I wonder what the odds are that during their match at some point, Reigns and Styles throw a Superman Punch and a Phenomenal Forearm at the same time. And then what are the odds this creates a shockwave that tears a hole in the fabric of space/time.

I saw Ric Flair tonight and was sad.

He sat there grinning at the match while commentary went on around him.
He sat grinning at the match whilst the action came near him.
He sat grinning as the action left the area.
Next time leave him home, sitting by the window, grinning.

It was disturbing.

Maybe next week Roman will high five him and let him touch the belt.

Hadn't thought of that, but it's a good guess (or maybe Shane or Steph is put in charge of Smackdown, but without the brand split going into effect).

And that reaction to Reigns in the main event was...not good. The WWE really just needs to pull the trigger here and have Gallows/Anderson turn on AJ and help Reigns win or have the Usos do it and all three guys go heel.

I don't watch NXT (yes I know I should), so my first exposure to Enzo and Cass has been on the RAW roster.

Someone made a comment in one of the RAW threads post-WM about their entrance shtick running the risk of getting old fast. Focus group of 1 here, but that has happened.

Last week they mixed the middle up a quite a bit, but the bookends (and especially the S-A-F-W-T shit) is at "mute or FF it" levels already.

Weren't those Benoit's symptoms just before, y'know, the end? Just sitting in the eazy chair, drooling and grinning? Obscure midnight texts goes out from Ric to awnandeson! and tullyblanchitt! that all the women he took up to the top of space mountain are safe in the pool room.....

I wish I still had S-A-W-F-T shits. But otherwise, add another'n to the focus group pile. I though they were great on the NXT stage, but that Roger Rabbit cartoon boogaloo #GuidoShotFirst shit absolutely has a shelf life. I think once they really get settled in, they should focus on Enzo running people down on the mic and eventually drop the "My name is Enzo Amore...etc." hoopdedoo. Same with the Vaudvillians. The cartoon stuff worked like a charm in NXT. Those two teams need a bit of Nolanization if they're gonna hang with more serious, "real world" WWE guys. Buuuuuuuut then agayn, there's New Day, so what the fuck do I know?*

Because I'm me and I notice these things, but did you see when she was trying to take the first shoe off she was having trouble and was bent over at the waist for a while in front of some dude and some kids at ringside and gave them an extended look at her ushanka? Or whatever was left of it, that is.

The crowds are responding great to Enzo and Cass so I don't think they need to back off much. All they should do is have Enzo be less obscure with some of what he's saying because anyone not educated in Jersey Shore-isms probably has no idea what the fuck he's talking about. From what I've seen of them so far the fans genuinely like them so I can see them giving up on the overall gimmick any time soon.

My sense is tthat Enzo and Cass should be OK. I'm not ENTIRELY stamping their passport all the way through to New Age Outlawville, where the sing-along magically gives them a 20-year relevance shelf life even after WWE inevitably breaks them up so Colin can become the Cass Man.... but if it was fun to do when they were in NXT doing it for a year, I think it's way too soon to assume it won't keep working for a while.

Color me pleased with the Vaudevillains' booking so far, though. They are anti-Enzo&Cass;'ing, showing way more depth than they did at any point in NXT. Tonight wasn't exactly the same (with the anvilicious "1899" line), but had the same earnest-yet-evil tone as their excellent exchange on Thursday's SD. You actually get the sense that these four ridiculous caricatures might be human being who genuinely dislike each other, and that ain't nothing. English reminding us all that he is legit opera-caliber singy guy has possibilities, too, for their own signature prematch patter (New Day have it, Enzo and Cass have it, so why not?).

I don't know how Reigns/Styles will end on Sunday, but I do know this: it WON'T end with Reigns just valiantly playing the superman babyface and getting booed when he vanquishes his foe. Somebody is leaving Payback as the leader of a 3-man faction, and it's only slightly less likely that somebody is leaving as an actual narrative heel.

Vince "deciding the fate of control of RAW" at Payback is so dumb and such shitty storytelling, given the entire build up to WM32.... but guess what? This time, I'm just gonna let it slide.

I don't know if WWE had this vision of Taker jobbing to Shane with eleventy billion run-ins, or something, or if they just never thought it out at all.... but they clearly had this "reset" in mind a month before Mania, and they still gave it to us, despite the fact that it makes no fricking sense. I argue that, in this case, the ends justify the means.

We got a roster infusion. We got AJ Styles as a #1 Contender. We got Shane in charge for a month, to good effect, so if you ignore the reason WHY he was in charge for a month, there's suddenly a reason to argue for him to STAY in charge. And I think that's what's gonna happen on Sunday, when Vince makes his decree: he'll nominally favor Steph and HHH (they probably get RAW), but he'll show secret respect for what Shane has accomplished.

I'll mention that if they do a split, and have a "draft," and it seems like Shane is one mega-star short of competing against Steph, you just might have found the PERFECT spot to have Shane reveal The Demon Balor as a secret weapon.

But I'm kinda against a full roster split as we've seen it executed in the past. If they've re-thought-it-out to solve the issues (and I've thought about it, and I think the problems are solveable), then great.... I could sort of see this as a deal where WWE takes everything that NXT does so well, and repackages it EVERSOSLIGHTLY to expose it to the massively larger audience of SD (NXT's head writer just moved over to head writer of SD, if you want to advance this conspiracy theory!). If they want to.

Not saying they do. Just saying they could.

Rick

The most annoying thing about this is that they had two ridiculously easy outs on night one, and ignored them both:

1) They were going on about twitter demand for Shane etc - I'm fairly sure that it's the law over there in the US (as it is in the UK) that the directors act in the best interest of the company, and that they represent all shareholders, from majority to minority, blah blah blah. They could have had someone play a director (or wheeled out Johnny Ace, or anyone well known) and argued that by not even giving Shane a chance, they were risking a detrimental effect to the company, therefore they were going to give him a 1 month trial or something.

If that's too legal / real world for their liking, they may have done it by accident, but option 2 was probably an even better out:

2) Vince shows up to gloat that Shane lost, and would therefore never control Raw, ever. Shane comes out and plays the footage from their original in ring conversation, which is also available on their YouTube channel for the world to see, where Vince explicitly said: "Alright, I'll give you what you want. BUT - you have to have one match, one night, against an opponent of my choosing"...

Key word there: HAVE. At no point did Vince actually say Shane had to WIN. They could have played it as Vince slipping up, Shane outsmarting Vince, whatever - but all Shane had to do was show up, and he got control.

Why they didn't take the second route, rather than Vince just having a change of heart, I'll never know...

I might be the only one, but I feel like Gallows is really giving off a Kevin Nash vibe, from his manuorisims to his ring gear to his move set. I'm not familier with his New Japan work, so maybe this isn't a new thing.

I'm still a big Enzo and Cass fan. I also have enjoyed the Vaudevillins for a while. The depth of the tag division right now is great. I hope they continue to make it a focal point.

Bring on a huge factional war. That could be outstanding, and if you include a controlled and logical brand split to keep certain factions apart, there could be some huge moments ahead this year. I am barely missing Brock right now. That's a huge deal.

To add to what merc wrote: I wonder if, out of loyalty to Ric, Haitch basically laid down the law and said, "If you want to be on tv or a part of your daughter's career, you cannot fuck up with the booze and whatever other twisted shit you're into." Thus the perpetually plastered shit-eating grin whenever he's on screen. Rather than being senile, or at least senile-ish, he's basically not running on the high-end rocket fuel necessary to reach Space Mountain anymore, because aging. Because no one gets out of this shitshow alive. Oh neat, I made myself sad. Woo.

Yeah, unless he did some weird Montreal thing and used the middle, ring, and pinkie to indicate the three-count and the camera angle from the side made it look like he twice gave them the Stone Cold salute. If he did give them the finger it's seriously dumber than what Titus did to get suspended. I'm thinking that tonight results in Sami getting a crushing loss from Owens at Payback with an "injury" resulting that sees him out of action for a couple of months. No way Vince will let that go, not after the precedent he publicly set with suspending Titus for something that was dumb but completely innocent.

I entirely agree with Tex. The only Lana better than shrieking shoe-throwing Lana would be nekkid Lana, preferably in a sweaty frenzy of cowgirling on top of the dirty ol' Soviet Canuckle-head.

That was me, and I'm doubling down on it. Saying the same spiel every time worked for the Rock, but even he knew how to mix it up. They should keep the You Can't Teach That tagline, which I like a lot, and then do different promos around it. If Enzo can talk, let him say something other than his name in a rehearsed promo.

I really don't mind the built-in patter of their entrance. For as repetitive as it is, at least it's catchy, brief and most importantly it gives the crowd something to sing along with. If the Usos are still allowed to do their modern dance interpretation of apathy at the beginning of each entrance this many years into their run, and still have that be just about the only thing over about them, I don't see Enzo & Cass' schtick getting old any time soon. Especially since it's offset by how refreshingly original Enzo is once he gets past the introduction.

I'm cautiously optimistic in regards to the handling of The Vaudevillains thus far. I think if they can manage to keep on keepin' on without getting the rug pulled out from under them I could see the mainstream Universe get behind booing these guys. I hope so at least because I loves me some Gotch & English. The Dudley's do need to get themselves involved in some fashion at Payback this weekend and cost Enzo & Cass their shots. As entertaining as the promo work would be, they'd be better off waiting to pull the trigger on New Day vs. E&Cv2.0; later this year, maybe around Summerslam? But definitely after giving The Vaudevillains a chance to run with the tag titles.

And speaking of the Tag Titles...can we PLEASE get some new ones to replace those bronze monstrosities? Nothing says "who gives a shit?" like the international symbol for third place.

*I still think we're only a short time away from John Kassir mistakenly sticking his hand up Flair's ass and cutting a promo.

*Enzo and Cass.... I think they have a lot of potential, but variety is the spice of life... Yeah that worked in NXT where they were only out there on tv every few weeks, but they start doing Raw and SD with the same promo's and it's going to be the fast train to FF-ville for me.

I've been FFing the Usos entrance forever* Only time I hit stop and go back is if I see them get attacked while doing their entrance.

Enzo and Cass - to each their own. The crowd certainly eats it up (for now at least) so by that alone I see no end or change in sight to it. If the custom part is good and changes up, then yeah, I'll watch at least that part of it. But the rest - meh. Sounds like folks here are pretty split on it too. Note to self: take pulse check on their entrance around SummerSlam time.

Payback is looking to be a good PPV -
Some intrigue and mystery around the title match
Cesaro's in action.
Tag team #1 contenders (maybe the Network will have buffering issues during the above-referenced entrance and it will skip )
Ambrose/Jericho
Zayn/Owens
etc

The one thing I'm least looking forward to: Ryback vs. Kalisto again (and on pre-show again no less). I get the feeling that they're gonna move the belt to Ryback...in which case...why didn't they do that at WM and this could be the rematch to end the feud and move things along....)

* Well, I have been FFing all things Usos forever

I had never seen Amore & Cass. I liked them enough to seek out old stuff. I can report that the after routine stuff is limited and reused. I had heard the "run into my own arms" line before...a few times.

By definition SAWFT can't be forced, it doesn't work. Forced makes it hard and...never mind...sexist humor was to follow.

I did see a shoot where Enzo said they created and WE approved, so the limit on their schtick is theirs to (not) create.

I am having nightmares over grinning Ric. It really looked bad.
