I would like to thank the Dallas Cowboys performance last night to give my Giants a 2 game lead in the East, that we will need if we have any hope of holding onto the division.

I would also like to thank the Steelers for kicking the Pats ass just before they are playing my Giants, and now we have to deal with the fact that Belicheck/Brady don't lose back to back games and will be pissed off. I blame Dr. Boz.

Right now I am only seeing 4 wins in the next 9 (Jets, Dallas, Washington, San Fran) which means 9-7 and at best limping into the playoffs, most likely out. And the poor record will mean all offseason we have to hear about Coughlin needs to go because of the 2nd half collapse.

They probably won't beat the Jets.

Coughlin should go. The superbowl was great but they haven't won since. Plus, that idiot should go solely thought Eli Manning was better than Phillip Rivers and Kurt Warner. Imagine how many more superbowls they'd have won if they build around Warner, or kept Rivers and all those draft picks (which I believe turned into LT, Merriman and Kaeding). That mistake is enough to get anyone fired.

Warner was fucking horrible with the Giants. He fumbled every other snap and looked like a washed-up bum and he and his wife couldn't handle the NY media at all. The fact that he went on to have a second career season in Arizona doesn't change the fact that his career looked over while he was in NY. Remember, when he finally did go to Arizona, he was a backup to Matt Leinart because everyone thought he was done. Good riddance to him.

I'm as much an Eli-hater as anyone, but Philip Rivers hasn't won a damn thing and I don't think it'd have been any different if he was in NY either. He's had arguably more talent in every season with SD and yet he consistently underachieves.

And the Jets are horrible. If the Giants can't beat them, there's something wrong. Here's what's gonna happen, the Giants are gonna lose the next two to NE and out west in SF where they've almost never played well and people are going to start writing them off and then they're going to beat the Eagles at home on a Sunday night national game and they'll be 6-4 and in the driver's seat for a playoff home game. They'll lose to New Orleans and then they'll get an undefeated Green Bay team at home and shock the world to end that run and people will think the Giants are a legit Super Bowl contender. They they lose to Dallas and Washington and Giants fans slap their head like what the fuck happened and they'll be 7-7 before games against the Jets and Dallas. They'll beat the Jets and need a win against Dallas plus help to make the playoffs and they'll win 1 and finish 8-8. Coughlin will somehow keep his job and then we'll rinse and repeat this formula next year.

The Giants lost at home to Seattle and barely squeaked out wins against the pathetic Cardinals and more pathetic Dolphins. And they lost to Rex Grossman. So losing to the jets wouldn't be a surprise.

And you're right. Just because Warner was hof quality before and after he came to the Giants doesn't mean it was Coughlin's fault. Coughlin could have built the offense around him, but instead he chose a buy who's a constant threat to lead the league in interceptions. Some of the players (like Tiki* I think) even said so.

Eli may have decent stats, but look at the game tape! How long can he rely on the defense dropping his picks? He would be looking like a piece of garbage if it wasn't for Victor Cruz constantly making amazing catches and breaking tackles and getting tons of yards after the catch. Which is another strike against Coughlin. How did it take so long for him to recognize how great Cruz was? He probably would still be kn the bench if stone hands Manningham didn't manage to bobble a TD pass and concuss himself at the same time.

*I know Tiki isn't the best support.

Cruz makes magnificent plays, no doubt. He's also a bonehead who makes stupid plays and has a problem holding onto the ball. Eli sucks, I'm not going to argue that but Coughlin had no choice but to go with him over Warner since Warner was fucking horrible as a Giants QB. I have no idea how you can question that. And the Giants are doing what the Giants always do; playing to the level of their opponents which is why they look great against teams like the Eagles and horrible against teams like the Seahawks and Dolphins.

I just hate Manning enough to forget.how bad Warner was. But at the time, it was probably hard to see how great Warner could still be.

Coughlin is also a pussy who almost always makes overly conservative calls.

He's a Parcells student, that's a given. 3rd and 13 draws/screens worked once sometime in the 80s, so they get called all the time now. Even the genius Belichek is guilty of that playcall. Coughlin has added the horrible corner fade and bubble screen to his playbook though.

You're both right about Eli, but he'll always get a pass for beating New England and destroying their perfect season in the Super Bowl. Hell, people listen to what Trent Dilfer has to say and think he was a good quarterback because he won a Super Bowl. Eli's going to run this one to the bank for the rest of his life, and there's nothing any of us can do about it.

In other news, Tim Tebow played a good team and got worked like a Colfax hooker.

Eli is a better QB in NY than Rivers would have been. With Rivers' personality he would have combusted in the NY market. There is no way he could have handled the pressure of playing in NY. With all due respect to Salmon, but playing in SD has a ton less pressure then playing in NY. Eli has the right attitude and is the right QB for the Giants.

Living in Ohio, I don't get to watch the Giants every week, but when I can, this year, the offense seems to be klicking better when they are in their 2 minute drill and Eli is calling most of the plays, add to the fact that their running game has looked like complete shit, the Giants have relied on Eli's arm more and more, and this year, he is not making the mistakes he has in the past.

As for Cruz, wasn't he hurt most if not all of last year, so blaming Coughlin for not playing him is a little silly..

ETA: One more thing, this is the same season where the Giants were completely written off because of injuries and losses to free agency right?

Jesus Christ, how terrible is the AFC West? The Chiefs are a bad team, and they're tied for first with two very mediocre teams. And the Broncos aren't very far behind them. Maybe the Raiders can win that division with Palmer.

Wow, maybe the Giants don't want Rivers.

Everyone wrote off the Giants because all the injuries made their d terrible, which it is. They've benefited from playing the Dolphins and the NFC West, except they somehow managed to lose to Seattle.

Reading through all of the negativity about Eli in this thread made me realize I was WRONG. Maybe it was the shortened preseason that made it take a little longer, but now that Eli is comfortable with the reconfigured receiving corp he has played outstanding* for the last month or so. The G-Men still have a crap-ton of problems and it'll be a minor miracle to make the playoffs with the upcoming schedule, but for once its gonna be hard to put the blame on Eli.

*Not counting the Seattle game because the whole fucking team shit the bed on that one.

This has nothing to do with anything, but it's good to see that the Madden curse is alive and well with Peyton Hillis this season.
