I still say it's a shame that Jim Cornette is not an on-air WWE character. He complains about the lack of kayfabe, so he'd be perfect
since he genuinely hates the current product and so many wrestlers. It's be real to him.

So Ive watched a few of these, its a shock for sure to my wrestling senses. There is alot I like about it, I even like their treatment of women and
giving them somewhat equal footing. I like just because a character doesn't have music to the ring doesn't mean he will lose. I like
that most of the matches seem to matter.
Maybe im in the minority here, but I even liked their commentary team, and the backstory they give to their wrestlers. From the few episodes I saw.
I think Id like it more if not everyone had a mask, but I understand it is Lucha Underground. I love the Aztec feel too it, love the gift of the gods
title, and the way they associate Pride it really makes each match seem more important.
The vignettes are wierd, very cheesy and over the top...I find those a bit of a turn off. Ive watched a few and I really can't tell if I like
it or not, some of it is I just dont' know all the characters yet. Alot of the wrestlers all look the same because its all choreographed and
jumpy and flippy. I like jumpy and flippy but there has to be contrast, and there isn't that much contrast.
The violence is fun, very ECWish. I love the look of the show and how it feels dirty and underground and is very unique. TNA should have been able
to look like this. I think they need to bring in more variety, English wrestlers, Japanese, African...so that we have a clash of styles which they
flirt with..... but in the end theres so much lucha its hard to see much distinguishing.
With that said, from what I have seen, there is ALOT to like about this product, and it seems to me it clearly can be a viable alternative to WWE that
TNA wishes it had of been. I just think a few tweaks are needed.
Without any spoilers, they do work on all that as the episodes progress. Two wrestlers who while athletic definently go against the mold and get
prominent spots, the backstage vignettes end up finding that sweet spot between cheesy and awesome.

Noble you said you've watched a few, I would recommend watching in order to see the progression and building of the characters throughout the
season. Or start with Aztec warfare, 1st episode of 2015 and watch in order from there. The show definitely gets better and better as they work out
all kinks. Enjoy!

I like Jim Cornette as much as I do Paul Heyman, I know once upon a time these two feuded with each other, but Id love a feud again with these two.
Have Jim Cornette come in and talk about the bastardization of wrestling, and have him start by blaming Paul Heyman and ECW..... man oh man could that
be good times. Theres a tag team in NXT that would work with them (grrr don't know their names, but they are VERY old school and they were in
that Dusty tag title tourny) Or Camp Cornette with Roman Empire of Roman and the USO's.
Cornette in my opinion would be MONEY for WWE right now, especially with some of his public spewing of hate for wrestlers like Owens and Zayn.
Cornette strikes me though of perhaps torching bridges after bridges on the way out.

My biggest question out of the first episode was if Matt Striker was picking up Vampiro from the hospital, why was his car under a tarp? I mean he was
leaning against it like he drove up and was waiting for him.
Striker took the bus there. Vamp's drivers license expired while he was inside.
Striker was there to drive him and the car home and provide emotional support.
They love each other god dammit!!!!!!!!
[Edited on 1-29-2016 by lz4005]
Striker needs Vampiro. There aren't enough NJPW gigs to pay the bills.
You know, I thank the vignettes to be in a dream-like state where the normal bounds of reality don't matter as much. A la, Tuco running from
The Man with No Name to get the gold by himself when he was cannon distance away from the cemetery.

So flew into Los Angeles from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico last night. Going to the Temple to watch Ultima Lucha for the next couple of days of tapings.
I went to the tapings on the 9th and 10th and it was one of the most fun events I ever been to, so I had to return, especially for Ultima Lucha 2.
Don't worry I won't post any kind of spoilers or even hint to anything that might happen on the show. Not sure if you guys noticed lately,
but it's difficult to find recent spoilers online which I think is great. The last visit to the temple, they asked everyone in attendance not to
post any spoilers online. We also sign a non disclosure. I think the true believers have so much respect for the product that nobody is spoiling
anything. You can only find spoilers to the early tapings of Season 2. It would be awesome if this could be a spoiler free show, but most likely that
won't happen.

It's good they're trying to manage that.
I hated that last season the winners of the trios belts and the gift of the gods belt were spoiled on wiki weeks before the belts even existed on
tv.

Finally watched the first episode of Season 2 and oh my god, I'm so fucking glad LU is back. I admittedly never read the comments against
season one in the old thread and, honestly, not going to bother now. Sorry if you don't like it, but god damn, for me, this is by far the best
wrestling show going. LU was my vote for promotion of the year last year in the RSPW awards and I voted for Johnny Mundo/Prince Puma Iron Man as my
match of the year, plus lots of other stuff. It's just so damn good. The Cornette thing cracks me up honestly, about not taking it seriously
as a sport. Why would you take it seriously as a sport? It's amazingly athletic, but pro wrestling stopped being a sport the minute it became
pre-determined. Just repeat to yourself, it's just a show, I should really just relax.
As for the premier episode, lots of love from me. I'm a sucker for gay spooky, so all the Mil/Catrina stuff and the Vampiro vignette were
awesome for me. I loved the title change as it immediately established it as a show where shit -happens- for new viewers and was a damn good match to
boot. The stuff with the Unlikely Trio was well done, including a really fun match and then the angle/match with Ivelisse and Mil at the end.
Probably the thing that excited me most was Pentagon Jr. throwing his hat into the ring as a world title contender by attacking Mil Muertes. Pentagon
was an awesome psycho last season, but they're smart to recognize that the fans loved him. He can be their anti-hero so well. And the look of
shock on Vampiro's face shows that they're not going to forget about that connection and there'll be more to come on that end,
too.
And I'm a big fan of the Striker/Vampiro commentary, too. They seem relaxed together and Striker, while still occasionally prone to
overdramatizing, has reined in some of his worst tendencies from his WWE days. And Vampiro took a while in season 1 to find his groove but is now
obviously much more comfortable and having fun.
I'm stoked that I have a lot more of this ahead. I can't wait for Johnny Mundo. I can't wait to see if they find a way to make me
care about Rey Mysterio again. I'm betting they can.

I wonder if the wrestlers on Lucha Underground are members of SAG (and all the nice benefits that go with it, like health insurance).
Holy shit! Already? That's amazing!

I'll second that. Considering the second season didn't immediately come as a guaranteed thing, I'm a bit surprised a third is now
good to go so soon. As long as it's true, WOO. If they can keep the product strong, I'll be glad to have more LU for as long as possible.

NON SPOILERS!
A few notes (spoiler free)
Before every show we have A girl from the staff tell us about how we are being taped for tv and the all the different things we maybe exposed to
during the show. The last thing she says is you may also be exposed to different bodily fluids. At every show when she says that, the whole place pops
huge! And a loud "bodily fluids" chant breaks out. Then the same girl says, if you are uncomfortable with any of these things please let us know and
we kindly escort you out. Then the entire temple with a chorus of loud BOOOO's
Almost forgot, then when she asks everyone not to post spoilers, a huge "No Spoilers" chant erupts. I sure hope everyone will stay true to that. How
awesome would that be?
There was a huge " Fuck Cornette" chant on the Saturday show, before taping began and a "Cornette Sucks" chant on Sunday
Huge "Lucha Underground Dos" chants throughout both nights.
98% of the crowd is smart and awesome. We all know we are part of the show and with the very few exceptions nobody is trying to hijack the show. I
would compare it very much to an Old ECW Philly crowd with a little more sophistication and class. (Hey it is taped in So Cal, Hollywood baby!
Don't hate) That being said the crowd is always red hot!
There is Luchador that is over HUGE, I'm not going to say who but it is something rare and awesome to see. He had everyone right in the palm of
his hands. WWE should take note how a character evolves organically and the producers recognizing it.
The Bad.....
My buddy and I who has also been a pro wrestling for many years were talking about it after. We may never in our lifetime go to another pro wrestling
show as good as the one we saw on those 2 nights, and believe me I've spent thousands of dollars going to so many shows over the years.
I'm going to go on record here and say Ultima Lucha Dos, when it airs on TV may very well be the greatest pro wrestling show/PPV/special event,
that has ever been from bell to bell. Unlike some PPVS or Raws, etc, where there have been awesome and memorable moments, Ultima Lucha from bell to
bell will be the best pro wrestling show to ever air on television or PPV.
For those of you that have high expectations for Season 2, expect them to meet those expectations if not completely obliterate those expectations.
I'm sure there are those that are probably thinking, get off LUs nuts already. For those of you that have watched the show, it's kind of
hard to get off.

My thoughts on the Season 2 Premiere:
I like how it featured nearly all of the key players in Lucha Underground. Johnny Mundo only appeared in a vignette, but we know he's near the
top of the card. He might have been the only really big name missing from this show. Cage wasn't on it either. I hope that doesn't mean
that he won't be treated like a top of the card player this season. I love that guy. He really truly is a machine.
I loved the Vampiro vignettes. It gets him back at the broadcast table and it sets him up for some kind of psychotic episode further down the road.
I'm already anticipating it and I'm already exited about what triggers it and what he ends up doing because of it.
The only questionable decision for me was taking the Gift of the Gods title off of Fnix. I thought he was set up to be next line. I have mixed
feelings about the title change. On the one hand, it feels like Fnix is being torpedoed right out of the gate. I get that Catrina made a deal with
King Cuerno, but it didn't seem to factor into the decision as Cuerno went over clean. I like King Cuerno a lot, so I don't have a problem
with that, but it feels like Fnix is going to take a tumble down the card after this one and I don't like the idea of that. On the other hand,
I like that the title change immediately kills the notion that the Gift of the Gods title holder is the Lucha Underground Champion in waiting. It
takes away the inevitability and predictability of being the title holder, which makes it a stronger prop than the Money in the Bank briefcase.
I liked how Ivelisse got a couple of hope spots against Mil Muertes. I enjoyed all of the storytelling that transpired around Mil Muertes and all of
the faces. However, my absolutely favourite moment of the night was when Pentagon Jr. showed up to attack Mil Muertes. It will make both guys look
like total bad asses because it proved that Pentagon Jr. really does have "Cero Miedo!" and it will add to the aura of invincibility when Mil
Muertes returns a week or two later without his arm being shattered.
And, last but not least, I'm excited to see how and when Dario Cueto and Black Lotus return to the Temple. I think it is awesome that they are
operating an underground fight club, so to speak.
I was more than happy with the season premiere and can't wait for the second episode. I'm glad I won't have to wait much longer for
it.

Slade, I don't think this would be spoiling anything for you, but not to worry, Cage is still a main character in season 2.
Here's the part where I'm not sure if it would be considered a spoiler or not. The fans have a "Cage clap". It's basically the
terminator movie theme but done by clapping. It's sounds pretty awesome when everyone in the temple is doing it, and it's perfect with his
machine gimmick.
Not sure if everyone heard but Vince Russo ranked all the wrestling shows on tv from worst to first on his webcast. Here are his rankings.
#5 ROH
#4 NJPW
#3 TNA
#2 WWE
#1 LU
I guess he lumped in NXT with WWE. He put Lucha Underground over big! Not sure how to feel about this considering I have mixed feelings about Russo.
When I say mixed feelings most of those being negative and I don't agree with the majority of his opinions. I have actually agreed more with
Cornettes opinions in the past and you all saw what he had to say about LU.
The only questionable decision for me was taking the Gift of the Gods title off of Fnix. I thought he was set up to be next line. I have mixed

Personally, I was blowing off the match thinking that they had set up next week's episode with Fenix/Mil, and then they surprised me by having
Cuerno win. It gave me a sense of "I better pay attention because who knows what's going to happen."

I think this is the best thing to happen to wrestling in a long time and don't know how anyone can think this is crap. You might not care for
it for whatever reason it might be, but I can't see how any fan of wrestling can possibly think that it is not worth your time. Especially
given that it's only an hour program a week.
The wrestling is short, fast-paced, full of action and 'flippy shit,' but engaging as well. The production and mystique give it an
unbelievably unique eye-popping flair. It's a comic book come to life far more than WWE could ever have hoped to achieve with Neville and
Stardust. For anyone like myself that is getting a little tired after watching wrestling/WWE for way far longer than they probably should have, here
you are.
Anyhow, interesting show tonight. They kept it just as fun as the first episode though with less cinematic scenes. The vignettes to introduce the
new wrestlers were cool. Wonder if they can keep those fresh if they keep on making those for each debut. PJ Black ending his by stating that he
feared nothing I guess is okay because fear and miedo are two separate things? Liked how strong they made Killshot look after he was largely a
background player the first season. And Prince Puma hitting that moonsault to the outside was the holy shit moment of the night. Mil Muertes looked
vulnerable with everyone calling him out now that he's down an appendage.

I can't believe they did it. My biggest worry with Rey on the show was imagining them potraying him as this super luchador who can totally keep
up with Puma and Pentagon.
They thankfully seem to be turning him into Yoda which is the perfect role for him. That segment of a man turning down the Dragon Azteca mask to carve
his own legacy and be revealed as the most famous luchador in the world was fucking awesome.

I agree, Rey playing the mentor role and his legendary status, limiting any ring time and trying to transfer some of his babyface heat onto the new
Dragon Azteca, is a smart, smart move. Gotta see how it plays out, but promising for sure.
I dunno, it's weird to have a wrestling show I don't have complaints about. The show was a bit weaker this week than in the debut, but it
was also setting up a LOT of stories and introducing new characters. I'm on record as hating the Darewolf nickname and thinking PJ Black still
needs some work on the personality aspect - I was floored when he ended up losing his debut to the Mac (who I love and was kind of mad when I thought
they were jobbing him out to PJ). They really do a good job, though, of saying he came there for a challenge and he's going to get one.
I really can't wait for Dario Cueto to come back - such a magnificent heel. I wonder if there's any wrestler you could even cast as his
monstrous brother - at this point, anything short of Goro might seem like a disappointment.

When PJ Black introduced himself with Zero Fear(literally Cero Miedo in English) as his catchphrase I knew something was up. Everything about him is
generic and losing in his debut added to that. Another shoe has to drop with him.
I did like how this is established that been an ex-WWE star doesn't mean much in the Temple.

This would have a fantastic gig for a guy like Braun Strowman. They need someone his size to do it, that is, if they ever do it. As of right now, I
kind of hope that he is never revealed. At least, they shouldn't ever reveal him until they feel like they've stumbled across the perfect
guy. Otherwise, just leave him locked up and unseen forever if need be.
I hope the Darewolf thing works out for PJ Black. They gave him a great promo video, but I'm not yet sold on him being the guy in that video.
Right now, it feels like they are two completely different PJ Blacks - the guy in the ring and the guy from the biker video. I cannot see them as the
same guy, at least not yet anyway.
By the way, Black didn't say that he had zero fear; he said that he fears nothing. Yes, it basically means the same thing, but Black isn't
completely stealing Pentagon Jr.'s catchphrase. All the same, it is all too obvious that the man with zero fear and the man who fears nothing
will eventually have to meet.
Consider me excited for a Johnny Mundo vs. Cage feud. I'm also quite alright with Cage being positioned as a face in the season 2 debut.
Pentagon Jr. vs. Prince Puma could be an epic feud. I'm excited for whatever future matches they might have.

He'd be perfect. Load him up with prosthetics to make him almost as wide as he is tall and then never let him into a ring. Just let him galumph

Dear fucking lord, the ending of this week's episode with Cortez Castro was hilarious. And what a way to introduce Joey Ryan. At some point
this show is going to run out of curveballs. It has to?
The backwards ladder fall near the top of the office all the way to the floor that King Cuerno took looked enormous. That's how you end a Last

I must also second stedanko's sentiment that Joey Ryan's introduction was amazing.
