So, that makes it more frustrating when we get something we know can be better.
As for HHH having the belt, hey I have no problem with that. He's a veteran who can still go, and do it all, and will probably bring the best
out of Reigns thats possible.
The problem is that he is in a match where Reigns might win the title. Thats the issue. If it were just Reigns vs the Authority, it would be just fine
and this thread probably wouldnt exist.
I think there's a dissonance between the way we see Wrestlemania and the way WWE does. To us, it's the biggest show of the year,
wrestling Christmas, and we want everything to be maximum awesome and sort of special for us. To WWE, it's the time they want to be the MOST
mainstream and the most accessible. That's why it has the occasional celebrity match or kind of ridiculous spectacles (like Shane/Taker this
year).
I think we feel a proprietary ownership of it and we get upset when THE show isn't to our liking. I definitely think people would be much less
aggravated by the Reigns stuff if it were done at Survivor Series or even at Summerslam.

I couldn't find specific numbers and also didn't care to look that hard but according to the one or two stories from seemingly legit sites
I saw, Roman Reigns is a "distant second" to John Cena in merchandise sales, which basically makes him the top selling guy actively in the company,
if true. The same sites also stated that Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins are at least in the top five, but Ambrose is closer to everyone else's
sales than he is Reigns. So buckle in: Reigns/Cena is happening this year or is getting the year-long Wrestlemania buildup.

Thats it!!
Man we have been worked.
This is all a master plan to finally have a Wrestlemania where Cena gets unanimously cheered for winning the title.

Can going by merch sales be trusted as a metric though? In TNA Velvet Sky is apparently their second best merch seller and she's about to be
released again because her contract is up. Punk merch sold huge yet they didn't seem to worry too much about losing that revenue stream when he
left for good.

It matters when they want it to matter. In the case of Reigns, it's "See? That is just a vocal minority of the crowd that doesn't like
him/care about him at all. Everyone else loves him!" But when it's someone like, say, literally everyone who isn't John Cena or Roman
Reigns, it's "Yeah, that's good that he's pulling his weight on that front, but he still needs to do more before we consider him a
viable, good business choice."

The merch' thing could also be a bit misleading; as guys that the machine are getting behind are going to be much more visible, and will likely
have a greater cross section of available merchandise that some guys aren't.
They are probably also going to pump out a lot more numbers for certain guys, which might bias the numbers a bit as well.... for example in the
WalMart toy aisle you can generally find a bunch of Reigns and Cena figures there, but no Ambrose or .... I know the first thing that could be said
that their figures just aren't selling while Ambrose's are... maybe, but I think it's far more likely that they are putting those
figures out at a 10 to 1 ration compared to the others.
This also generally goes on to other things as well... with limited sales space and the WWE pushing their top two guys, there's just not room
for that third Daniel Bryan shirt... or whomever.
Speaking of merch' I thought I take a gander at WWE Shop to see how that played out with product placement, and I quickly abandoned that once I
found this: http://shop.wwe.com/toys-and-games/
Man some of those figures are terrible... the two Brock's look bizarre... the plush one looks like a serial killer, and the action figure looks
like he saw a ghost. Dean Ambrose looks like he just escaped from the Blue Oyster "Salad" Bar (shout out to Police Academy)... and poor Rene kinda
looks like she's been taking cues from Kaitlin "don't call me Bruce" Jenner on how to look like a woman.
Unrelated, but with the talk of Wrestlemania.... I remember when I would look forward to it... that it was must see.... now I still want to watch it
but it's not with that expectation it will be awesome, but instead it's a kind of hope for the best, followed by it turned out okay....
Maybe I'm jaded, or maybe they really are slipping... but with the various fan's going off the desired script, the outright booing of the
last few Royal Rumbles, and what appears to have been plenty of last minute changes at Wrestlemania I think this is on the WWE.

I mean, HHH being champ when he shouldn't be is kind of the story. The whole Authority storyline is a meta story intended to anger smarks. Has
it gone on too long? Oh yes. But them making you mad by HHH booking himself to win the title is exactly what they wanted. And it would've
worked well, I think, if the anti-Roman sentiment hadn't gotten out of hand. But we're left with what we're left with, which is
probably a good match that's going to get shit on by the crowd.
Even if that is the intended storyline though, it doesn't change the fact that I have no interest in seeing Triple H main-event WrestleMania as
the WWE champion in the year 2016. Not unlike the Rock in 2013 and Batista in 2014, it's just continuing the trend of "retired guy comes back
in January and gets inserted into the main event of WrestleMania." Now, I will totally agree that Triple H is still more than capable in the ring and
is in great shape for a 46 year old, but that doesn't mean that I want to see him headlining the WWE's biggest PPV of the year as world
champion.
I dunno, if others don't have as big of a problem with it as me, than that's totally cool and I'm sure the match itself will be fine
(outside of whatever nuclear crowd reaction it gets). But I just feel like this is the third time we're going to see Triple H headlining
WrestleMania when he shouldn't be, and in my opinion, this time around he really shouldn't be.

You know, you could almost trace it back to that exact moment as far as when the negative backlash against Reigns started. Because before that, Reigns
was still doing fine as a babyface, even though his injury derailed him a bit (hell, I think it's probably been erased from our collective
memories that Reigns was actually fairly popular before his injury and ill-fated Slammy win). But then he won the Superstar Of The Year award and
that's when the "fuck Roman Reigns, he didn't deserve to win that!" snowball began to roll downhill and just get bigger and bigger,
until arriving at the point where we are now.

Oh that day is definitely the line in the sand for Reigns... I mean yeah, the WWE has always given off the vibe that Vince has a major hard on for
this guy, and we all kind of knew he wasn't going to be the work horse, or the promo guy out of the Shield... but still.... the three man power
bombs were crazy, and that moment when the Shield and Wyatt's faced off with Reigns and Bray both front and centre staring one another down felt
huge.... like we would one day point back to that moment that was so charged, as the start of a potentially legendary feud. Even the 2013 Royal Rumble
where he was eliminating everyone in sight... yeah, maybe some of that was him reaping the "not Batista" vibe the crowd had going, but it
wasn't an accident that he was chosen.
Reigns winning that Slammy was definitely his Rubicon.... here's hoping a guy with genuine potential doesn't get stabbed in the back by
Vince because we reject Vince's forced tyranny.
I'm completely serious when I say that for the fan reaction alone, Reigns versus HHH is the match I most can't wait to see this Sunday...
I really hope the WWE has something good up their sleeve, and that we can all look back on this as the Rocky Maivia period of Reigns career.

I have an idea...
Closing in on Showtime. Going to Plaid with the Obt...uh, Acute Angle...Rock run-in to "save" Reigns from Authority Fuckery, Roman WINZ!!!, BOOZ
reig...er, shower downst upon Rock holding up his cousin's hand triumphantly in a recreation of the Rumble Fiasco when suddenly Roman Superman
punches Rock and then spears him to the orgasmic glee of the IWC and everything from that moment on in WWE will be perfect forever and ever. Also,
possible LON interference and association with Reigns as a part of a NuAuthority faction.

don't see how you can have Roman come out and cut a promo as the new WWE champion while 10,000 fans are booing the hell out of him.
Just tossing this out because we've talked about it a trillions times now. A heel turn is what we all seem to agree on but there's some
dispute that it would even be enough. Is the only way to save the Roman Reigns experiment by turning him into an official Paul Heyman Guy? Like
through some kind of cross-over shenanigans between the title match and Ambrose/Lesnar? Have him betray Dean and feed him to Lesnar? Have
Lesnar/Reigns go on a full-Heyman rampage and collect some belts, like a division-killer run through the tag team ranks for a while, as well as
attacking any WWE champ who isn't one of the two of them? If nothing else it would be a major thumb to the eye of The Authority, who were
rebuffed by Reigns from joining them only to see him join up later with the certified genius of the company.
Heyman's rub seems to be highly effective most of the time. Could this be the way to finally get Roman to break through and put the last
eighteen months or so behind him?

I will settle for Stephanie dumping HHH for losing and cosying up to Heel Roman for a while.
I know Vince Russo like but one can slow burn it.
The turn happens in the obligatory rematch.
And cemented by Reigns running down Ambrose for losing his match to Lesnar.
An alliance with Heyman sounds nice but Brock does not look like he plays 2nd Fiddle to a partner who is also the Champion.

I guess if this is the place to discuss Roman, I'd like to say that I hate hate hate how WWE insists on calling Roman Roman. His name is Roman
Reigns, and he should thus be referred to by his last name. Reigns. As in, "I can't believe Reigns just hit his fifth consecutive Superman
Punch in a row. It's like he doesn't know any other moves!"
Semi-related aside, a lunatic fringe is the loose association of lunatics on the fringe of society. Dean Ambrose alone cannot constitute a lunatic

Just watched the most recent episode of that Ride Along show.... this one featured Ambrose and Reigns riding together.... for two guys sitting there
trying to entertain one another on a long car trip it was a nice glimpse into a much more at ease Reigns... Ambrose is a wacky as you'd expect.

So, has there been a more predictable outcome in a main event match ever than Reigns vs. Styles?
Vince's Chosen One vs. A Guy That Made His Name In The Competition?
I mean this is a guy who jobbed out Sting just to prove that WWE was superior to WCW 15 YEARS AFTER THE FACT.
There's less than a zero percent chance that Styles wins, right? Right?
When it Reigns, it bores.
