Onslaught,
you'll help make sure we're around for years to come. Toss us as little as
a few bucks, or as much as your generosity allows. Thanks!
Crap, I didn't know that anything stored at the crafting station was fair game for the settlers. I've been using that thing as a giant
storage space for all the shit I don't currently use.
I also didn't know the power armor could be stolen, so thanks for that heads up as well. Although I still just have the one suit of it, which
I've never used except for that first mission where it's mandatory.
How do you outfit your settlers with baller ass armor/weapons? Just trade with them and put it in their inventory?
Is everyone mad here?
Of course they are, and you are too... otherwise, you wouldn't have come here.

ammo has no weight (at least the gun ammo, not sure about mini nukes and fusion cores), so just keep any you come across in your inventory. I
haven't had any settlers take guns out of my storage since I took all the ammo out of it. As for power armor, you can leave it sitting in the
middle of nowhere, as long as you take the fusion core out. I have 4 suits so far, and I haven't come across the raider that carries a fusion
core with him

You have to talk to them and tell them you want to trade. then strip out their inventory and give them what you want them to wear. You then force
them to equip it all. If they have two weapons and you take one, they will autoequip the other. But for the armor you have to force them. They all
have a hidden outfit that only appears in their inventory after you have them use something else. Usually it's like jeans and a t-shirt or
something similar. It really does make a difference when they are under attack. Plus it gives me fun to mod out the armor and give it to them.
It's sort of a metagame, but in my head I'm not finding my son...I'm building a freaking empire and I want my settlers armed and
armored to the teeth.
You can also use it for flavor, I suppose. Like giving your doctors lab coats, and your traders suits. But I just give them badass modded armor
because it's the freaking wasteland.

If you go to their inventory after you give them something and press Y, it equip it on them. Pretty much everything short of Super Mutant armor and
dog armor is fair game. Just make sure if you want to equip arm and leg armor on them that they have a proper under gear equipped, too, otherwise
they're all running around in arm and leg pieces and nothing else.

Yeah, save Road Leathers, Raider leathers, and Military uniforms. Those three all give base armor and allow you to equip everything. There's
other outfits that allow it as well like 'Jeans and combat boots' and the like, but they don't have any base armor to them. The one
you'll probably see the most of that works with all the armor is 'long johns', but again, they don't have any base armor to
them. Road leathers seems to be what I use the most, to be honest. The armor I give my settlers I just mod for strength purposes. There's no
need to make the armor pocketed or muffled r whatever as they aren't going to use those aspects that I'm aware of. So basically I give
them studded, buttressed, or polished armor. And I guess now that I'm regularly getting combat armor and synth stuff, they are starting to get
modded versions of those as well.
Also, if you give them a gun, make sure they have some ammo of the proper type. They don't actually use the ammo that I see...IE, if you give
them 20 rounds and they use 1000 of them, they still have 20 rounds in their inventory. But if they have zero rounds at all, they won't use the
gun.

Huh. I guess I need to start hoarding armor then. I was either selling it, but it got to the point where I haven't even bothered picking up
armor off dead Raiders/Gunners any longer. Same with weapons.

The Brotherhood of Steel and Minutemen have like never-ending quests that are essentially "Go clear out this area or get this item." You can farm
those for armor and guns pretty easily.
Oh, if you see a great mod on a shitty gun, don't forget that you can remove that mod and slap it on to a different gun at any weapons station.
Then if you don't want the regular gun, you can scrap it or sell it, sans the mod. A lot of times raiders will give you something cool like a
Silenced /heavy/calibrated pipe rifle. It's usually a good idea to remove those mods and put them on to a better gun.

Shit, I didn't know you could remove mods from guns you find, either. Haha, goddamn, I really should have actually played around with this
stuff a bit more. Pretty much all I've been doing are side/misc quests.

You can also rename your guns and armor if you want. Not sure if you knew that. Renaming can be good, because heavily modded items have ridiculously
long names. It's nice to be able to Rename your "Silenced Calibrated Marskman Heavy Automatic Extended-clip Bolt-action pipe rifle" to
something shorter and more fun.

A Fallout 4 Story
So my Minuteman Second-in-Command is all, "Hey man, there's an awesome place we can build a settlement. I think it'll work out really
well."
I look at the map and I'm like, "You know man...I don't really see it. I mean, look at that terrain. You know it's going to be
loaded with Mirelurks. And what about the radiation? it's a freaking swamp."
But no, he's insistent that this is going to be a wonderful spot. So fine, I grab my Mr. Handy and head over. And gee. What do I find nestled
right in the middle of the ruins? Fuck you Preston.
But hey, after killing the Mirelurk Queen and her legion of minions, I look around. Not a single place with a house that can be of any use at all. No
workbenches, water everywhere, and look at that, it's in the middle of a swamp. This is probably the worst location for a settlement I could
possibly think of. Fuck you Preston.
Oh well, I did what I could to fortify it, built a house with 20 beds and some power, and a water purifier and planted enough crops to feed 20 people.
I walled off the entire compound, leaving only a single entrance that was heavily fortified with guard towers and eventually snipers to man them.
Finally, I put searchlights and automated turrets all along the walls.
I know they are out there. The mirelurks. I hear them skittering, I see the water moving. God, I hate Mirelurks. And they know I just offed their
Queen. I know they are coming to get revenge. Fuck you, Preston.
May God have mercy on the poor souls that move in here. I've already stockpiled enough sets of armor and sniper rifles and assault rifles to
outfit all 20 eventual settlers. Unlike Preston, I care for my people. I don't think it's going to matter in the end, though. But when
the Mirelurks come, I know what every settler's dying words are going to be:
"Fuck you, Preston!"

Well on the plus side, that Mirelurk Queen counts as one of those five giant enemies you need to kill for that achievement.
Amazing work as always on that. I think all my settlers would like to move into your communities.

Thanks for the kind words.
This is actually the second Mirelurk Queen I've run into, and I've seen 3-4 Kings and a Legendary King as well. Mostly, I was feeling
creative and felt like hamming it up a bit. Heh.
I always put in more work than I really have to into these games. I'm sure I'll go back and build more stuff eventually just because.
I've been wanting to try to wall off an entire settlement. This one was small and in theme with the idea of a place that most certainly needed
a wall in a meta sort of way and it got me feeling creative in my head. I get a little too into the role play aspects, methinks. But it's okay
as Bethesda only comes out with one of these games every 3-4 years, so I have plenty of time to get my geek on fully without getting behind.
I'm sure I waste tons of resources doing things like this, but whatever. There's always more tin cans and bags of cement to find in the
wasteland.

For sure. I think I had 250 hours on my Skyrim save file (and that doesn't even count all the time I would reload to play a quest a different
way)... and I still never even finished the main story.
On another note... if someone is wearing power armor, get behind them, VATS target the fusion core with an energy weapon, and fire away until it blows
out. The enemy will exit the armor. Should come useful if Raiders come in and steal yours.
I found this out by chance/accident while fighting the leader of some pyro-obsessed gang whose name I can't remember now. Some quest where a
farmer wants you to get back his prized sword, and to a lesser extent, his son. The only thing that sucks about that set of armor is that every time
I exit and enter it, it counts me as "stealing" it. So while I'm in Sanctuary, anytime I enter it, I get a "Codsworth hated that" message.

Ah yes, the Forge. I enjoyed that quest a fair bit, and loved the flavor that was put into them. I recently had another run-in with them when they
attacked one of my settlements.

After a bit of thought, I decided I'm going to turn New Murk City into a bastion of awesome, just to spite the damn swamp. Because nothing bad
in history ever happened from building a castle in a swamp, right? Here's my first baby steps. Gotta go grab some more steel before I start
the shops and move around the stuff I already built to better fit.
Amazing how a little artillery makes one feel a little better about holding a place. And yes, I'm probably going to waste like half the evening
building up just this one town now to make it presentable. Also, sorry if my spam irks people. I very rarely get excited about things in life.
Fallout + Building an empire are a rare exception to this. Plus the total shit nature of the original settlement was taken up as a challenge.

Essentially. There's actually a couple layers of flooring. Some of the first layer left things mostly kind of was submerged still. And I had
to jigsaw in different sized piece pieces of flooring to make it all uniform in height so I could start building houses and shops and the like on top
of it. I think I can turn this dump into a showpiece city. I'm going to put a windmill and large pylons in the middle, and put lights on it,
and eventually build a row of lights along the walls, hopefully lighting up the whole area from a distance in a stunning display of wasted hours and
inefficient play.

Work on New Murk City continues, albeit slowly due to the holiday. As filler, here's my current best friend in the Wasteland. Modded out, of
course. The scope is a medium w/night vision.

I feel like I've taken over this thread. I'm not ashamed of this. Just saying. However, I managed a bit of work on New Murk City today
between holiday stuff and spending the majority of my time when I did get around to Fallout 4 pew pewing in the wasteland clearing out some quests.
And I have no idea how the place is gonna look when I'm done. Still, here's a bit of progress in regards to how i've wiped out a
bunch of wetlands to build corporate towers:

That's ok, I enjoy looking at your insanely developed settlements... as mine are fucking shanty towns in comparison. I just don't have
the patience to do what you've done.
On another note, I made my guy immune to all booze/chems. So now every time I'm in a fight, I'm like an indestructible angel dust

Piper is obviously into me. She's totally checking out my package. I kind of miss Codsworth, to be honest. His one liners were much better.
Still, an achievement saying I need to max out relations with five companions needs to be unlocked, dammit!
I doubt I'm gonna let her play with that gun for too long though, as she eats through so much ammo. She can keep the sexy set of
polymer'd deep-pocketed Combat Armor though.

Work continues on New Murk City. The corner tower is looking like it might be finished on the outside.
