Less The Rick, and the Reason Why
Sorry for not supplying details sooner, but to be honest, I've been upset by the lack of details *I* have been getting about my situation.
In short: last weekend, I got admitted to the hospital, with the ER doc telling me that a CT scan found a growth on my pancreas, and it was probably
cancer. They even transferred me to a different hospital downtown, where a surgical team was assigned to me. Then, it turned out the growth is (
probably) nothing but a pus-filled cyst, caused by an infection.
The inflammation completely blocked the bottom exit of my stomach, so it started filling up with bile, which only made the infection worse. So I got a
tube down my nose, sucking the junk out of my stomach, and I've been getting all my food through an IV for a week. Even in the absence of
cancer, dealing with the pancreas is apparently tricky business, and surgery is to be avoided, if possible. I'm stuck in an endless cycle of
tests, waiting,, and more tests, all while connected to eleventy billion tubes and wires. So the prospects formy short-term return to full OO duties
aren't great.
But anyone thinking this is the end of OO can rest assured that ain't happening. BIlls will be paid, and no matter how miserable I am, and how
uncertain my exact diagnosis/recovery, I'll get my laptop delivered to me, so I can at least do OO maintenance (currently, I'm doing this
from my Mobile Device, which isn't equipped for webmastering) starting in the next couple days.
Thanks for bearing with me...
Rick

You're in my thoughts Rick, for as absolutely no good as that does. Get well soon.
Is there any chance this cyst manifested itself just because Kaitlyn left? When My Melina was released, I'm pretty sure my body started
rejecting everything.

Get well soon, Rick. Hopefully it's just the infection the second team of doctors mentioned and this all becomes just a scare-of-a-lifetime
thing for you.
You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know,
that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but
I'm not high. You know what I mean?

This is eerily similar to a situation that happened in my family this week. It's my dad, though, not me, and we're not sure if ... Well,
we're not sure what's what. So, like, rest up while you've got the chance, and know that people are getting through this same thing
as it happens to you. We're not literally "with you", but we're with you. At times like these, I hope it helps to know you're
not alone.

These are my sentiments as well. May the forces conspiring against the well-being of The Almighty Rick be struck down in a violent death reminiscent

I hope you get better ASAP, Rick.
Just to make you feel better, just know that THIS is the reason I started following this site.
I went to this RAW, and it was the first RAW I had been to since 1998 in Baltimore.
Man, did I feel your exact sentiments on that show. I'll never forget the utter confusion amongst my section when Orton claimed that La
Resistance was going to challenge Regal and Eugene for the World HEAVYWEIGHT Championship
Also, just in case WWE was ever wondering (and cares to read this site), I remember being in that line before the doors opened, and everyone, and I
mean EVERYONE was pumped for that battle royal. That was all people could talk about, and how Triple H had no chance of retaining.
Man, they sure fucked that up.
Thanks for rekindling those good memories of reading that recap.

It has not been the best week for The Me.
While it is massively important to note that I do note have "pancreatic cancer" -- the standard ends-in-'noma" kind that is horrible and will
kill you -- it's now highly probable that I do in fact have cancer on my pancreas.
It's just that they have no idea what exact kind of tumor it is (other than having ruled out the cancer-y "-noma" kind as of today). There had
been a working assumption all week that it was a neuro-endocrine tumor (downright easy to deal with, as tumors go), but so far, all the markers
they've shot me up with for NET and spindle cells and every other known type of tumor have come up empty. This doesn't disqualify any of
those from being the guilty party, however, since the markers aren't foolproof, and my screwed up nutrition means my body just may not have
absorbed/taken the markers.
Bottom line: there will be a significant surgery on a less-than-death-warrant tumor, which may or may not require chemo as follow up. I'm
adequate freaked out by the whole thing, but on the upside, I should be going home no later than Monday. I had a minor surgery on Wednesday to install
some plumbing in my stomach, and now I have two spigots sticking out of my belly. The idea is to keep draining off bile, while inserting nutrition
directly below the pancreatic inflammation/blockage, so I can build up strength for a surgery in 4 weeks or so.
In the meantime, I promise to actually make good on that promise to maintain OO, regardless of how much I can actually contribute myself, starting as
soon as I get home. I couldn't do it from here, because the OO servers do not trust any connection from a public wi-fi network. I couldn't
get "backstage" to do anything. I've had the same problem with hotel wi-fi, and was completely out to lunch on the fact that the issue would
probably repeat here. So sorry about that... especially to nOOb and Pyro,.
In closing, I'd like to thank WWE for finally announcing the WWE Network launch, and making it sound awesome. A man who is pretty much
guaranteed to be house-bound till April will really be able to watch the holy living shit out of that thing!

Im really sorry to hear thank Rick. Even though im new to the forums I've been a huge fan since wrestleline and I've always respected
you. I hope for a speedy recovery and I hope the wwe network isn't a complete let down. Maybe writing will help in keeping you focused on
something other than what's going on.

That sucks, but hey, great to hear that
whatever it is is likely treatable/curable/fixable and that you won't die (at least not from this anyway).
And to repeat Pyro, don't apologize. We're fine. Take care of yourself, and if you feel up to doing anything on the site, that's
great, but I am officially (sorry, OOfficially) moving that far down your things-that-need-to-be-done list.

No need to apologize, Rick. Having watched both parents deal with cancer (breast cancer for mom, non-noma skin cancer for dad), I have a good idea of
what you're going through.
