Agreed. And hey, only half of the available Anoa'i(ing) family members I don't give a damn about have been drafted. But at least nobody has drafted The Usos so far. Maybe Shane, Daniel, Mick and Steph forgot they work there? Can they just make like Milton in Office Space and draft them to, like, Velocity or something until they come up with a reboot for them?

Him being pissy - especially towards Renee - on WWE Network's Draft Center was fun.

My guess ... Vince McMahon. Or it could be his distinctive lack of charisma.

I always feel like the knock on Cesaro being devoid of charisma is a bit off-base. The guy has an understated charm that not a whole lot of people pick up on/appreciate. Vince being the main one---

There goes Show. And seriously, Steph... Quit fucking talking.

Curious they split up The Club...Unless they plan on doing some trading...orrrr the fact that Blor is on RAW.

Almost marked for Bayley until Steph pronounced it "Nia Jaxx" *yawn*

Still. AMERICAN ALPHA!!!!!!!!!

I actually like Cesaro, but I think he needs some new opponents. And he's not void of charisma but he's not exactly oozing it. I dunno. Just a bit bored of him.

Jannny's first task is to put together a official graphic of Smackdown drafts Corbin Bernsen.

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?

Hard to say. The name is well earned, but after back to back Wrestlemania main events, I don't think Roman's developed as much as he should have. He can still work a fine match if paired with a proper opponent, though.

Rather underwhelming. Would have enjoyed someone off the books. Backstage reactions. Trades. Something. This was devoid of anything interesting and Steph was horrible.

That felt like something that WWE just kinda threw together overnight. It really didn't seem like a lot of the picks meshed. Smackdown is the show of opportunity yet has two guys that are probably going to overshadow the majority of the show, Owens and Zayn are STILL on the same show, and Raw appears to essentially be a Seth Rollins/Roman Reigns headlined show. The only thing that kinda made sense was Gallows and Anderson winding up on the same show as Finn Balor, but that may have been an accident.

Random stat but as I write this, we're only 20 13 posts away from surpassing the catch-all Smackdown thread and the west coast edition hasn't even aired. Say what you want about the format of the draft but it's stirred up almost the same amount of interest in it's first 90 minutes than the taped show has managed in 7 and a half months.

Speaking of egregious oversights, Janerd still needs to add this to the end of his avatar:

Good point about the posts. I'm pretty sure over the last 2 years I've seen 102 of 104 Raws and 2 of 104 Smackdowns. This is by far the most interested in SD I've been in years.

I would think that Tuesday Night would have been a better night for Wrestling in general since you wouldn't have to deal with Monday Night Football....ever.

Damn, Ambrose looked awesome tonight. That Superplex-Falcon Arrow attempted combo turned into the Dirty Deeds was great.

He's losing on Sunday.

And Ambrose no sells a superplex...

there is a point where " fuck it". Is appropriate when considering fake fighting. Somewhere a bar has an open seat, and I am going to find it.

I made a big deal out of how much I appreciated WWE trying to embrace some concepts where this was a real draft, in the sports sense.... but I'm now let down that they just treated it like a fantasy draft, with utterly nonsensical "lottery" elements from the drafts of the previous decade.

Instead of drafting to pick a team to win on the field, they had weird "reaches" like picking closers or place kickers in a fantasy draft to fill up a single category. And now that we've left the live TV show, they aren't even bothering to pretend like actual humans are making picks: they're back to just randomly announcing them, and we trust that Steph/Mick or Shane/Bryan had anything to do with it.

Boo.

Kinda seems like RAW "won" the draft, even if only because there has never been a draft pick in the history of all drafts -- fantasy or real -- that was punted as bad as Baron Corbin to SD. Also, RAW seems to have the key tag teams and women cornered, so far, ON TOP of the exclusive rights to cruisers. Possible political shennanigans/trades forthcoming? Massive free agent dealings by SD? We'll see.

FWIW, the Draft Extra Coverage on WWE Network just made a very specific big deal of SD drafting DEMON Kane. Might Korporate Kane be a different person? With WWE claiming that there are 60 total picks to be made tonight (but their own official list only indicated 58 possible picks), we have to "invent" two picks somewhere.....

Hoping that Sasha didn't get hurt with that clothesline because Dana threw that one as hard as JBL's old signature move.

I am delighted that Bliss is getting the call-up, rather than decimating NXT's women's division by plucking Asuka and/or Bayley.... but scratching my head over what possible greater good is served by putting Eva Marie on TV in any role other than eye candy.

We're down to the last 5 picks, and cross-checking with the WWE.com list, here's the only eligible options:

Erick Rowan
Remaining Outcasts (Axel and Slater)
Alicia Fox
Dana Brooke
And 1 NXT Pick

So somehow, the math DOES work out, by breaking up the outcasts and putting Bo Dallas back on his own. I guess I miscounted by one?

They should have given us a reason why Raw or Smackdown coudln't pick Joe, Nakamura, Bailey etc....like maybe HHH was allowed to keep 5 stars for x amount of time.

With 5 SD main eventers to RAW's 3 and a half, I'm excited to see who will rise on RAW. Please don't let it be Big Show.

EDIT:Braun Strowman is on his own?!

Alright, so as stupid and random as the Draft wound up being, I gotta admit that Heath Slater being the only person on the whole "Draft Eligible" list to go undrafted after 60 picks is pretty funny, and a good springboard for him to try one last stab at being a star.

Looks like breaking up the Outcasts and sneaking in a 7th NXT pick (Mojo Rawley, who nobody cares about, but he's not gonna get any better by staying in NXT as a bit player, so why not call him up and do the tag team with Ryder?) is how we got to 60.

Way things are set up now, I double down on NOT having duplicate tag and womens titles. One champ for each division, with brand-hopping rights.

But by no means am I certain that the way things are set up now will be the long term set-up: rest assured there will be significant free agent signings, but I really see that affecting overall depth (i.e. solo male workers), and not division specific needs.

Time will tell....
