RIP to an absolute legend. His latest album, Blackstar, was said to have been a parting gift to his fans, which was released 2 days prior to his
death. It also showed that even at 69 years old, Bowie was still willing to re-invent himself and his music.

This will always be a favorite Bowie moment of mine. I like to imagine he showed up on the set, didn't read the script, and came up with this
all on his own because that's how good he was (he probably did):

Pretty much a sad and broken-hearted day for a lot of us old farts today because there aren't too many of us that don't have at least one
Bowie song on our own personal best-of lists. I saw him back in 1989 or '90 when he came through Calgary. No rock 'n' roll bullshit
on stage, just one of the top pros of all time playing music.
The long version of Heroes is probably my single favourite song of all-time. RIP David.
You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know,
that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but
I'm not high. You know what I mean?

I really wish I got to see Bowie live one time.
I really enjoyed his last album, The Next Day, and so far, I've heard two songs from his latest, Blackstar, and they've both been great,
particularly Lazarus. Knowing now that he wrote this album knowing that he was dying, and releasing on his birthday two days before he died... Ever
the showman, forever an artist. And always ahead of his time.
I'm liking the things that I'm seeing popping up in my facebook feed, like how he told MTV in 1983 that there are great music videos from
black artists that need to be shown (this is the year MTV was fighting against playing Michael freaking Jackson because they didn't play black
artists), and in the early 90s where he spoke on the ills of homophobia.
Anyway, this one's gonna be a difficult one. I've been listening to Bowie almost non stop the last two days. He's had such a vast
catalog and was constantly evolving his sound. No disrespect to Motorhead, but I couldn't listen to the for 6 hours straight. Bowie, however,
I've found to be really easy to listen to for that long. That's only 5-6 albums of his 27 studio albums. And then there's live
stuff, compilations, and collaborations.
Here's a fun article on Spin magazine that shows his influence:
big ups to Cody for the Aladdin Sane makeup last night.
Also, janerd, that performance with Arcade Fire was awesome. They were my favorite new band at the time, and Bowie playing with them insured to me
they were legit.

Go ahead and try not to get chills listening to this. I don't know what rating lies above godlike, but these two em effers certainly achieved
it.
He was a collaboration fiend. Two great tastes that taste great together...
Yes, walking around like a weepy bitch is exactly what I had planned for today.

No other real place to put this but Michael C Hall (aka Dexter Morgan) covered David Bowie's Lazarus and was actually pretty damned good:
