're serving me right now.
But I don't need to hear you get all worked up and talk about the potential implications of this if things continue for the remaining 45+
minutes left in the game. It's a little too early and too much.
EDIT: I got distracted and now TCU is no longer losing. So back to sentence one...

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the hullaballoo surrounding Cam Newton. Of course, my guess is that the NCAA is going to drag its feet on
the investigation until after the bowls - hoping that things continue on their current paths. That way, if something is found/confirmed, then
they won't be forced into putting TCU or Boise State into the championship game.

Yeah, it kinda seems like Boise State is one of those schools all the other teams know is good, yet they're trying to go out of their way
to fuck them over because they don't want to play them, lose, and look bad because they lost to a team from a "lower class" (and at the same
time, they want to keep them out of the I-A class because, heck, their stadium doesn't seat anywhere close to 60,000 people).
I kept hoping all season that the teams of Boise State would lose, but they do, and then the NCAA or the BCS or whoever just jump another team ahead
of them. Every other team in college football could have 2-3 losses and the NCAA would still find a way to fuck Boise over.

Exciting football (extended) weekend coming up. Traditional rivalry weekend...I think. What happened to the good old days when rivalry weekend
was...one weekend. Rivalry games seem to span 3 weeks these days. Flibbeldy floo!
Ohio State/Michigan. Florida/Florida State. Etc.
All eyes will be on the Alabama/Auburn game for obvious reasons. I'm hoping Alabama wins to clear the way for Boise or TCU to go to the
championship, thereby clearing the Rose Bowl to pick Stanford, assuming my boys take care of business vs. Oregon State on Saturday to finish with one
loss...to #1 Oregon.
And lastly...my Longhorns look to become the first team to go to a BCS bowl in one year and not even make a bowl the next!

I think it's adorable that you think an undefeated Boise or TCU gets in the National Championship game over a 1 loss Auburn.
Maybe if Auburn loses to Bama and then to South Carolina in the SEC championship game, but even then "well by God LSU is a 1-loss SEC team,
never mind that they didn't win or even PLAY for the conference championship, they're a one-loss team in the by God S.E.A-NUMBER ONE AND
EVERYTHING THAT IS PERFECT AND HOLY IN FOOTBALL C., so we'll just leapfrog them into the championship game" is the most likely scenario*.
*Unless my Hogs handle their business against LSU this weekend, in which case the BCS committee will just pull in Ohio State.

I wouldn't bet on that, Chris.
Undefeated Boise and/or TCU would both be above a one loss Auburn in the Harris and USA Today polls, so there's 2/3 of the formula putting
Auburn behind them.
If you look at the BCS points after week 13, it's basically undefeated Oregon and Auburn neck
and neck, then undefeated TCU and Boise State neck and neck, then let the one loss teams begin.
Hell - I'd make an argument for one loss Stanford over one loss Auburn since we...you know....lost to #1 Never happen, but still...

LOL @ Ohio State's president's comments
Accompanying breakdown
Some great comments from Boise State's president, who fired back:
quote:
Kustra said he it was hypocritical of Ohio State and all of the major BCS conferences to demean teams like Boise State. He said most of those
conferences refuse to schedule his school.
Its easy for the presidents to talk, but ask the ADs whens the last time that they seriously entertained taking requests or inviting Boise State to
(play them), Kustra said. If youre Boise State or TCU, theyre going to want to steer way clear of you.
He said he had phone records that would prove that Boise State had tried to schedule home-and-home games with Top 25 teams from the BCS conferences,
but that they would not play the Broncos anywhere but at their home stadium.
Kustra said most teams from the power conferences follow a simple blueprint when scheduling these days.
The formula these days for BCS teams is get seven or eight home games, play one non-conference game against a team from another BCS league, schedule
three or four patsies and try not to leave the state if you can help it, he said.
He also said that the SECs Florida Gators have not left the state to play a non-conference, regular-season opponent since 1991.
Love it.

Well, the bad news is that unless South Carolina pulls off a fucking miracle (spoiler alert: they won't) Boise and TCU are buttfucked again.
The good news is that I have the comfort of knowing Nick Saban and his small army of illiterate inbred hillbillies lost 3 games this year.

The funny thing is, if this is an SEC or a Big 10 or Pac 10 or whoever team, that was ranked #4, and lost in OT to #19, no one would be pronouncing
their title hopes dead.
In any other (read: BCS) conference, this "proves" the legitimacy of the schedule. For example: Boise losing means all the LSU apologists down here
are going on and on about how this opens the door for LSU to get into the BCS Title game. Go look at LSU's schedule. Aside from Alabama, is
there one really impressive win there? Bad Florida, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt teams? A 6-5 1-AA team (McNeese)? A UNC team that was missing 10
defensive starters, but still went down to the final play? Louisiana-Monroe? It's cool though, just attach "SEC" to the schedule and it
becomes impressive. Lose to Auburn? No problem, it's just that "brutal" SEC schedule catching up with them.
But this is Boise, and their opponent was a Nevada team that's actually pretty good, but that no one will give any credit to because they
haven't gone undefeated for 3 straight years or whatever. All that matters is that it's the WAC, and for many people it'll
"prove" that Boise wasn't that good to begin with.

God, I was so torn last night with Nevada vs. Boise. On the one hand, I wanted my Wolf Pack to beat the Broncos and get Kap a share of the WAC title.
On the other hand, I felt all year that Boise possibly going to the BCS Championship would ultimately benefit the Wolf Pack in the coming years.
On a completely different note... FUCK YOU IOWA! You owe me $1,040 for blowing my parlay ticket, fucktards.

No no no. It WOULD be an awesome game. That's not really the underlying issue.
You know how Oregon vs. Auburn would be an even MORE awesome game? If it came at the end of an 8 team playoff where other worthy teams like TCU,
Wisconsin, Nebraska, and a few others got a shot, too.
And yeah, it sucks that people are just going "SEE? TOLD you Boise wasn't all that" instead of considering the possibility that maybe Nevada
is just kind of fucking good.
